Abstract

Madura Batik, particularly the batik centre in Klampar village, is a productive centre for producing Madura batik. However, as the digital era has developed, the batik artisans have faced many challenges, both in production and in marketing. This study aims to identify the forms of social and cultural resistance employed by female batik artisans in Klampar village to maintain the existence and development of their batik business. The research method used was qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data for the study were collected through observation, structured and in-depth interviews, and documentation. This research conducted in the Batik Centre in Klampar, Pamekasan, in September to Oktober 2025. The results of the study revealed the existence of social and cultural resistance forms carried out by batik artisans. According to James C. Scott's theory, there are two types of resistance: open and closed. Pertama, resistensi terbuka yang terjadi dalam bentuk perlawanan langsung pengrajin batik Klampar terhadap pemerintah yang kurang memperhatikan mereka. Secondly, there is closed resistance, which includes anonymity: the batik artisans use social media for digital marketing. Euphemism: the artisans criticise the government using polite language. Grumbling: the artisans hold closed discussions about not complying with the government's plans to move the batik market, and there is a gender relations construct in the resistance that positions women in a productive role, but there is a disparity in access to capital.

Abstract

Women play a strategic role in mangrove ecosystem conservation efforts, particularly as actors directly involved in utilization, management, and ecological knowledge. This research aim to describing the forms of women's involvement in mangrove ecosystem conservation in Bukit Batu Village, Bengkalis Regency. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method used a purposive sampling technique. Data were accumulated through in-depth interview, participant observation, and documentation, then analyzed through data reductions, data presentations, also conclusions. The results show that women's involvement in mangrove ecosystem conservation in Bukit Batu Village is evident through public awareness activities on the importance of conservation, environmental maintenance practices, and the utilization and processing of mangroves, particularly nipah and nyirih palms. Both types are used for household, economic, cultural, cosmetic, and tourism development purposes. These findings confirm that women's contributions not only influence ecosystem sustainability but also improve the welfare of families and communities. Ecofeminism strengthens women's position as ecological agents who have a crucial role in balancing human-nature relations through gender-based sustainability practices.

Abstract

PT IMIP is one of the Indonesian Government’s flagship nickel industrial estates, widely presented by the government as a strategic industrial estate that contributes significantly to the national economy. Despite its economic significance, the industrial estate continues to face serious labor concerns, especially regarding workplace safety and the recurring occurrence of fatal accidents. This study explains how labor pacification operates within industrial relations in PT IMIP under the Omnibus Law on Job Creation regime. Using Richard Hyman’s theory of state intervention, pacification refers to a mechanism through which the state manages, contains, or suppresses labor conflict in order to preserve industrial and socio-political stability. The findings show that workers' endurance of life-threatening working conditions reflects not individual consent, but structural constraints arising from limited employment opportunities and economic pressure. Labor pacification in this context does not primarily occur through direct repression, but through structural mechanisms that lead workers to accept and tolerate precarious and unsafe working conditions.
