Theologia in Loco
ISSN : 26214903     EISSN : 26214911     DOI : 10.55935

Abstract

There is a narrative in the word. The narrative tells the way of life. The way of life draws the theology of society in daily life. One of the people daily life is a meal. A meal is not only the need of life but also the social rite. One element of the meal is bread. The Bible tells about two kinds of bread, namely: the bread and the unleavened bread. Those two kinds of bread motivated me to find out how the Bible distinguishes both the meaning and practice of those bread. The use of the bread and the unleavened bread narrate the society daily life and ritual both ancient Israel and the Christianity of the first century around the Mediterranean. The Bible gives that narrative to us. I search both word and practice of the bread and the unleavened bread with the meal of the Jews, as being told by the Old Testament and the New Testament especially the early Christianity. The point of this article is the deserve element of the Eucharist of the Church today: the bread or the unleavened bread. Above all, even though the tradition of the Church told one of those elements, we should open our mind to contextualization.

Abstract

A constructive understanding of the image of God is influenced by two important events that is experienced by the Israelites: colonization in Egypt and alienation in Babylon. These two influences are problematic when we absolve them to read the story of human creation in Genesis 1. This article attempts to overcome the problem through a post-exilic perspective on the image of God in Genesis 1. This article concludes that the implication of the image of God rejects the alienation and domestication of God’s image.

Abstract

In this article, I propose the theme of friendship to be an ecclesial practice, a practice adapted from “spiritual direction.” I will approach from different perspective, especially from various Protestant seminaries such as pastoral to clinical pastoral care. Therefore, I propose “spiritual direction” or “spiritual companion.” I will use the philia concept, which is love between two (or more) people who are nonsexual and non-erotic. This love manifests between two friends who are committed to walking together, side by side and looking at one vision and walking together to reach that vision. By borrowing the anam ċara idea, “friend of the soul” from the Celtic-Irish tradition, “spiritual companionship” can become a habitus in Indonesian Christian congregations in order to increase the spirituality of church members.

Abstract

The Christian Church, throughout its history, has involved in various kinds of cases with multiple variants. This paper presents a historical explanation, in a limited way, the church’s journey with the issue of the court with various considerations from the fieldsof ethics, ecclesiology, and pastoral. In the end, I argued that the church needed - even needed - to bring several cases to court, such as criminal acts, including misappropriation of positions, including financial and asset matters. Or on issues of struggle to uphold justice, human rights, discrimination, intolerance, the church must process it to the court.

Abstract

Nicene-Constantinople creed is usually understood only as a result of theological opinion struggle from our church fathers in the past and ignored political power that influenced it. Collaboration between theological opinion and political power in making process has made Nicene-Constantinople creed become unique and makes us as modern church generations in this day need to question the meaning of the present political power that usually influences church decisions to give benefit for their political interest.
