Abstract

This study employs a qualitative research design to explore the lived experiences of teachers regarding the removal of administrative tasks as mandated by DepEd Order No. 002, s. 2024. It aims to gain an in-depth understanding of how this policy shift influenced teachers’ instructional practices, professional development, student learning outcomes, well-being, and job satisfaction. Using a phenomenological approach, the study conducted semi-structured interviews with ten public school teachers from the Mandaon South District to capture their narratives and personal insights. The data gathered were analyzed through Braun and Clarke’s (2006) six-phase thematic analysis, which enabled the identification of recurring patterns and themes reflective of the participants' experiences. The findings revealed that while the removal of administrative duties enhanced instructional quality, teacher focus, and work-life balance, these benefits varied due to inconsistencies in implementation. Challenges such as unclear role boundaries, insufficient institutional support, and lingering workload stress were also noted. Teachers emphasized the importance of strategic staffing, sustained professional development, and access to learner-centered resources to maximize the policy's intended impact. Overall, the study highlights the transformative potential of administrative relief when coupled with consistent execution and robust support systems. The results provide valuable implications for education policymakers and school leaders striving to improve teacher effectiveness and well-being.

Abstract

This study reviewed and analyzed the anti-sexual harassment policies and procedures of NYK-Fil Ship Management, focusing on the protection of female seafarers. Using a mixed-methods design, the research gathered quantitative data from a descriptive survey and qualitative insights from interviews with NYK-Fil office personnel and representatives from other manning agencies. Findings revealed that awareness of anti-sexual harassment policies among NYK-Fil seafarers is high, with no significant differences across age, rank, or experience. However, the interviews pointed out ongoing challenges, including fear of retaliation, cultural issues onboard, and gaps in leadership accountability. While NYK-Fil’s policies align with the requirements of Republic Act 12021 (Magna Carta for Seafarers), the study highlighted areas for improvement, including clearer communication, inclusive policy enhancements, and stronger leadership accountability. The findings suggest that awareness alone is insufficient; lasting protection depends on consistent enforcement and cultural transformation within the industry to fully protect all seafarers.

Abstract

During S.Y. 2024–2025, this study looked at how school principals in the Division of Cavite, implemented special education (SPED) programs. A questionnaire created by the researcher was used to collect data from 120 school principals using a descriptive-quantitative design. The results showed that principals were very involved in advocacy (4.59), including students with disabilities in decision-making (4.78), and keeping an eye on inclusive practices (4.53). However, stakeholder engagement (2.85) and staff professional development (2.64) received lower ratings. Stakeholder engagement (2.46) and innovation (2.81) trailed behind integrity (4.88), motivation (4.82), and feedback (4.72), which were all highly correlated with leadership behaviors. Keeping up with technology (4.85), scarce resources (4.79), and resolving conflicts (4.76) were the main obstacles. Principals' engagement and leadership behaviors were found to be significantly positively correlated (r = 0.819, p <.001). In order to improve inclusive education outcomes, a development program that emphasizes leadership training, resource management, teamwork, staff professional development, and parent-community partnerships was suggested in light of these findings.

Abstract

This study examined the use of blockchain technology in the PNP National Police Clearance System (NPCS) to improve public trust. It first assessed trust in the current Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) based on availability, security, immutability, and transparency. Using an explanatory sequential method, the research surveyed 950 applicants and 175 end-users, and conducted 20 key informant interviews. Findings showed that while the public generally trusts the RDBMS (Availability M=3.25; Security M=3.32; Immutability M=3.29; Transparency M=3.22), they also viewed challenges as serious (Availability M=2.95; Security M=2.83; Immutability M=2.79; Transparency M=2.84). Issues included limited access, weak security, data integrity problems, lack of history logs, and poor control mechanisms. Blockchain technology was recommended as an alternative (Availability M=3.18; Security M=3.23; Immutability M=3.27; Transparency M=3.21). Statistical tests revealed significant differences based on awareness, gender, occupation, application purpose, and location. Regression showed a low dependency of blockchain on RDBMS (r²=0.27), but a moderate correlation between the two (0.52, t=16.75). Overall, the study recommends adopting blockchain in the NPCS to strengthen public trust.

Abstract

The Studio Ghibli AI trend, an online phenomenon that has sparked a widespread fascination amongst individuals, swept across social media platforms after gaining significant traction on March 26. Grant Slatton, a software engineer later branded as the trendsetter, posted an AI-generated image of him and his wife along with their dog at the beach, rendered in the signature style of Studio Ghibli. The researchers noticed that many scholars have conducted similar research about the use of AI in Ghibli-style art; however, the research results are lacking, and more findings are needed to understand the topic thoroughly. The main objective of this study is to identify the dominant discourse used by the netizens present during the online discussion. Identifying the dominant discourse use will help the researchers understand why netizens use this discourse to gain power through language use. This research will analyse the dominant discourse use found in the comment section, specifically, it analyzes the prevailing discourse patterns in the social media discussion using Harris's (1952) framework; these dominant discourses were analyzed to examine how it is being used to establish power through language use in the comment section. The findings reveal that the dominant discourse presented in the corpora includes: "AI" as a noun (negative), "AI"-related adjectives (as insults), "art" (AI art not being recognized as art), and "artist" (AI prompters not recognized as artists). The findings suggest that many netizens struggle to comprehend the nature of AI and how it is being used today.

Abstract

This research paper presents a comparative analysis of the narratives from biological and trans women regarding the inclusion of trans women in celebrating Women's History Month. Utilizing Labov and Waletzky's Structural Approach to Narrative, the study examines the linguistic nuances in the narratives of ten participants—five trans women advocating for inclusion (Group A) and five biological women expressing reservation about trans women’s inclusion (Group B). The analysis reveals significant differences between the two groups' use of evaluative and referential clauses. Group A's narratives predominantly feature evaluative clauses (59%), reflecting personal emotions and subjective interpretations of their experiences. Group B's narratives are characterized by a higher percentage of referential clauses (65%), focusing on their actual experiences and centering on the factual events. This disparity illustrates how each group's beliefs manifest in their narratives, highlighting the complexities of gender identity and inclusion within feminist discourse. The findings also revealed the importance of identifying referential and evaluative clauses in understanding the stances of trans and biological women, further underscoring the importance of recognizing diverse perspectives in the ongoing conversation about women's rights and the need for a deeper understanding of the implications of these differences in shaping feminist narratives. This study contributes valuable insights to the fields of feminism, linguistics, and social activism, advocating for a more inclusive dialogue that honors the experiences of all women.

Abstract

This study investigated the viability of a low-cost hydroponic system for food security in the Zamboanga Peninsula, employing a mixed-methods approach. The research assessed the acceptability, growth performance, and economic feasibility of hydroponic lettuce production using locally sourced organic inputs, specifically Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ). Hydroponics is seen as beneficial for addressing space limitations and improving food security in the region, though adoption is hindered by limited technical knowledge, material access, and capital. Estrosa and Olmetie lettuce varieties showed optimal performance.  Nitrate levels in Estrosa and Green Wave were undetectable, and while Olmetie and Invicta absorbed more nitrate with FPJ, all levels remained within international safety limits. Cadmium was not detected. Recommendations for the Zamboanga Peninsula include agricultural modernization through technical training, start-up assistance, material accessibility, and R&D support. Public awareness campaigns for low-cost hydroponics using FPJ, crop diversification, farmer engagement, and urban/peri-urban adoption incentives are also suggested. Growers are advised to prioritize Estrosa and Green Wave for lower nitrate uptake and ensure correct FPJ preparation.

Abstract

Coast Guard Drill Instructors (CGDIs) play a vital role in shaping recruits into disciplined service members. However, the demanding nature of their profession can impact overall wellness, making it essential to assess and address health concerns to sustain both individual performance and organizational effectiveness. This study examined the wellness indices of CGDIs by evaluating their physical, mental, and emotional health and explored how demographic factors may influence these dimensions. The primary goal was to develop a tailored Health Management Program suited to their specific needs. A mixed-methods design was employed, integrating quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews. Standardized instruments—including the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21), and Emotional Style Questionnaire (ESQ)—were used to assess wellness levels. ANOVA was conducted to identify significant differences across demographic groups, while interviews with a PCG psychologist and selected military personnel provided richer contextual insights. Findings indicated that while the majority of CGDIs maintain stable mental health, a subset exhibited extreme symptoms of depression and anxiety, particularly CGDIs who are single, junior in rank and those assigned far distant from the place of residence. Despite the physically demanding nature of their duties, a significant level of sedentary behavior was reported. Emotional wellness was found to be moderate overall, with differences noted by age, birth order, and RTC assignment. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic imposed unprecedented disruptions in educational systems, significantly affecting the practicum experiences of teaching interns. This study examined the post-pandemic levels of teaching anxiety and teaching self-efficacy among pre-service teachers at Cavite State University Naic. Utilizing a descriptive-correlational research design, data were collected from 92 Bachelor of Elementary and Secondary Education interns through the Teaching Anxiety Scale (TAS) and Teaching Self-Efficacy Scale (TSES). Results indicated that respondents exhibited generally high levels of teaching self-efficacy, particularly in classroom management and instructional strategies, despite reporting moderate and varied levels of teaching anxiety. A weak yet statistically significant positive correlation (r = 0.292, p < 0.01) was found between self-efficacy and teaching anxiety. Regression analysis further revealed that teaching anxiety significantly predicted teaching self-efficacy (β = 0.254, p = 0.014). These findings highlight the need for structured interventions—including mentorship, stress management, and technology training—to support the psychological and pedagogical preparedness of future educators.

Abstract

This study analyses the internal and external factors influencing school development and student enrollment at Santa Maria 1 Senior High School, Cirebon. Student numbers have fluctuated in the past five years, showing the need for institutional improvement. This research adopts a qualitative method, applying the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) technique to identify the root of the problem and formulate appropriate development strategies. The data for this study were obtained through in-depth interviews with various stakeholders, including the foundation, principal, teachers, students, alumni, and parents. The results of this study indicate that school development and the increasing number of students are influenced by a combination of internal factors such as the quality of education program, leadership system, facilities, and the school image, as well as external factors that covered the economic conditions of the community, public perception, and competition with other schools. The root cause includes a lack of innovation in learning programs, promotion strategies were insufficient, and the misalignment of school values with community expectations. This study suggests the need for increased innovative learning programs, maximizing the strategic digital promotion, strengthening the school image, and involvement from active stakeholders to raise the competitiveness and the number of students sustainably.
