Abstract

Dragon fruit (Hylocereus sp.) is a plant introduced from America and started to be cultivated in several areas in Indonesia. The high consumer demand is one reason to increase dragon fruit production. However, during the growth period, dragon fruit plant stems are at high risk for disease. This study aims to describe the stem morphology of dragon fruit plants that are attacked by disease and to determine the effect of vegetable pesticides from Lemongrass Wangi (Cymbopogon nardus) in the cultivation area of the Lampung Province Agricultural Training Center (BPP). The research was divided into two stages, namely field observations using survey methods, and testing the application of vegetable pesticides on diseased plants. Observations made in the first stage included: stem morphological symptoms, disease attack frequency (FS), and disease attack intensity (IS). Observations on stem morphology showed that there were eight types of disease with different symptoms and causes, with an attack frequency of up to 100%. The highest percentage of disease attack intensity was caused by anthracnose (56.7%), and the lowest was brown rot (13.4%). Disease control trials using botanical pesticides were carried out on three diseases that attack almost all individual dragon fruit plants, namely: anthracnose, mosaic, and stem rot. The results showed a decrease in attack intensity on stem rot, mosaic, and anthracnose after four weeks of pesticide spraying.

Abstract

The human brain has about 86 billion neuron cells, which have the function of sending signals or impulses to and from the brain. The brain is a vital organ in human survival. The human brain begins to form in the middle of the first trimester of pregnancy. This type of research uses the literature review method sourced from published journals related to brain development and cognitive function of children; the role of nutrition and the immune system at the beginning of life. All journals and articles are obtained from: Pubmed, PMC, Google Cendikia with journal inclusion criteria that discuss the immune system ( microglia, pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, α, IL-6, TNFα) cognitive function, child brain development ( Precursor neurotrophic factors (BDNF), nerve growth factors (NGF)), and nutrition ( Intestinal microbiota, modified cassava flour (MOCAF)) which are full texs. The result of this study is that the microbiota has a function in the process of absorbing nutrients, Both macronutrients and micronutrients needed by the fetal brain for the development of function. Mocaf consumption also plays a role in the absorption of calcium needed by the fetal brain for the process of neurogenesis, synaptogenesis. Gut microbiota imbalances have been shown to play a role in impaired brain development and cognitive function in ASD children. In addition to nutrition, the microglia system in the immune system also plays a big role as the main element of brain development and cognitive function. Microglia dysfunction in the central nervous system triggers proinflammatory cytokines through ROS so it is shown to have affected neurogenesis, synaptogenesis, cell mykgration, neuron cell life and triggered neurodegenerative diseases in subsequent offspring.

Abstract

Plants always interact with microorganisms either negatively or positively during their life cycle. The Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) group is one example that has some beneficial effects on the plant. PSB can transform insoluble soil inorganic phosphates into soluble phosphorous so plants can absorb them. This research aimed to test the isolate's ability to solubilize phosphorous and use the 16S rRNA marker gene to identify it. Testing the ability of bacteria to solubilize phosphorous on Pikovskaya's agar medium used a qualitative method by observing the halo zone in the colony around it. Then the bacterial isolate was identified by analyzing the result of sequencing the 16S rRNA gene. The RZ02 bacterial isolate showed the highest performance in solubilizing phosphorous, with a 9.1 mm solubilization index. The gene of 16S rRNA was carried out by using primers 27F and 1492R with an amplicon size of 1500 base pairs. Sequencing analysis and construction of a phylogeny tree were conducted by the Mega X neighbor-joining method and showed 100% similarity with Pseudomonas aeruginosa OIS 481. The solubilization index indicated that the bacteria had a potential candidate to be one of the inoculant components for biofertilizer.

Abstract

Tuna meat is a food ingredient with a high nutrient content, especially protein. This causes tuna meat cannot be stored for a long time, because it is easily damaged. To overcome this, you can add natural preservatives using palm vinegar (Arenga pinnata). This study aims to analyze the number of microbes and detect the initial time of decay in tuna (Euthynnus affinis) added with palm vinegar (Arenga pinnata). The research design used a completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of 3 treatments and 3 repetitions. These 3 treatments were carried out by soaking 225 grams of tuna with palm vinegar at concentrations of 0%, 2.5% and 5% with 0 time. , 3, 6, and 9 hours. Determination of the number of microbes in this study was carried out using the Total Plate Count (TPC) method. The results showed that there was microbial contamination in tuna, and the higher the concentration of palm vinegar, the smaller the chance of microbial contamination. In the spoilage test with 6 hours of immersion of tuna meat with a concentration of 0% and 2.5%, the initial decay occurred, and at a concentration of 5%, the initial spoilage did not occur. It can be concluded that the use of palm vinegar with a concentration of 2.5% can reduce the amount of microbial contamination. Palm vinegar with a concentration of 5% can inhibit spoilage, and slow down the initial time of decay in tuna.

Abstract

The use of antibiotics and commercial drugs for handling livestock can have dangerous side effects, so it is necessary to use natural alternative medicines. Red ginger is a potential plant used as traditional medicine. The content of metabolite compounds in red ginger consisting of groups: phenols, terpenoids, essential oils, and flavonoids are reported to be able to inhibit several pathogenic bacteria that cause disease in animals and humans. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different types of solvents in the extraction process of red ginger on the activity of disease-causing bacteria in livestock in vitro. Extraction was carried out by maceration method using several solvents consisting of: distilled water, 96% ethanol ethyl acetate, and n-hexane. Antibacterial activity test using agar diffusion method. The parameter tested is the diameter of the inhibition created around the disc paper. The results showed that red ginger extract using ethyl acetate, 96% ethanol, and n-hexane had a diameter of inhibition zone against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria of 3.38 mm; 3.17mm; and 3.70mm. In contrast to Escherichia coli bacteria, all solvents used for red ginger extraction were not found to have an inhibition zone against these bacteria.

Abstract

The Jeopardy Game is a learning media designed to assess students' ability to identify and remember factual information. This study aimed to describe students' learning activities and outcomes, whether or not they used Jeopardy Game learning media. Another aim was to define the impact of the media on the activities and students' learning outcomes. This was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design. The data analysis techniques were descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The sample in this study was 20 students from class VIII A, selected as the experimental class, and class VIII C, as the control class. The instrument used is a learning outcome test on respiratory system material. The results showed that students taught using the Jeopardy Game learning media had an average learning outcome of 72.82 and learning activities of 70.85. Meanwhile, students taught using conventional learning models have an average learning outcome of 58.35 and a mean value of learning activities 45.6. The results of inferential statistical analysis obtained a significant value for activity and learning outcomes of 0.000. This value indicates that the sign < = 0.00 < 0.05 so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. It appears that the Jeopardy Game learning media influenced students' activities and learning outcomes in PondokPesantren Al-Wahid PancaLautang's respiratory system material for class VIII Sidenreng Rappang District.
