Abstract

This research critically examines unfair business competition practices in the cooking oil industry through an analysis of the Decision of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (Komisi Pengawas Persaingan Usaha/KPPU) Number 15/KPPU-I/2022. The study is grounded in observable market distortions, reflected in commodity scarcity and significant price increases that cannot be fully explained by normal market mechanisms. This research aims to analyze the dynamics of unfair business competition practices in the cooking oil industry, evaluate the effectiveness of existing regulations under Law Number 5 of 1999, and identify weaknesses in law enforcement, particularly evidentiary challenges and institutional constraints, through a critical examination of the KPPU decision. This research employed a normative juridical method utilizing both a statutory approach and a case approach. The findings indicate that the legal framework under Law Number 5 of 1999 on the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition formally provides adequate regulation of cartel practices; however, its implementation remains substantially constrained, particularly with respect to evidentiary challenges and enforcement effectiveness. The Commission’s decision in the case at hand confirms violations in the form of distribution restrictions, yet fails to comprehensively address all indications of cartel conduct. This reflects a persistent gap between legal norms (das sollen) and actual market practices (das sein). Accordingly, strengthening evidentiary mechanisms, institutional capacity, and inter-agency coordination is imperative to enhance the effectiveness of competition law enforcement in Indonesia.

Abstract

Drug stability is an important parameter in ensuring the quality, safety, and effectiveness of pharmaceutical preparations during storage. Conventional stability testing requires a long period of time; therefore, accelerated stability testing methods based on the Arrhenius equation have been developed to accelerate the prediction of drug shelf life. This review article aims to examine the application of Accelerated Stability Testing (AST), Accelerated Shelf Life Testing (ASLT), Accelerated Predictive Stability (APS), and the Accelerated Stability Assessment Program (ASAP) in predicting the stability of various pharmaceutical dosage forms. The research method used was a narrative literature review, analyzing 10 national and international original research articles published between 2016 and 2026, obtained from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and MDPI databases. The results of the review showed that the Arrhenius approach was able to provide accurate shelf-life predictions for liquid, semisolid, solid, biological, and herbal dosage forms. Temperature, humidity, oxygen exposure, and packaging type were identified as factors affecting the degradation rate of pharmaceutical products during storage. In addition, Arrhenius-based predictive stability models were considered effective in accelerating product development and supporting pharmaceutical registration processes. In conclusion, the Arrhenius kinetic approach is an efficient and valid method for stability evaluation and shelf-life prediction of modern pharmaceutical products.

Abstract

This study analyzes the compliance of the 2025 Fiscal Year Village Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBKal) of Bangunjiwo Village, Kapanewon Kasihan, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, with the provisions of Minister of Home Affairs Regulation No. 20 of 2018 and Bantul Regent Regulation No. 52 of 2024. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through documentation review, semi-structured interviews with village planning officials, and examination of publicly available budget information on the official village website. The study evaluates nine key stages of the APBKal preparation process, covering planning hierarchy, public consultation, Bamuskal approval, evaluation by Kapanewon, budget determination, administrative use of technology, publication and transparency, and special provisions for Village Fund allocation. The findings indicate that Bangunjiwo Village demonstrates a generally high level of regulatory compliance. The planning process adhered to the hierarchical sequence from RPJMKal to RKPKal and APBKal, coordinated systematically by the Village Secretary. Public consultations meaningfully involved community leaders and village institutions, reflecting substantive participation rather than mere procedural formality. Budget administration was conducted through the Siskeudes and E-RAB applications, ensuring administrative orderliness. Village Fund allocations for food security (20.21%) and Direct Cash Assistance (11%) met the prescribed thresholds. Budget information was transparently published through the official village website in accordance with applicable regulations. However, one notable non-compliance was identified: the Bamuskal approval of the draft APBKal was conducted in December 2024, exceeding the deadline of November as stipulated by Bantul Regent Regulation No. 52 of 2024.

Abstract

The construction sector currently faces increasingly dynamic challenges, particularly in healthcare infrastructure development, which requires high standards of functionality and timeliness. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of project management through cost and schedule performance analysis using the Earned Value Management (EVM) method on a hospital building construction project. The research approach used is descriptive evaluative, analyzing three main variables: Budgeted Cost Work (BCC), and Cost of Goods and Services (CW). Schedule (BCWS), Budgeted Cost Work Performed (BCWP), and Actual Cost Work Performed (ACWP). Results study disclose existence difference significant between achievements financial and time effectiveness. In terms of schedule, the project experienced a projected deviation resulting in a delay of 60 calendar days from the initial contract duration of 360 days. However, financially, the project management has successfully demonstrated very efficient performance. This project is projected to achieve cost savings of Rp. 718,520,400.00 with a total estimated final cost (EAC) of Rp. 38,731,479,600.00 from a total contract value of Rp. 39,450,000,000.00 billion. These results confirm that the implementation of a strict cost control system is able to produce positive budget optimization for the project owner despite facing constraints on the work time aspect.

Abstract

Terrariums have gained popularity as decorative elements that combine aesthetic value with low-maintenance plant care, particularly among urban and hobbyist communities. Understanding the factors that drive purchase decisions in such niche markets is essential for producers and marketers. This research aims to examine the factors influencing terrarium purchase decisions among members of the Celebes Plant Lovers community. The research employs a quantitative approach using binary logistic regression analysis based on data collected from 107 respondents. The independent variables include aesthetic appeal, type of terrarium, type of plant, maintenance, price, and purchasing platform, while the dependent variable is the purchase decision. The results show that the regression model is statistically significant (χ²(6) = 12.87, p = 0.045) and explains 18.2% of the variance in purchase decisions (Nagelkerke R² = 0.182), with an overall classification accuracy of 82.2%. Among the examined variables, only aesthetic appeal has a significant effect on purchase decisions (β = 0.965, p = 0.035), indicating that higher aesthetic value increases the likelihood of purchasing terrarium products. Other variables—such as type of terrarium, type of plant, maintenance, price, and purchasing platform—do not show significant effects. These findings highlight the importance of visual attractiveness in influencing consumer behaviour, particularly in hobby-based communities. The study contributes to the understanding of consumer decision-making by emphasizing the dominant role of aesthetics over functional and economic factors in niche markets.

Abstract

Giant thyroid goiters remain a health problem in areas with limited access to primary health care. Delays in diagnosis and treatment can lead to progressive enlargement, compressive symptoms, and greater surgical challenges. This case report aimed to describe the management of a giant thyroid goiter in a hospital with limited resources. A 61-year-old man presented to the surgical outpatient clinic at Dr. Darsono Pacitan Regional General Hospital with a large mass on the right anterior side of the neck that had been present for 20 years. Initially, the mass was approximately the size of a thumb, but it gradually enlarged to approximately 10 × 10 × 8 cm. Physical examination revealed a firm, lobulated mass that moved with swallowing, extending from below the chin to the suprasternal notch, accompanied by dilated superficial blood vessels. The patient also reported dysphagia, shortness of breath that had begun five days before the examination, and hoarseness that had persisted for five years. No cervical lymphadenopathy, history of radiation exposure, chronic disease, previous surgery, or family history of similar disease was found. Based on the compressive symptoms and the very large size of the mass, unilateral thyroidectomy was performed with good outcomes. This case demonstrates that a giant multinodular goiter can cause compressive symptoms and present surgical challenges; however, it can still be safely managed through a well-planned unilateral thyroidectomy.

Abstract

Visual Health Education: A Creative Campaign Through Infographic Design Training Using Canva For High School Students explores health education for high school students, which requires a communicative and creative approach aligned with the characteristics of the digital generation. One strategy that can be applied is a visually based health campaign through infographic design training using Canva. This study aims to describe the implementation of health infographic design training using Canva and analyze its contribution to improving students’ health understanding, digital literacy, and visual communication creativity. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a participatory training approach. The activities were carried out through stages including identifying needs, delivering health-related materials, introducing infographic design principles, practicing the use of Canva, assisting with product development, and presenting the results of visual campaigns. Data were collected through observation, documentation of student work, participant reflections, and brief interviews. The results showed that Canva-based infographic design training increased student engagement in understanding health issues, primarily because the information was presented in a simple, engaging, and easily shareable format. Students acted not only as recipients of information but also as creators of health messages, able to process data, construct visual narratives, and convey preventive advice to their peers. These findings confirm that visually based health education can be an innovative strategy in school health promotion while strengthening students’ digital literacy and creative communication skills.

Abstract

The Effect of Variations in Temperature and Humidity Based on OIML R 111-1: 2004 on the Calibration of F1-Class Weighing Scale Weight Standards investigates the accuracy of mass measurement, which is an important aspect of modern commerce, particularly for consumer protection and the maintenance of orderly trade. The OIML R 111-1:2004 standard defines requirements related to environmental conditions and physical characteristics for weight standards and calibration processes. This study aimed to analyze the effects of temperature and humidity variations on the calibration results of F1-class weights based on the OIML R 111-1:2004 standard. The research was conducted by observing standard and test mass readings within a temperature range of 18.0 °C to 25.0 °C and relative humidity (RH) levels between 50% and 60%. The data were analyzed using a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) to test the significance of individual factors and their interaction effects between environmental variables. The results showed that increasing temperature linearly increased the balance reading values while decreasing air density from 1.19206 kg/m³ to 1.16081 kg/m³. Statistical analysis using ANOVA confirmed that variations in temperature and humidity had a highly significant effect on calibration results, with a p-value of 5.27 × 10⁻¹³⁴ under conventional mass conditions. The interaction between temperature and humidity was also significant, with an F-value of 1001.78, far exceeding the critical F-value of 1.84. Despite environmental fluctuations, conventional mass correction methods remained effective in maintaining result stability, with very low variance values in the range of 10⁻¹⁰ to 10⁻¹¹. All conventional mass values remained below the Maximum Permissible Error (MPE) limit of 5.0 mg for a nominal 1 kg F1-class weight. This study concludes that the application of buoyancy correction in accordance with OIML R 111-1:2004 is essential to maintain calibration accuracy under varying environmental conditions that significantly affect measurement results.

Abstract

The availability of clean water is a basic need that has a direct impact on the quality of life of rural communities. However, the development of clean water infrastructure in Maholo Village, East Lore District, Poso Regency, still faces challenges, particularly regarding suboptimal community involvement and the slow response of officers in handling field issues. This study aims to analyze community participation in the development of clean water infrastructure in Maholo Village by referring to the three stages of participation according to Cohen and Uphoff (1979): planning, implementation, and utilization of results. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and is based on the theory of community participation by Cohen and Uphoff (1979), which includes planning, implementation, and utilization. The informants consist of five individuals: the Village Head, the Head of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), a clean water officer, a community leader, and a water user. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that community participation remains suboptimal and tends to be passive. In the planning stage, community involvement is still limited. In the implementation stage, participation remains low. Meanwhile, in the utilization stage, the community has benefited from the existing infrastructure; however, there are still complaints regarding service quality, particularly the slow response of officers in handling damages and water distribution disruptions. In conclusion, community participation needs to be improved, particularly in the planning and implementation stages, as well as through enhancing service quality. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen communication, transparency, and responsiveness between the village government and the community to support the sustainability of clean water infrastructure management.
