Abstract

The settlements in Cempae are shaped by the daily activities of the community, particularly in relation to fishing. The settlement patterns are directly connected to water bodies and village roads, with the sea serving as the central orientation. The location and form of traditional fishing settlements in Cempae are influenced by the inhabitants' occupations. A prevalent issue today is the development of new settlements located far from workplaces, with designs that do not reflect the residents' professions. This often leads to rejection and abandonment of these new settlements. Therefore, research is needed to explain the influence of livelihoods on fishing settlement patterns. This study aims to analyze the patterns of traditional fishing settlements in Cempae that align with fishing livelihoods. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with direct surveys to the settlement locations, providing detailed descriptions of the existing conditions. The results show that livelihoods influence the patterns of traditional fishing settlements in Cempae, as seen in the orientation of buildings facing the source of livelihood, namely the sea.

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in the progress of a nation. Through effective education, a nation can acquire new knowledge that can be used to develop superior human resources. One of the subjects that can bring about change and development in society, particularly for students, is History. Aspects of digital literacy skills include the ability to access (access skill), analyze (analyze skill), evaluate (evaluate skill), and participate (participate skill). This research is classified as quantitative research, using a quasi-experimental design. The results of this study indicate an effect of using e-magazine learning media in history subjects on the digital literacy of 11th-grade students at SMAN 5 Pekanbaru. Based on the hypothesis test conducted, the calculated t-value thitung was 7.270, while the critical t-value ttabel was 1.661. The comparison shows that thitung > ttabel 7.270 > 1.661), meaning that the alternative hypothesis Ha is accepted and the null hypothesis H0 is rejected. This signifies that the application of e-magazine learning media in history subjects has an impact on the digital literacy skills of 11th-grade students at SMAN 5 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease affecting millions globally, characterized by pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. While conventional treatments, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), physical therapy, and surgery offer symptomatic relief, they often have associated side effects and long-term risks. In contrast, acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medicine technique, has emerged as a popular alternative for OA management. Despite its extensive use, debates persist regarding the physiological mechanisms underlying acupuncture and its long-term efficacy. Methods: This literature review examines recent clinical studies and meta-analyses focused on acupuncture therapy for OA. The analysis involved selecting articles from respected databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus, and concentrated on randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, and cohort studies published in the past decade. Results: The analysis reveals that acupuncture can significantly alleviate OA-related pain and enhance joint function. Research indicates that acupuncture facilitates the release of endorphins, modulates inflammatory responses, and improves blood circulation in the affected joints. Notably, electroacupuncture, an advanced form of traditional acupuncture, has shown superior effectiveness in relieving OA symptoms. However, the diversity in study designs, acupuncture methods, and individual patient reactions creates challenges in formulating standardized treatment protocols. Conclusion: Acupuncture emerges as a promising complementary therapy for OA, providing pain relief and improved mobility with minimal side effects. Nevertheless, additional high-quality research is essential to establish comprehensive treatment protocols, verify long-term benefits, and incorporate acupuncture into evidence-based medical practice.
