Abstract

This study examined scientific articles as the basis for a literature review on affective determinants of mathematics learning. These af-fective determinants are the affective factors that are shown to affect mathematics learning, performance and achievements. The study used qualitative method using literature review that applies the con-tent of scientific articles from reputable databases such as ERIC, Web of Science, and PsycINFO. The findings indicate that students’ attitude towards mathematics, goal setting, motivation, self-concept, self-efficacy, self-regulated learning, and study habits significantly impact their mathematical performance and achievement, thereby influenc-ing their mathematics learning. However, the complex and bidirec-tional relationship between these factors and their influence on vari-ous factors, such as parental influences and teaching methods, remain unexplored. The study highlights the need for future research to in-vestigate these research gaps, providing a more comprehensive un-derstanding of the interplay between affective determinants and their impact on mathematics learning in diverse educational settings. Through addressing these gaps, researchers and educators can devel-op targeted interventions and strategies to enhance students’ math-ematical performance, achievement and overall learning experience.

Abstract

Environment geography has strong characteristics in combining classroom learning and in the field. Currently, machine learning development were designed to help several problem particularly in education. This study aims to evaluate the quality of Geographic Information System based machine in rural and urban school. Moreover, we also measured effect of GIS based machine learning towards learning outcome. We used quasi-experimental design to ensure the effect of GIS based machine learning media towards learning outcome. Moreover, we also used curriculum implementation index to ensure current curriculum implementation by teacher. Students were divided into 3 groups (2 experimental groups and 1 control group). The experimental group was treated by applying a guided inquiry model through GIS based machine learning media while the control group was treated by conventional models. The results show that the quality of learning by utilizing Geographic Information Systems is remain low which is indicated by low score at laboratory and media. However, in general curriculum implementation index showed moderate score 6.8, respectively. Moreover, results of quasi experiment design showed that GIS based machine learning has significant effect on students’ learning outcome which is represented by t-test score at 0.00, respectively. GIS based learning were able to enhance students’ learning outcome, meanwhile at current condition we found low index for laboratory and media aspect both in rural and urban school.

Abstract

The use of oral presentations is expected to develop students’ language skills. It helps the students to practice for improving students’ communicative competence. However, the oral presentation was challenging for EFL students. Therefore, this study attempted to investigate students' obstacles in using oral presentations during their performance. The participants of the study were twenty-one first-year students of English Education Study Program at a university in Lampung. This study used qualitative study and the data were gained by delivering a Likert scale questionnaire to the students on their perspectives towards the use of oral presentation during one semester adapted from Nouh et al. (2015). In addition to this, an interview was used to verify the data and gain further information in depth. The result showed that two main factors brought challenges for students during oral presentation, they were personal traits and presentation skills. In addition, these two common factors should be put in attention during the process of learning oral presentation. Furthermore, the conclusion of the study showed that most of the students felt anxious, nervous, and not well-prepared during oral presentations.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of mental health on the instructional approaches employed by higher education English lecturers in the Kurdish region. The primary objective of this study is to find effective techniques that may be implemented to enhance the psychological well-being of these teachers. The qualitative method was used by conducting semi-structured interviews with 5 lecturers at the National Institute of Technology in Kurdistan. The selection of these individuals was crucial in order to get critical insights and perspectives. The results indicate that there is a positive relationship between more significant levels of well-being and instructional practices, resulting in enhanced levels of participation, inspiration, and pleasure. The fundamental qualities that are emphasized are autonomy in teaching, competency, and effectiveness, as well as healthy student interactions. The study findings indicate that using several tactics, such as autonomy assistance, building skills, interaction, acknowledgment and feedback, and a healthy balance between work and life, is a means to enhance the overall well-being of higher education English lecturers. This study is based on a literature review on the topic of teacher well-being, offering valuable insights that may inform pedagogical administrators, staff members, and instructional programs in their efforts to cultivate a conducive atmosphere for professional development and the delivery of successful English language teaching.

Abstract

The low ability to think critically students results Study students who don't meet the minimum completeness criteria. This matter is caused by insufficient selection of learning models so that students have difficulty in studying. Study this aims to know the difference in ability to think critically by using the Discovery Learning model and the Problem-based learning model (case study on basics of marketing subject for class X Marketing at SMKN 1 Jember). Study this uses all overpopulation class X PM. The sample is a selection process using a purposive sampling technique. The research methods used​ are quantitative with an experimental design. The technique used for collecting capability data is critical is a test. Research results show that data analysis using the Independent Sample t-test with a level significance of 0.05 results calculations obtained​ is 0.000 < 0.05 which means there is a significant influence.​ From the results, be concluded that there is a considerable difference​ in ability to think critically between class experiments using Problem-Based Learning and classroom learning models controlled using the Discovery Learning model.

Abstract

The role that culture plays in teaching English as a global language is complicated by the language's widespread usage in a variety of international situations. Using a well-known paradigm of cultural representation in ELT textbook design by PCTB for grade 9, this study focused on a content analysis of four categories: objects, practices, viewpoints, and persons. The researcher has used qualitative research methods and content analysis as a tool for the analysis. Cultures, which are made up of a society's behavioural patterns that include details about common daily activities and rituals. The variety of foreign cultures that were depicted in these textbooks was obviously unbalanced. This is explained by the fact that the cultures of English-speaking nations are normal in comparison to other civilizations across the globe. It is believed that using English as an international language can help students become more proficient in cross-cultural communication and improve their intercultural competency.If writers of instructional materials focus more on the significance of global culture, this can be made achievable. By using content analysis method the research has evaluated the content of the textbook.
