Indonesian Journal of Islamic Economics and Business E-ISSN: 2540-9506 P-ISSN: 2540-9514 is the journal that concerns to publish broader issues on Islamic Economics and Business. It based on the presupposition that Islamic economics and Business is still on going process to be established. There is a need to serious study on not only limited to Islamic banking and financing system but also on philosophy, politic, environment, law, culture, ethics, management and entrepreneurship of ‘Islamic Economics’. The journal aimed at bridging and solving the dichotomy between ‘orthodox’ and ‘heterodox’ problems of Islamic economics. So, the journal invites scholars who interesting in Islamic economics and Business contributes to submit their research article.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the factors that influence the income of home industry fish crackers in district Pelayangan, the factors are technology and innovation. This research uses primary sources by distributing questionnaires to home industry owner, The sample used in this research were fish cracker home industry player in District Pelayangan Jambi city. The sampling technique was conducted using Stratified Random Sampling with total of 40 samples. The quantitative approach with multiple regression analysis is used to describe the determinant of each variable. The result shows that t hitung for innovation is 3,569 with significant value 0,001, while technology T hitung is 2,070 with significant value 0,045. Generally, all variable has adjusted R-value 0,35, its mean, innovation andtechnology have 35% effect to home industry income in district pelayangan, Jambi city.

Abstract

This paper aims to find out the strategies in fundraising, management and distribution systems and the constraints faced by the organization and the optimal level of the strategies applied. This paper uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods through observation, interviews and documentation. The following results and conclusions are first, the fundraising strategy is broadly divided into two, namely direct fundraising (directly) and indirect fundraising (indirectly). Second, the management and distribution system carried out by LAZ OPSEZI is more on the collection system and is directly distributed even though there are certain programs that are managed first. Third, the obstacles faced by this institution in collecting funds include the lack of existing human resources, less than optimal cooperation with the government and the lack of public understanding of zakat and amil zakat institutions. Fourth, based on research through data collection, the fundraising system implemented in 2015-2016 runs quite optimally, this is based on the achievement targets made, the amount of achievement in that year and compared from the previous year

Abstract

This paper aims to describe the influences of halal lifestyle towards cafes’ customer trust in Jambi City. This paper used qualitative research methods based on primary and secondary data. Study cases are taken from Kesiko, Eat & Fun and Clave Cafe, they were chosen because of their popularity and business duration. The sampling method is snowball sampling with 50 respondents from customers and managers and staff at Kesiko Eat and Fun Cafe and Clave Cafe. The results of this study indicate that the halal lifestyle has been quite well implemented in Kesiko, Eat and Fun Cafe and Clave Cafe in Jambi City. it evidenced by the role of cafe management, sellers, and customers who carry out their activities based on the indicators of halal lifestyle, such as food and beverages before selling must be considered as halal food and drinks or has been labeled halal.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of the Jambi Province Job Training Center called (BLK) and its role in Empowering Work Skills, Increasing Work Motivation and Entrepreneurial Interest in the Young Generation. The data were collected by observation, interviews and documentation. This study uses the descriptive qualitative approach with the sampling method using snowball sampling. The data analysed by interactive analysis technique, namely by reducing data, presenting data, and imparting conclusions. The results of this study all participants which is taking part in training at the Work Training Center of Jambi Province, especially in this study, namely the Apparel Garment Program Assistant major Clothing makers and the Automotive program, majoring in Motorbike Junior Mechanics, certainly have a very important role for participants in finding job vacancies, and even gain skills training with the belief that they can open their own business by provision of skills possessed.

Abstract

Bangladesh is one of the developing countries in South Asia which has a similar topography as Indonesia. With majority of population is Muslim and aspects of the economy based on agriculture and garment industry, Bangladesh becomes ideal comparison to Indonesia. But poverty remains as national problem there. With potential 90% of Muslim community, utilizing zakat role to alleviate poverty is still limited. Some data from the Social Report, IRTI and related research is analyzed to find contribution of potential zakah in improving social welfare. In addition, a method review is used to analyze collection, management and distribution of zakat in Bangladesh. Hopefully, this paper become a scientific contribution to the methods of zakah management in Indonesia.

Abstract

The more important the quality of service and promotion applied to the company, the management can improve customer decisions. This research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study were all customers of Bank BRI Syariah Jambi Branch with a total sample of 96 customers. The sampling technique is convenience sampling. The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression. The results of multiple regression equations, the equation is known, as follows: KN = 16.783 + 0.598 KP + 0.187 PP, which from this equation is known that the variable that has the greatest influence is the Service Quality variable with the level of coefficient (β) of 0.598, then followed by Advertising Products with a coefficient of 0.187. And finally based on the calculation of the coefficient of determination, then the two independent variables simultaneously (service quality and product advertising) studied were able to explain the variable decisions of customers in choosing to save at BRI Syari'ah Bank as much as 15.1%, and the remaining 84.9% was explained by other independent variables not examined in this study.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze the awareness of sellers and shop owners in using weights correctly and honestly based on Islamic business ethics. Taxonomy, Domein, and component methods are used as a qualitative method to explore and analyze the sample of focus. The sampling method is purposive sampling they are sellers or shops. owners that have practices selling in Mehdahara Ilir Market more than 4 years. Triangulation model from buyer and seller is used to confirm the result from the previous method. The result shows that most of the seller understand the concept of honest but don’t understand the concept of Islamic business ethics. The weights used are traditional weights, with no standard its effects to different confirmatory weight from buyer, and made the lack of trustworthy. the research suggests the government gives them the standard weights and socialization its important to get trust and loyalty from the customer.

Abstract

Infaq is one of instrumen of islamic social finance, it has a significant role in islamiceconomics development. This study aims to describe the role of infaq in indonesia byanalyzing the management of infaq at the National Zakat Agency BAZNAS as legalauthority in collecting and distributing infaq in Indonesia. This study uses a researchmethod that is descriptive analysis-comparative, which describes data related to infaqmanagement at BAZNAS. Data analysis stages consist of data reduction, datapresentation and drawing conclusions. The management of Infaq funds at BAZNAS is inaccordance with the applicable law, with a separate recording system separate from zakatand other alms. It also collaborates with UPZ in mosques to optimize the collection anddistribution of infaq.

Abstract

This paper will discuss the initial public offering (IPO) for startup companies. Case study of PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa Go-Jek. The discussion in this paper will emphasize startups and their comparison with IPOs in ordinary companies (Case Study PT Jasa Armada Indonesia, Tbk) and other startup companies, namely PT Kioson Commercial Indonesia, Tbk) in 2017. A qualitative approach with normative descriptive and benchmark method is used to analyze the problem mention above. This research finds that in general, public regulations and general guidance in Law Number 8 of 1995 concerning the Capital Market and other related regulations sufficient to meet the requirements of going public for public companies. But with the development of startup companies in Indonesia, especially PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (Go-Jek), planning to conduct an initial public offering encourages the government to immediately make decisions on the initial public offering process rules so that these arrangements will not only reach ordinary companies with the number of assets large but also able to reach start-up companies to contribute to the development of the national economy.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe the influence of course business introduction and entrepreneurship to improve student’s interest to develop the business. The research question focused on the constraint, interest, and the lecturer’s strategies. Qualitative descriptive is used as a research method. Data were collected through observation, depth interviews, and documentation. The sampling method is purposive sampling with criteria students who have started their own businesses and the lecturers who taught the course business introduction and entrepreneurship. The results show the courses mentioned above have motivated students to develop their business but the main constraints are time management and funding access. The lecturer’s strategy is accompanied them in a field trip, interview with a successful entrepreneur, and encourage to make innovation for their product.
