Abstract

One of the air pollutants that can cause health problems is particulate matter. Continuous exposure to PM10 can lead to various health issues, especially the ones related to the respiratory system. Workers at PT. X Palu have a higher risk of developing diseases caused by PM10 exposure. This is because they work and remain in an environment with PM10 exposure throughout their working hours. The purpose of this research is to analyze health risks due to PM10 exposure among C mining workers at PT. X Palu. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with an environmental health risk analysis (EHRA) approach. The study population consisted of 15 workers selected using a total sampling technique. PM10 samples were collected using an air sampler. Measurements were taken at 3 location points every hour during operational hours in the mining area, along with filling out observation sheets and interviewing respondents. The results showed that the PM10 concentration outdoor was 0.07777778 mg/m³. This value exceeds the quality standard set by the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023 for a 24-hour period, which is 75 µg/m³ or 0.075 mg/m³. The PM10 intake values ranged from a minimum of 0.0309 mg/kg/day to a maximum of 0.2534 mg/kg/day. The RQ values were ?1, indicating that the workers were not at risk. Based on all the measurements conducted, it can be concluded that although the PM10 concentration at PT. X Palu exceeds the quality standard, the workers are not at risk. It is recommended that PT. X Palu implement health promotion programs for employees to help prevent the health impacts of PM10 exposure, monitor policies regarding the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and conduct routine medical check-ups for workers.

Abstract

Central Sulawesi Province has high economic potential, especially in the manufacturing, mining and agricultural sectors. However, this potential has not been able to lift Central Sulawesi Province out of poverty, which is 12.41 percent. This analysis aims to see the effect of labor, per capita income and human quality on poverty in districts and cities of Central Sulawesi Province in 2021–2023 through a panel data regression approach. This study shows that per capita income and the Human Development Index (HDI) have a significant negative effect on district/city poverty, while the Labor Force Participation Rate (LP) variable does not have a significant effect. Per capita income has a “trickle-down” effect that helps alleviate poverty, while a higher HDI is correlated with poverty reduction. The results of this analysis suggest the need for policies that focus on increasing HDI through access to education and health, as well as increasing income/capita through the development of leading economic sectors.

Abstract

Early introduction of complementary foods (MP-ASI) remains a public health problem. Family and socio-cultural factors play an important role in influencing mothers' decisions to provide complementary foods prematurely. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family and socio-cultural support and the practice of providing complementary foods to infants under 6 months of age in Tataaran II Village. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 89 mothers with infants aged 0–9 months. The sampling technique was total sampling with data collection through questionnaires distributed directly or via Google Form, then data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between family support and the provision of complementary foods (p-value <0.001; p <0.05). In addition, there was also a significant relationship between socio-cultural factors and the provision of complementary foods (p-value <0.001; p <0.05). These findings suggest that family support and sociocultural factors play a significant role in encouraging the practice of introducing complementary foods too early, necessitating more intensive educational efforts regarding the importance of exclusive breastfeeding until the infant is 6 months old.

Abstract

Rotavirus is a leading cause of severe diarrhea among children globally, including in Indonesia, where the prevalence of diarrhea in children under five reaches 9.8% (SSGI 2021). Diarrhea contributes as the second leading cause of death after pneumonia among children aged 29 days–11 months (9.8%) and toddlers aged 12–59 months (4.55%). Rotavirus (RV) immunization is recommended by WHO and ITAGI as an effective preventive measure, yet its coverage in Indonesia remains low (5.4% of the 16% target as of March 2025). Based on a preliminary survey at Limboto Health Center, Gorontalo Regency, the RV immunization coverage in 2024 was 71.2%, with findings showing that parents did not fully understand the benefits of RV. This study aims to examine the factors associated with the achievement of Rotavirus Immunization among infants aged 6–12 months in the working area of Limboto Health Center, Gorontalo Regency. The research method used was observational analytic research with a cross-sectional approach in the working area of Limboto Health Center. Population: 718 parents of infants aged 6–12 months. Sample: 88 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) handbook and analyzed using univariate and bivariate (Chi-Square test) analyses. Results: There was a significant relationship between education and RV immunization coverage (p-value = 0.013), knowledge and RV immunization coverage (p-value = 0.000), and the role of health workers and RV immunization coverage (p-value = 0.001). Conclusion: Educational level, knowledge, and the role of health workers are significantly associated with Rotavirus immunization coverage among infants aged 6–12 months at Limboto Health Center. Efforts to increase RV coverage should focus on educating parents (especially those with lower education levels) and optimizing the role of health workers as communicators, motivators, and facilitators.
