Abstract

There is a significant gap between secondary school mathematics and university mathematics courses. This study aims to identify how mathematics education students understand the connection between topics in Real Analysis and school mathematics content. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with the research subjects being students who are pre-service mathematics teachers who are taking the Real Analysis course. Data analysis was carried out in 3 stages, namely: data condensation (data reduction), data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Concept-by-concept connections between Real Analysis topics and mathematics in secondary schools are categorized based on Suominen's categorization of mathematical connections. The research findings reveal that pre-service teachers have limitations in identifying the connections between Real Analysis and school mathematics topics. The connections that students identified were limited to general ideas. It is necessary to prepare a structured learning method in the Real Analysis course that can facilitate the gap between university mathematics and school mathematics.

Abstract

Kredit Tanpa Anggunan (KTA) are bank loans given to debtors without asking for guarantees. Some debtors who have made KTA but still need additional loan funds can top up. However, offering this facility to the public cannot be separated from the risk that the debtor and/or other parties fail to fulfill their obligations to the bank. In an effort to assess the feasibility of prospective debtors, banks need decision-making tools so that they can easily and quickly estimate which debtors are able to pay off credit on time (good credit). The tool that is often used is classification. In this study, we will compare 3 classification methods, namely k-nearest neighbor, binary logistic regression, and classification tree, to obtain the best method for analyzing the feasibility of giving KTA top-up. Based on the accuracy value in each method, the classification tree produces the highest accuracy value compared to the other two methods. Thus, for this study, the classification tree is the best method, with an accuracy value of 87.68%. The variables used in the classification tree are DBR, length of service of a debtor, credit limit, type of debtor's occupation, the total income of the debtor, the area where the debtor lives, and the credit period of the debtor is 1 month.

Abstract

Graph theory can be applied in course scheduling. The problem discussed in this study is scheduling courses in the UNUGIRI Mathematics Education Study Program using graph coloring. The purpose of this study is to prevent the occurrence of overlap (cross-over) in the preparation of courses. Good scheduling is a schedule that can be carried out by all related parties in teaching and learning activities. The algorithm used in this study is the Welch-Powell algorithm. The research was conducted using an axiomatic deductive method by deriving existing axioms or theorems, then applied to vertex coloring on the graph representation of the lecture scheduling of the UNUGIRI mathematics education study program. The readiness matrix to teach odd-semester courses is obtained based on the Welch-Powell algorithm. 2022/2023 with six different colors. The six colors represent the scheduling of 26 UNUGIRI Mathematics Education Study Program courses into six days without any cross-over.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of interactive multimedia on students' mathematical reasoning abilities on prismatic material. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a post-test-only control group design. Students in one of the junior high schools in Gorontalo were the samples in this study, where class VIII-2 was the experimental class, and class VIII-1 was the control class. The experimental class was a class that was given learning treatment using interactive multimedia, and the control class was a class that was given learning treatment using PowerPoint. Data on students' mathematical reasoning abilities were collected by giving tests of mathematical reasoning abilities using questions in the form of descriptions. The data collected was then analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results of the descriptive analysis obtained are the average mathematical reasoning ability of students in the experimental class is higher than the control class. These results are supported by the inferential analysis, which reveals that interactive multimedia has more effect on students' mathematical reasoning abilities than PowerPoint.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Quantum Teaching learning model on student learning outcomes. This research was conducted at a junior high school in Bone Bolango. The research model is an experimental research that uses a posttest control group design consisting of 2 samples, namely, the experimental class and the control class. The sample was selected by a simple random sampling technique involving 24 students for the experimental class and 23 students for the control class. The results showed differences in student learning outcomes taught by the Quantum teaching-learning model and the direct learning model on set operations material. This is indicated by the average value of student learning outcomes in the set operation material of the experimental class is higher than the control class.

Abstract

Sulawesi Island is one of the islands in Indonesia with the second lowest HDI after Papua in 2011-2018, so it is necessary to study more deeply the factors that affect the HDI on Sulawesi Island. One of the methods in modeling is the robust regression method that can be used even though there are outliers in the data. This study aimed to determine the factors that affect HDI in Sulawesi Island using a robust regression model of Least Trimmed Square (LTS) estimation and Maximum Likelihood (M) estimation and to find out the best method for modeling HDI in Sulawesi Island. The robust regression of the LTS estimate has a reasonably high breakdown point value compared to other estimates, while the M-estimate has a high efficiency. The results showed that the factors that affect HDI on the island of Sulawesi are Life Expectancy (UHH), Expected Years of Schooling (HLS), Average Years of Schooling (RLS), and Real Expenditures per capita (PPP). The best model in HDI modeling in Sulawesi Island is a robust regression model with LTS estimation where the standard error is 0.1513, and the R-Square is 99.78%. A very high R-Square value indicates that the ability of the UHH, HLS, RLS, and PPP variables to explain HDI is very good.
