Abstract

As a part of the Agrilab Inclusive farming programme, Pusat Rehabilitasi Yakum collaborated with the Institute for Research and Community Service, Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana in assisting the design and development of the inclusive mushroom house which is owned by the farmers under the Yakkum Difable Person Organisation in Cangkep Lor, Purworejo. The design process was conducted by utilizing the participatory design method. The enquiry phase included the determination of the most demanding capabilities in the mushroom-farming context. The problems were mainly found in accessibility. For instance, the visually impaired farmer required non-visual stimulus. In addition, motion or space adjustment was also needed by wheelchair-using farmers. The action-research method in this programme intended to develop a mushroom house with adequate, accessible pathways and an automatic misting system that eased the difficulties faced by farmers with disabilities. The results showed that the solutions increased the productivity of mushroom farming, promoted a positive experience in mushroom cultivation both for farmers with and without disabilities. The participation of mushroom farmers during the design process was the key to the sustainable mushroom house. This approach allowed the mushroom farmers to understand the inclusive design principles and to adjust the design to meet their capabilities and local sources. Therefore, they could accommodate maintenance and implement future development independently.

Abstract

As mentioned by article 1 point 1 in Regulation of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2016, mediation is an alternative resort to solve disputes through negotiation used to reach a consensus in the presence of a mediator. Mediation as an alternative dispute resolution reflects the Fourth Precept of Pancasila as the nation's character which implies resolving disputes through deliberation. Prioritizing communication is a form of deliberation carried out with the purpose of re-agreements, where there will be a possibility to improve the relationship between the parties. Resolving conflicts through mediation is an attempt to end complicated issues through a process that is time-saving and relatively cheap in providing win-win solutions. In Indonesia, the existence of mediation is based on the Regulation of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1 of 2016. Mediation has also been set as a mandatory process in the path of resolving disputes in the civil court. The method of information dissemination is carried out to create awareness regarding the new law enforced, which includes lectures and interaction. The research team in collaboration with the Maleber Village held an information dissemination activity based on the Supreme Court Regulation Number 1 of 2016 concerning Mediation. This activity would be very useful for all the parties facing conflicts as well as advisors or for third parties (mediators), such as the village apparatus, families, traditional leaders, community leaders, and other parties who are becoming completely aware of the negotiation and mediation.

Abstract

The empowerment of MSMEs is an important thing. MSMEs empowerment aims to enable MSMEs to continue, develop and create employment opportunities for the surrounding population. Empowering MSMEs includes improving management and implementing appropriate strategies so that MSMEs can continue to survive in the future. MSMEs Go Nads, which engaged in fashion making of clothes made from traditional Indonesian fabrics, face the same problems as other MSMEs. This problem is an obstacle in developing Go Nads MSMEs. Internal and external factors from MSMEs are a constraint for MSMEs' growth. Internal factors include limited competency in human resources, capital, a simple business network, and limited ability to penetrate the market. External factors include limited facilities and infrastructure, free competition, and a business climate that does not support MSME activities. Therefore, the Untar team carried out community service activities by providing training on business management and development by making the IFE-EFE matrix. Matrix Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) is a tool to formulate a strategy consisting of internal and external factors. Internal factors are strengths, weaknesses, and external factors in the form of opportunities and threats that can occur in a business venture. The internal and external data is collected to analyze, identify and evaluate the relationship between the two so that it can implement business strategies, especially for MSMEs. The IFE and EFE matrices determine the position of MSMEs and the preparation of business strategies. The results of this PKM activity are that Go Nads MSMEs are in Quadrant I in the IE matrix. The position of the 1st Quadrant in the IE (Internal External) matrix shows the Go Nads SMEs position is in the growth and development stage. The right strategy is to penetrate the market and develop the market.

Abstract

Street Vendor Tents (Pedagang Kaki Lima in Bahasa Indonesia, PKL) are an important element of informal economy activities, because it is one of the vacancies that can be found in various corners of the urban area, such as Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo street. Therefore, design for street venders’ tent is become important, because it will influence the image of the area with very active vibrant activities.. Designing street vendor’s tent is not an easy matter, because it is related to the government’s policies and also related to the technical structure. The study is co-working with PPKLY and APKLY. This partnership used community development approach, carried out by focus group discussion (FGD) because basically the street vendors understand their needs. The companion will provide an affordable design and lead the design to keep it in line with government policy. We hope the frame’s trial will develop a sustainable design which it is suitable for the PKL needs and also able to strengthen the image of the city area. Thus, the informal economic activities of street vendors can go hand in hand with the government's policies and meet the requirements of cleanliness, safety and have an aesthetic that strengthens the image of the area. And of course, this frame’s assembly must be easily understood by street vendors, because they are the ones who will use it.
