Abstract

The rapid spread of a meme thought to influence both individual and social behavior. The meme uses symbols to convey ideas and ideas. In practice, memes are also used as a means of patriarchal power legitimation through symbolic violence. Through the processing of language and images into symbols, memes are thought to be a tool of men's legitimacy. This article discusses several forms of content of harassment against women in the form of internet memes. First, the memes are analyzed by grasping the meaning of the symbols in them using semiotics' theory. Then, using Pierre Bourdieu's symbolic violence theory: habitus, capital, arenas, and symbolic violence, memes are analyzed to find the factors that cause the appearance of memes with the content of harassment against women. The results indicate that stereotype, gender bias, and mental structure are habitus structure which plays an essential role so that symbolic violence becomes natural for its victims. The internet, as an arena, has become the initial capital for men to dominate. Also, naming and mentioning are forms of symbolic violence against women by forming certain boundaries and categories.

This study used a descriptive qualitative method with content analysis techniques. Data collection was carried out by a descriptive survey through relevant research article data sources, library data sources, printed books containing a collection of Aan Mansyur's short stories published by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2012. The analysis focused on the Mansyur author's thinking, social issues, traditional culture, and modern culture regarding women. The results of the study, namely the type of feminist used by the author Mansyur is existential feminism. In this case, the mother character in the short story in the Coconut Gardens in my Head shows its existence as a human being who can compete in the public sphere. Auntie Mare can pay for her children's education by working. In terms of culture, there has been a change from traditional to modern culture. Aunt Mare's character is no longer employed as ata or slave in the Bone tradition but is given a job as a gardener and barber. Generally, this work is carried out by men but through the author Mansyur, the job is taken over by women. Mansyur's short story found the phenomenon of gender injustice including marginalization, subordination, stereotyping, physical violence, and workload problems

Abstract

This study is aimed to describe the maturity of students' career choices because they are important after graduating from college and looking for work. Field findings on Islamic Psychology students of UIN Imam Bonjol Padang are still many students anxious and doubtful in their choice, especially students of rare study programs who are interested, while students of study programs who are interested in such as Islamic Psychology believe that their career choice is clearer. This study is purposed to analyze the elements of gender, organizational activeness, and school origin, their relationship with career maturity. The research was conducted in the Islamic Psychology Department using quantitative methods; the population was all students, totaling 656 people, with a sample of 132 people who were selected using the quota sampling technique. Data were collected using a career maturity scale measuring instrument and then analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that there was no difference in career maturity between male and female students. This indicates that women view careers the same as men. This study also shows that there is no difference in career maturity between students who are active in organizations and those who are not. This indicates that the gender factor does not affect career maturity and activeness in campus organizations. Other results of this study indicate that there is no difference in career maturity based on school origin. Both students who come from Islamic boarding schools, MA, SMA, and SMK tend to have the same career maturity after being at the University

Abstract

Besides rhythm, song lyrics are an important part of a song. As a medium for the expression of the author, song lyrics can be a means of socialization and preservation of certain values, so that they are often regarded as literary works as well as poetry. Song lyrics were written and sung by Tulus for example, are considered to contain their perspectives on love relations and gender equality. The songs Teman Hidup, Sepatu, Jangan Cintai Aku Apa Adanya, and Tuan Nona Kesepian are the objects of this study which was studied with descriptive-qualitative analysis methods, through the approach of feminist studies and popular culture. The results showed that in these songs, it was revealed that women tend to be positioned parallel to men. Like men, women are seen to be able to make decisions, are brave, and strong in solving problems. Research on gender equality [or inequality] in various popular culture media such as songs does need to be carried out continuously to build insight and awareness of the audience.

Abstract

This writing aimed to find out how the forms of legal protection for women workers are stipulated in Law No. 13 of 2003 concerning employment as viewed from an Islamic law perspective. To answer the problems in this study, the authors conducted formative research with a comparative legal study specification. The research method used is library research. The results showed that the legal protection provided by law in the aspects of working time, workplace, leave, menstruation, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and work safety is not balanced with the biological tendency of women that could be painful, and even tend not to make women productive. At the same time, the law does not pay attention to the tendency of today's society that has a higher crime rate so that it is dangerous for women to work at night or in places where they cannot bring their mahram (a member of one’s family). The lack of clarity in attitudes and procedures for legal protection for women workers, according to Islamic law, is not proportional to the risks that will be received by families because they work outside the home beyond their time for children and families.
