Abstract

Technological developments in the Society 5.0 era have brought easier access to information, but also pose serious challenges in the form of rampant political disinformation that can undermine democratic stability. This study aims to analyze the role of Civics Education (PKn) in countering political disinformation by strengthening digital literacy, political literacy, and national character values. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach, through a review of scientific literature from various credible sources relevant to the topic. The results indicate that PKn plays a strategic role as a critical educational instrument that equips students with the skills to filter information, think reflectively, and internalize civic dispositions such as honesty, responsibility, and tolerance. Furthermore, the integration of digital technology into PKn learning through case-based strategies, problem-based learning, and online discussion forums has proven effective in increasing student participation and building democratic awareness. In conclusion, adaptive transformation of PKn to the demands of the Society 5.0 era is key to shaping a digital generation that is intelligent, wise, and has character, while simultaneously strengthening the resilience of Indonesian democracy. In facing political disinformation, citizenship education is no longer an option it is an urgent necessity. This education must evolve to equip citizens with strong cognitive defenses, critical digital literacy, responsible digital ethics, and a commitment to social cohesion. By investing in this transformative education, we can empower individuals to become resilient and informed citizens who are able to navigate the complex information landscape and contribute to the health of democracy in the digital age.

Abstract

This study analyzes CNN’s framing of the European Union (EU) energy crisis (2022–2025), shaped by the REPowerEU initiative and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It fills a gap in international media studies by examining how global news outlets construct hegemonic narratives around energy geopolitics. Using Robert N. Entman’s four-element framing model and Savaş Çoban’s (2018) seven dimensions of media hegemony, the study employs a qualitative interpretivist approach to 30 CNN articles. The findings reveal a consistent framing that attributes the crisis to Russian aggression, portrays the EU as morally resilient, and advances technocratic, market-oriented remedies aligned with neoliberal orthodoxy, while marginalizing oppositional voices, social inequalities, and non-Western perspectives. Theoretically, the research contributes by bridging framing analysis with a critical perspective on media hegemony. Practically, it demonstrates how mainstream media legitimizes specific policy paths while constraining alternatives, thereby reinforcing Western geopolitical dominance. These insights highlight the political power of media framing in shaping global understandings of crisis and governance.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving digital era, enhancing teacher competence has become a critical focus for educational institutions globally. The integration of technology into teaching and learning processes necessitates continuous professional development and resilience among educators. This study, employing a qualitative literature review method, explores various strategies to enhance teacher competence in the digital age. It identifies key approaches including digital literacy training, collaborative learning communities, mentorship programs, and self-directed learning to improve teachers' technological skills and pedagogical practices. Additionally, the study examines how fostering resilience can help educators adapt to the challenges and pressures associated with technology integration. The findings emphasize the importance of professional development frameworks that not only focus on technological skills but also emphasize psychological well-being and adaptability. By identifying successful strategies, this paper provides valuable insights for policymakers, educational leaders, and teachers to improve the overall quality of education in the digital era.

Abstract

The Indonesian government positions tourism villages as a strategic instrument for advancing sustainability, yet the determinants of their success remain underexplored. This study investigates how destination competitiveness, community participation, and local empowerment shape the development of Bilebante Village, Lombok. Previous studies have addressed isolated issues such as participation or empowerment, but none have identified the core reasons for the village’s overall success. This gap is critical because identifying what truly makes a village succeed is essential for advancing tourism village development. A qualitative case study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with six purposively selected Pokdarwis members and participatory observation across the village’s zones. Data were analyzed with Miles and Huberman’s interactive model through thematic coding on competitiveness, participation, and empowerment. The findings show that Bilebante’s success emerges from the interaction of three interconnected factors. Its green tourism attractions provide a competitive advantage that is reinforced by strong community participation. Through this participation, residents gain skills and confidence, creating empowerment that drives further innovation and, in turn, strengthens competitiveness. Theoretically, this study contributes to rural tourism literature by showing how competitiveness, participation, and empowerment operate in a mutually reinforcing cycle rather than in isolation. Practically, it highlights that government and external support should integrate these three dimensions, and that initiatives such as community learning hubs and inter-village exchange programs can help replicate Bilebante’s model in other contexts.

Abstract

Sabang, located at the westernmost tip of Indonesia, is a tourism destination that illustrates the complex interaction between local Islamic governance and global travel behavior. The implementation of Qanun, or regional Islamic bylaws, poses distinct challenges for tourism development, particularly in accommodating visitors unfamiliar with these regulations. This study analyzes how Qanun, destination branding, and tourist attitudes influence travel decisions related to Sabang. Using a quantitative descriptive design, data were collected from 100 potential travelers in Jakarta. The results show that tourist attitudes significantly affect travel decisions, whereas Qanun and destination branding do not have direct effects. The findings underscore the importance of adaptive governance and culturally responsive communication in promoting inclusive tourism. By aligning religious regulations with global market expectations, this study contributes to the development of sustainable and culturally sensitive tourism policies that harmonize local wisdom, visitor experience, and destination competitiveness.
