Abstract

The professional identity and motivation of English as Foreign Language (EFL) teachers are shaped not only by pedagogical experiences but also by the broader social and economic contexts in which they work. In Indonesia, limited teacher remuneration and culturally embedded gender expectations continue to influence teachers’ professional engagement; however, the interaction between these factors remains underexplored in EFL research. This study aims to examine how economic constraints and gender expectations influence the professional identity and motivation of Indonesian EFL teachers. A qualitative narrative inquiry was employed involving twenty secondary school EFL teachers from Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured, in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns across participants’ experiences. The findings reveal that inadequate remuneration negatively affects teachers’ motivation, professional development, instructional creativity, and participation in continuous learning. Nevertheless, teachers with a strong sense of professional vocation demonstrated sustained commitment despite financial challenges. The study also found that gender expectations significantly shaped teachers’ career decisions and professional identity. Male teachers commonly undertook additional employment to fulfill their responsibilities as family breadwinners, whereas married female teachers prioritized domestic and caregiving responsibilities, resulting in different forms of professional engagement. These findings indicate that professional identity is dynamically negotiated through the interaction between personal agency and contextual pressures rather than being determined solely by individual beliefs or professional competence. The study highlights the importance of improving teacher welfare and developing context-sensitive educational policies that recognize the influence of economic conditions and sociocultural expectations on teacher motivation, professional identity, and long-term career sustainability.

Abstract

This study deals with the emotional labor and identity construction of teachers of English at underfunded public universities in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The study adopts a narrative inquiry, seeking to discover how teachers deal with their emotional realities in the absence of any material or expressive support from the institution. Eight teachers (five females and three males) between the ages of 29 and 52, participated in two semi-structured interviews over a month and kept weekly reflective journals. The thematic narratives indicated three major patterns: strategically suppressing emotions as a means of professional self-preservation, lack of institutional recognition whereby identity erodes, and in the end, emerging emotional resilience attributed to some forms of student interaction and collegiality. Findings indicate that the dimension of emotion is centrally positioned in the formative process of a professional identity and that, therefore, the higher education institution’s curricular reforms have to integrate these dimensions if the development of teachers has to be a long-term process.

Abstract

YouTube, as a digital media platform, offers significant potential as a source of non-field research data in ethnocoreology. Through access to audiovisual documentation, researchers can examine movement patterns, musical elements, costumes, and the performance contexts of dances across diverse ethnic traditions without geographical constraints. This study aims to explore the role of YouTube as a medium for ethnocoreological research through the integration of two methodological strategies: archival research and netnography. Within the archival research framework, YouTube is positioned as a cultural repository that preserves historical traces, aesthetic transformations, and evolving modes of dance presentation over time. In contrast, the netnographic approach views YouTube as a space of cultural interaction in which identity negotiation, meaning-making processes, and representational practices are enacted through the digital activities of virtual communities. This study employs a qualitative methodology, with ethnocoreology serving as the primary epistemological framework, thereby ensuring that dance analysis remains grounded in the relationship between textual and contextual dimensions. Data were collected from various YouTube features, including description boxes, comment sections, playlists, and community channels, and were supplemented by relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that YouTube functions not only as a medium for dance documentation but also as an epistemic arena that expands the research paradigm of ethnocoreology within the digital ecosystem. These findings underscore the importance of rigorous source criticism and stringent data selection procedures to ensure the scientific validity and reliability of research conducted through digital platforms.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how legal protection for creditors is applied in judicial practice by analyzing the case in Decision Number 14/Pdt.G.S/2022/PN.Gto. It focuses on the legal protection available to creditors when a debtor defaults (bad debt) on a financing agreement secured by a fiduciary guarantee. This research is crucial as it highlights how the law provides a foundation for protection by recognizing agreements, establishing breach of contract (default), and granting rights over the collateral object. On the other hand, the evidentiary process in court and disputes surrounding the formal aspects of the guarantee show that such legal protection does not always run smoothly and can be influenced by various factors. Consequently, there is an urgent need to analyze the considerations weighed by the panel of judges in bad debt cases secured by fiduciary guarantees. This study utilizes a normative legal research method (doctrinal) by analyzing applicable legal regulations supported by other legal materials, including primary and secondary sources. The findings demonstrate that fiduciary guarantees are fundamentally recognized and enforced by courts through civil dispute resolution mechanisms. However, the implementation of this legal protection varies depending on the concrete circumstances of the case, particularly when disputes arise regarding the formal validity of the fiduciary guarantee that serves as the basis for protecting the creditor’s rights.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of health services at the Alalak Selatan Community Health Center in Banjarmasin City. This study employs a descriptive research design and a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings of the study indicate that the quality of service at the Alalak Selatan Community Health Center, as measured by the timeliness of service—specifically regarding waiting times and processes—is not yet optimal and has not been able to fully meet the established completion targets. In terms of politeness and friendliness in providing service, the quality is quite good; however, friendliness tends to decrease when there are large numbers of patients in line. In terms of service accuracy, the quality is already good. The quality of public service, as measured by the ease of accessing services, is quite good, and the comfort level in receiving services is also quite good, although improvements are still needed. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the use of the online queueing application with clear service time estimates. Direct outreach to the public regarding the use of the online queueing application should be conducted so that all patients can register through the application. Comfort in the patient waiting area should be improved, and additional computers should be provided to facilitate the service process.

Abstract

Digital transformation often fails at execution because technologies do not automatically alter decision rights, talent allocation, incentives, or cross-boundary coordination. This study examines how strategic human resource management translates digital strategy into organisational action and value creation. A longitudinal embedded single-case study of Haier Smart Home was conducted using six semi-structured interviews (628 recorded minutes) collected in February-March 2026 and archival evidence covering 2020-2025. Gioia coding, process tracing, pattern matching, rival-explanation analysis, and data triangulation were applied. The findings identify four linked mechanisms: dynamic strategic alignment through decentralised authority and human-resource platforms; order-based human-capital reconfiguration through capability labels, opportunity orders, and flexible team boundaries; market-oriented incentives through user-paid compensation and traceable contributions; and platform governance through chain-group collaboration across internal units and ecosystem partners. These mechanisms improve organisational responsiveness and broaden value creation, but their effects depend on reliable data, divisible tasks, attributable feedback, talent depth, transparent rules, and sustained leadership commitment. The study reconceptualises digital human-resource management as a governance mechanism system rather than a set of automated functions.

Abstract

The second-classroom curriculum, encompassing all structured learning activities outside the formal academic program, is recognized as a crucial component of holistic education in Chinese universities. Despite its potential to enhance student competencies, many institutions report declining academic outcomes. This literature review synthesizes existing research to analyze key factors influencing the effectiveness of the second-classroom curriculum on academic performance in Chinese higher education. Through systematic analysis of recent scholarly work, four primary factors are identified: curriculum flexibility and design, learning environment resources, teachers' feedback and assessment, and student learning styles. The review further explores student engagement as a critical mediating mechanism through which these factors impact academic performance. Findings reveal that challenges including rigid curriculum structures, inadequate resources, inconsistent feedback, and mismatched learning styles hinder the potential benefits of second-classroom initiatives. A significant research gap exists in the lack of integrated models positioning student engagement as the central mediating variable within China's unique cultural context. This review concludes that future empirical research should test this proposed mediation model to provide actionable insights for optimizing second-classroom curricula to address declining academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital governance and green business practices as a means to foster sustainable Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Pekanbaru City, viewed through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Digital transformation in governance and the adoption of eco-friendly business practices are crucial factors in enhancing MSME competitiveness while supporting inclusive and sustainable economic development. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, utilizing in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving MSME owners, local government officials, and relevant stakeholders. Data analysis was conducted through an interactive process of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of digital governance has facilitated easier access to licensing services, business guidance, digital marketing, and business support for MSMEs. Meanwhile, the implementation of green business practices is becoming evident through the use of eco-friendly raw materials, energy efficiency, waste management, and heightened awareness regarding sustainable production practices. However, the implementation of these concepts still faces various challenges, such as limited digital literacy, restricted access to green financing, low technology adoption, and suboptimal synergy among stakeholders. The study concludes that integrating digital governance and green business practices contributes positively to achieving the SDGs—specifically Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and Goal 13 (Climate Action). Therefore, strengthening policies, enhancing MSME capacity, and fostering collaboration among the government, the business sector, academia, and the community are essential to accelerate the development of competitive and sustainable MSMEs in Pekanbaru City.

Abstract

With the rapid expansion of live streaming economy, platform capital has penetrated all links of industrial operation. Driven by profit motives, many platform enterprises produce irregular capital behaviors such as predatory investment, exclusive traffic agreements, vicious subsidy competition and data-driven market monopoly, which bring severe challenges to traditional government regulatory framework. Based on regulatory economics theory and platform governance theory, this paper sorts out the typical conflicts between existing regulatory systems and platform capital operation characteristics, analyzes institutional obstacles including regulatory fragmentation, lagging digital rules, inadequate cross-department coordination and weak accountability mechanism. This research focuses on institutional innovation of government supervision, and puts forward targeted optimization paths from perfecting special regulatory laws, building whole-chain capital monitoring system, realizing coordinated multi-department supervision, improving algorithm transparency mechanism and constructing long-term regulatory credit system. The conclusions can provide policy reference for standardizing platform capital and promoting standardized development of live streaming business ecosystem.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of teacher educators' social intelligence on their job performance. A quantitative research approach was employed. A total of 1,102 teacher educators from three education universities and nine education degree colleges participated in the study, and a cluster sampling technique was used to select the participants. The findings revealed that the teacher educators' level of social intelligence was above average. The results of the independent-samples t-test indicated that there were no significant differences in social intelligence based on gender or marital status. However, the results of the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that younger teacher educators had significantly higher levels of social intelligence than older teacher educators. The findings also indicated that the teacher educators' job performance was satisfactory. The independent-samples t-test revealed that gender was significantly related to job performance, with female teacher educators demonstrating better job performance than their male counterparts. However, no significant differences in job performance were found based on marital status or age. Furthermore, the results of the correlation analysis showed that teacher educators' social intelligence was positively associated with their job performance. Multiple regression analysis further revealed that social intelligence was a significant predictor of teacher educators' job performance, accounting for 8.7% of the variance in job performance.
