Abstract

This study examines the key factors affecting fuel consumption efficiency in construction equipment operations. Using a mixed methods approach, it combines quantitative regression analysis with qualitative interviews of equipment operators. A survey was conducted to gather data on operator behavior, equipment maintenance, equipment condition, worksite environment, and operator experience and training. Regression results showed that among these factors, only operator experience and training significantly predicted fuel efficiency, with R² = .31. Other variables, such as operator behavior, maintenance practices, equipment condition, and worksite environment, were not statistically significant predictors. Qualitative interviews supported these findings. Operators emphasized the importance of situational awareness, experience, and task-specific adjustments in saving fuel. Common strategies included managing engine RPM according to workload, shutting down equipment during idle periods, and using neutral gear on downhill slopes when safe. These practices rely more on operator judgment than on technical specifications. While maintenance, equipment condition, and environmental factors were frequently mentioned, their influence appears indirect or context-dependent. This suggests that technical improvements alone are insufficient without skilled operator input. The study concludes that operator training and experience, play a central role in fuel efficiency. It recommends that construction firms invest in targeted training and behavior-based monitoring to promote sustainable and efficient equipment use.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between job satisfaction, workplace well-being, and job performance in the under-researched office facilities solutions sector. Unlike healthcare or manufacturing, this industry involves routine physical tasks, high client interaction, and varied contracts, yet lacks focused empirical study. Grounded in sustainable human resource management, the research explores how psychosocial workplace factors affect employee behavior and performance. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 41 employees via Likert-scale surveys measuring five job satisfaction, three well-being, and six job performance indicators. Results showed all criteria were frequently observed, with mean scores above 3.80. A very strong positive correlation existed between job satisfaction and workplace well-being (r = .991, p < .01). Regression analysis confirmed both significantly predict job performance (R² = .983), supported by a significant ANOVA (F(2, 38) = 1084.44, p < .001). These findings offer novel sector-specific evidence highlighting the importance of role clarity, organizational support, and workplace conditions in boosting performance and morale. For HR managers and leaders, the study underscores the need to implement clear role communication, foster managerial respect, ensure job security, and promote supportive environments to enhance engagement and productivity. Embedding these factors into sustainable HR practices can reduce turnover, prevent burnout, and improve organizational outcomes. Limitations include self-reported data and a localized sample, suggesting future research should use longitudinal and multi-sector designs to strengthen generalizability.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between fiscal transparency and disbursement efficiency in a local government unit (LGU) in Cebu, Philippines, using publicly available 2024 fiscal data. Transparency is defined as the percentage of actual quarterly disbursement relative to the expected amount—25% of the annual budget per quarter—while efficiency measures the proportion of funds utilized. Both variables are derived from disbursement percentages, contributing to the strong positive correlation and unusually high regression coefficients observed. Linear regression analyses across four quarters reveal a consistent, statistically significant positive relationship between transparency and efficiency. Unstandardized coefficients (B) rise from 0.25 in Quarter 1 to 0.57 in Quarter 4, with Quarter 4 showing the highest standardized beta (β = 10.19, R² = 0.985). These results indicate that transparency increasingly influences efficiency as fiscal pressures mount toward year-end. The findings affirm transparency as a critical governance tool that aligns planned and actual disbursements to improve budget execution. Practically, enhanced transparency fosters accountability, strengthens fiscal discipline, and supports evidence-based resource allocation, which are vital for effective LGU policy and responsive public service delivery. However, the close operational linkage between transparency and efficiency warrants cautious interpretation of coefficient magnitudes. The study recommends performance-informed budgeting, improved monitoring, and inter-agency coordination to balance transparency with execution flexibility, optimizing resource use and governance outcomes in decentralized fiscal systems.

Abstract

This study investigated whether stress coping skills predict academic performance among university students. Using data from 348 participants, a simple linear regression analysis was conducted. The results showed that stress coping significantly predicted academic performance, with the model explaining 12.4% of the variance (R² = .124). The overall regression was statistically significant, F(1, 346) = 49.00, p < .00001. The coefficient for stress coping was positive and significant (β = 0.184, SE = 0.026, t = 7.00, p < .00001), indicating that for each one-unit increase in coping ability, academic performance increased by 0.184 units on average. The intercept was also significant (β = 2.936, SE = 0.090, t = 32.62, p < .00001), representing the expected academic performance score when coping is at its average level. These findings suggest a meaningful positive relationship between students’ ability to manage stress and their academic outcomes. Students who use effective coping strategies, such as emotional regulation and proactive problem-solving, tend to perform better academically.

Abstract

TikTok has transformed Generation Z’s consumer behavior through algorithm-driven content, viral trends, and influencer impact. This study examined TikTok’s influence on 345 university students in Cebu City, assessing exposure (time spent, frequency, user-generated content influence, engagement) and consumer behavior (purchase frequency, intention, brand loyalty, impulse buying). Due to significant non-normality confirmed by Shapiro-Wilk tests, Spearman’s rho was used to analyze relationships. Results revealed a significant positive correlation between TikTok exposure and buying behavior (ρ = 0.480, p < .001), with user-generated content exerting the strongest effect (ρ = 0.517). Impulse buying was notably influenced (ρ = 0.458), especially in fashion and personal care. Findings suggest marketers should leverage authentic peer content and influencer partnerships to engage Gen Z and build brand loyalty, while educators should promote digital literacy to help students critically assess content and control impulse purchases. TikTok serves as both an entertainment platform and a powerful marketing tool, highlighting the need for ethical marketing and informed consumer awareness.

Abstract

Aspirations are long-term ambitions in one’s life.  Farmers aspire to achieve happiness in their faming activities. Happy farmers are satisfied individual that can easily increase their sugarcane production. The study aims to measure the aspirations of the farmers and its correlation to the level of the production of sugarcane crop in the Philippines. Descriptive method was employed in the study. The instrument used was the validated survey questionnaire used by the group of Oñal on their study in 2021. The 320 sugarcane farmers were randomly identified at the seven locations in the Visayas area of the Philippines.  Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) shows that there’s a significant difference in the production of sugarcane among location with an average of 50-64 Tons Cane per hectare (TC/ha) (alpha = 0.05). Furthermore, a significant differences in terms of farmers emotional well-being (happy farmers) indicates a high production of >65 TC/ha (alpha = 0.05). Relatively, the degree of farmers’ happiness have weak to moderate correlation with sugarcane production (alpha = 0.01). Considering that farmers degree of happiness indicates a weak to moderate correlation with productivity, interventions that enhance farmers’ well-being such as; stable pricing, affordable credit, and efficient milling may indirectly contribute to improved yields.

Abstract

This study examines the utilization of capital budgeting techniques and their impact on the financial stability of manufacturing firms in Bulan, Sorsogon. It focuses on how decision-making tools such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period (PBP) shape financial outcomes in terms of liquidity, solvency, and equity strength. Findings show that manufacturing firms rely heavily on the Payback Period, while the application of more advanced methods like NPV and IRR remains limited. Although businesses demonstrate fair liquidity and solvency, their financial structures are highly debt-dependent, exposing them to long-term risks. Regression analysis confirmed that firms using advanced techniques achieve stronger financial stability, while those dependent on simple payback evaluations are more vulnerable to short-term pressures and weaker growth prospects. The study highlights the need for strengthening equity financing, enhancing financial literacy, and adopting sophisticated capital budgeting methods to improve long-term stability. By providing empirical evidence from a local manufacturing context, this research contributes to both practice and scholarship, underscoring that advanced capital budgeting tools not only optimize investment decisions but also safeguard firms against financial vulnerability.
