Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) allows objects to generate data and exchange data. IoT applications using microcontrollers such as Arduino do not yet have features to maintain the security of the data in them. Additionally, Arduino has limited computing capabilities. Therefore, it is necessary to apply cryptography with algorithms that have low computation on the Arduino to maintain data security. Cryptography needs to be applied to IoT applications using microcontrollers to maintain the security of data transaction processes and maintain the authenticity of the origin of data. The application of cryptography on microcontrollers must also be light and able to run on microcontrollers, especially Arduino microcontrollers. On Arduino, computing capabilities are limited but most existing security computing algorithms have high computation. Therefore, the applied cryptographic protocol must have efficient algorithms and low computational capabilities. Our research goal is to understand whether lightweight cryptographic approaches can be used to foster secure IoT by design. As a first step in our research process, we conducted a systematic literature review on lightweight cryptography to gather knowledge about the use of this technology and to document its current level. We found 5 use cases of lightweight cryptography in the literature. We also found several problems in that the algorithm execution time on the Arduino Uno was twice as long as the algorithm execution time on a PC. Changes in the value of the data length and digital signature pair affected the results of verifying the validity of the digital signature. We document and categorize current uses of lightweight cryptography, and provide several recommendations for future work to address the issues mentioned above

Abstract

College X in Dumai City always strives to continuously improve internal quality so that it can compete with other universities. One effort to improve quality is by assessing lecturer performance every year. So far, the process of selecting outstanding lecturers or favorite lecturers is still based on the subjectivity of those who choose, so there is a lack of transparency in the selection process. This research discusses the application of the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method in a decision support system for selecting favorite lecturers at College X, Dumai. Lecturer performance assessment is based on criteria such as discipline, achievement, behavior, responsibility and communication, involving students as respondents. Data was collected through literature studies, interviews, observations and Likert scale-based questionnaires. The calculation process using the SAW method includes normalization of the decision matrix and ranking based on criteria weights. The research results show that the SAW method provides objective, transparent and systematic results in selecting favorite lecturers. The system developed is able to support universities in improving the quality of lecturers through more structured feedback.

Abstract

Sugarcane leaf diseases are a serious threat in sugarcane farming because they can significantly reduce productivity and can cause major losses in yields if not detected early. Therefore, fast and accurate disease management is needed to prevent further losses. This study aims to develop a deep learning model based on MobileNetV2 with fine-tuning techniques to effectively detect sugarcane leaf diseases. Fine-tuning is a method used to adjust the parameters of a pre-trained model on a more specific target dataset. The dataset contains images of sugarcane leaves that have been classified per class based on the type of disease. In this study, fine-tuning was performed on the MobileNetV2 architecture that had been previously trained using the sugarcane leaf dataset. The fine-tuning process was carried out by rearranging the top few layers of MobileNetV2 and adding a special classification layer to predict the class of sugarcane leaf diseases. The model was trained through two stages: initial training to obtain a baseline performance and fine-tuning by opening several layers of MobileNetV2. In the initial evaluation, the model achieved a validation accuracy of 93.12%. After fine-tuning, the accuracy increased to 95.01%, indicating that this technique was able to significantly improve disease detection capabilities. The results of this study provide important contributions in the field of agriculture, especially in supporting the sustainability of sugarcane production through artificial intelligence-based technology. The implementation of the proposed model is expected to help farmers detect diseases more quickly and take timely preventive measures, thereby reducing losses.

Abstract

In the current digital era, the demand for skilled graphic designers is increasingly high. The selection process for graphic designers often requires complex evaluations with various criteria, which can lead to subjectivity in decision-making. This research aims to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) using the Operational Competitiveness Rating Analysis (OCRA) method to simplify and improve the accuracy of the graphic designer selection process. The OCRA method is chosen for its ability to handle multi-criteria decision-making problems with different weights. The development of this DSS involves identifying and evaluating five main criteria in the selection of graphic designers, namely: education, work experience, design quality, creativity and innovation, and experience working in various institutions. Each criterion has a different assessment weight according to its level of importance. This system is designed to reduce subjectivity by providing objective preference values based on OCRA calculations. This research aims to develop a DSS in the selection of graphic designers using the OCRA method. The OCRA method is chosen for its ability to address multi-criteria decision-making problems with different weights. The proposed DSS helps reduce subjectivity and increase efficiency in the selection process. The research results show that based on the application of the OCRA method, the highest result among several alternatives is achieved by Ridho Permana with a score of 3.284. The OCRA method is effective in determining the best graphic designer candidate based on preference values calculated from various available alternatives. By applying the OCRA method, it is expected that the graphic designer selection process will become more objective and structured.

Abstract

Companies are economic actors whose main function is to produce goods and services needed by the community. However, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on various economic activities, causing many workers to lose their jobs and the unavailability of new jobs, which led to an increase in unemployment in Indonesia. Therefore, strategic steps are needed to prevent an increase in the number of unemployed. One of them is to forecast the number of IBS companies for the next few years. Implementing early prevention as a step to identify new job opportunities in the industry. The forecast data is the number of IBS companies (large and medium industrial companies) collected by BPS for the period 2015-2022. The algorithm used for prediction is a backpropagation artificial neural network. This algorithm is able to remember what existed before and make generalizations from it. This backpropagation algorithm uses five architectural models including 6-10-1, 6-20-1, 6-35-1, 6-45-1, and 6-60-1. Of the five architectural models used, the best architecture was chosen, namely 6-35-1 which has an accuracy of 88%, MSE of 0.003821515 and the error rate used is 0.001-0.07. So this architectural model is good enough to predict the number of IBS companies.

Abstract

Distributors play a strategic role in the supply chain, particularly in the information technology (IT) industry, as intermediaries between IT product manufacturers and consumers. Selecting the right distributor is crucial to ensuring product quality, delivery efficiency, and reliable after-sales services. However, manual processes in distributor selection often face challenges such as subjectivity, inefficiency, and the complexity of criteria. This study developed a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) utilizing the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) and Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) methods to support systematic and objective evaluation and selection of distributors. ROC was employed to determine the weights of criteria based on priorities, while COPRAS was used to evaluate alternatives and rank them according to utility values. The case study revealed that CompNet (A5) was the best distributor with the highest utility value of 100%, followed by Mikom (A2) (94.91%), Datascrip (A1) (91%), Astrindo (A3) (83.29%), and VSTecs (A4) (82.72%). The system produced automated results consistent with manual calculations, demonstrating its accuracy and reliability. The black-box testing also confirmed that all system features functioned as specified. This research contributes to the development of a web-based DSS for IT distributor selection by integrating the ROC and COPRAS methods, which are relevant for multi-criteria decision-making and practical for corporate implementation.
