Abstract

Producing scientific work has become an obligation for students at a university since 2012. So the ability to manage scientific references, especially the use of applications in managing references is very necessary to support the writing of a scientific paper. Some applications that are specifically used to manage references are very easy to obtain, one of which is Mendeley. However, based on observations, most STKIP Hatta-Sjahrir students have not been able to use the Mendeley application. Even some of them do not know what Mendeley is. As a result, students still write references in a paper manually. Based on these problems, this training activity aims to introduce the Mendeley application and teach how to use the application. This training method is divided into three stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation/practice stage, and the evaluation stage. This activity was attended by 15 students from various study programs at STKIP Hatta-Sjahrir. The results of the evaluation showed that participants were able to use the Mendeley application and felt that writing references and the citation process had become easier.

Abstract

One of the midwifery care that can be done as a quality approach is physical exercise, such as meditation/yoga. Pregnancy yoga exercise at this time is one of the self-help solutions that support the process of pregnancy, birth and even child care that can be done in antenatal care classes. (Ministry of Health, 2010). Prenatal care yoga during pregnancy can increase birth weight and reduce the incidence of preterm and delivery complications according to Narendran (2009) from the Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation in Bangalore. In addition, a study showed that yoga and meditation can reduce psychological stress and physical injury during pregnancy and childbirth, including anxiety and pain (Amy E. B, et al, 2009). This activity aims to increase the knowledge of mothers to overcome the discomfort of the third trimester of pregnancy. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we were unable to collect mothers, so the implementation method was carried out by providing leaflets through Independent Practice Midwives (BPM) in the working area of ​​Pustu Pasir Putih. The results obtained were 33 visits by pregnant women in the third trimester, 26 people did not know and 7 people knew about prenatal care yoga and all pregnant women were given leaflets to increase knowledge about prenatal care yoga in an effort to reduce discomfort in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Abstract

The publication design is a communication medium needed by the community of Tunggalroso village, Prembun, Kebumen, Central Java. Human resources in Tunggalroso village who have graphic design skills are still limited. The purpose of the activity is to improve the ability to create publication designs for participants. The method used is a scheduled learning method including lectures, discussions, Q&A, followed by practice. The training was held in the Tunggalroso Village Hall on 20 to 24 September 2021, attended by 15 participants. The results of the training varied including the publication of activities, social events, publications for institutions, posters for celebrating holidays. The evaluation shows that the design already has the feasibility to be published in the community, because it already has design qualities such as legibility of letters, selection of adequate color contrast, dynamic composition and mastery of the field. The conclusion is that graphic design training has a significant impact on improving the skills of creating publication designs for youth Karangtaruna in Tunggalroso village.

Abstract

Maintaining health and improving health in the elderly is something that must be considered. With a healthy body condition will help the elderly body in defending itself against various diseases. The elderly due to age will experience a decline in various functions in all body systems. The elderly are a group that is susceptible to a disease, especially degenerative diseases. One of the efforts to maintain the health of the elderly can be done by conducting regular health checks at least every 6 months. The purpose of this service is to find out the health condition of the elderly at the Tresna Werda Social Home in Bengkulu City. The method used is counseling and health checks. The target of the activity is the elderly who have chronic diseases, totaling 20 people. The results of this service found that 10 elderly people suffered from hypertension, 5 people suffered from gout, 2 cataracts, 1 person suffered from COPD, and 1 person suffered from diabetes mellitus. The results of this health check are coordinated with the social care health officer to be followed up in further treatment and care. The importance of regular health checks on the elderly to find out the health problems they face and get immediate treatment to reduce the risk of further complications in the health of the elderly.

Abstract

Ears are one of the most frequently cleaned parts of the body. There are many ways to clean the ears, for example by using cotton buds, using candles and so on. The act of cleaning the ear with cotton buds is not recommended, because it can cause earwax (cerumen prop) to be pushed into the ear so that over time it will cause hearing loss (deafness). Sometimes the use of cotton buds is too deep, causing damage to the eardrum. Education in the form of counseling given to junior high school students aims to reduce the risk of ear damage from an early age due to the use of cotton buds and how to clean the ears properly. Education is held at SMP Yari School Padang. The extension method uses power points and leaflets which are distributed to school students. At the time the counseling was carried out, pretest and posttest were given to see students' knowledge of the material presented. The results of the pretest and posttest showed an increase in students knowledge about the material that had been given with p value=0,000.

Abstract

Stroke attacks occur suddenly and unpredictably, so the FAST method is very helpful in reducing the number of pain and death due to stroke. The advantage of the FAST method in early detection is that it can be done independently at various times, with the best time in the morning. Education and training in the form of counseling and workshops are given to the elderly of the Andalas Health Center, which aims to provide knowledge about stroke and train fast method skills so that the elderly can make early detection of stroke. Counseling method using power points and leaflets given to the elderly.  When the counseling was carried out, participants were immediately given practical material on the FAST method. The assessment of the scoring workshop is used to see the knowledge and improvement of the skills of the elderly on the material presented. The results of the scoring assessment were obtained by the elderly of the Andalas Health Center to get the skills of the FAST method perfectly.

Abstract

The Sumur Batu landfill uses open dumping in managing its waste, where waste was piled up in an open space and over time the volume continues to increase. Residents who live around the landfill will have positive and negative implications, waste becomes a source of problems and waste brings sustenance. Based on the data collected 60% have a job as a garbage scavenger, of which 40% have other livelihoods. The existence of the landfill results in a decrease in the quality of well water, where water is an essential need for washing rice, drinking, and bathing. The water characterization was identified as colored, and oily. This community service was carried out employing outreach techniques with a participatory approach, to find out the acceptance of residents to their well water. To obtain quantitative data, a semi-structured questionnaire was distributed which was conducted by purposive random sampling on respondents who live in the area around the Sumur Batu landfill. Optimizing the tabulation of the highest response questionnaire data obtained was R² = 0.8976. The results of the analysis identified that 66.67-93.4% of the respondents were aware that the well water used was not suitable for daily needs.

Abstract

This community service activity is planned to be held in Cot Preh Village, Kuta Baroe District, Aceh Besar. This gampong (village) is one of the gampongs located in the working area of the Lambaro Health Center, which has access to and good reception of health information. In addition, health cadres, village heads, and Cot Preh village officials fully support the health education programs provided by the community service team. This service activity is one of the preventive and promotive actions of several community health empowerment service efforts. The health empowerment activities focus on the elderly group regarding the "elderly health screening" program to provide health services to the elderly in Gampong Cot Preh. The community service team's activities include health screening (blood pressure, blood sugar, TB, and weight), followed by filling in MNA and Mini-Cog data. The purpose and outcome of this community service are to improve the health of the elderly in Gampong Cot Preh. Then, increasing public understanding of the importance of health screening for the elderly, raising elderly awareness of the importance of maintaining health, increasing knowledge and the role of families and community health center cadres in supervising the health of the elderly and achieving a healthy, independent and prosperous quality of life.

Abstract

The Cup Sealer machine, also known as a plastic cup sealing machine, is a device that seals plastic cups, preventing the contents from pouring into the glass. It also serves to keep liquids and things contained within them sanitary. This machine is frequently encountered operating on human power (manual). This study is a continuation of Community Service activities in the village of Sumbergedang Pasuruan. This machine design will be implemented in the village because the village has abundant clear/clear water that comes from Mount Penanggungan which has been processed into ready-to-drink water. The goal of this study is to create a plastic cup packaging machine that uses water from Mount Penanggungan in the village of Sumbergedang, Pasuruan, and then to improve the machine. The design uses SolidWork software with the input data being the cup sealer machine body component, the motor component for the sealing process, the cutter press component (plastic cutter when sealed), the ring component for the glass cup, and various extra components are used in the design. The results of the computation show that the design fits the requirements for moving forward with the production process.

Abstract

SMAN 9 is one of the favorite schools that has grown rapidly in the city of Padang. Based on the situation analysis conducted, it is known that in this high school there has never been any outreach to students about the negative impact of social media on their health and learning achievement. The existence of this high school which is located in Cyber Pasar Baru and Andalas University campus is certainly a threat to the health aspect and student achievement, because with this strategic location students have additional high enough access to be able to use social media such as in internet cafes ( internet cafe) without having to spend a lot of money to buy packages and this of course provides an opportunity for students to become social media addicts. For that reason, in this service program the team made SMAN 9 Padang City as a partner. The methods of activities carried out include doing pre-tests, counseling, showing videos about social media addiction disorder, discussions, doing post-tests, sharing experiences, and competitions about materials. Based on the community service activities carried out, it was found that there was an increase in the knowledge and motivation of the participants after attending the counseling. In addition, it was found that there was still a lack of attention and support from the puskesmas, schools, and families in an effort to increase their knowledge about the impact of excessive use of social media.
