Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the direct effects of the Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR), Asset Growth (AG), and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) on the Return on Assets (ROA) of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2025. It also examines the role of Return on Equity (ROE) as an intervening variable in explaining the relationship between capital structure, company growth, and profitability. The research methodology employs path analysis, with the path coefficient values indicated by the coefficients of multiple linear regression. The path coefficients for DAR, AG, DER, and ROE in relation to ROA were found to be 0.376, 0.025, -0.405, and 0.807, respectively, with a p-value of ?0.003. In contrast, the path coefficients from DAR, AG, and DER to ROE were -0.745, 0.128, and 0.574, respectively, with a p-value of ?0.060. When analyzing the influence of ROE on ROA, the Sobel Test results indicated that the p-values for the DAR, AG, and DER variables were 0.000, 0.060, and 0.000, respectively. These results suggest that ROA is significantly influenced directly by DAR, AG, DER, and ROE. Additionally, ROE is significantly affected by DAR, AG, and DER. It was also demonstrated that ROE plays a substantial mediating role in the relationship between ROA.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the ontological foundation of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan's Al-Ma'un Theology by employing Martin Heidegger's concept of Sorge (care), while formulating its implications for the direction of contemporary Islamic education. The study is motivated by the tendency of Islamic education to become ensnared in ritual formalism and mere cognitivism, thereby losing its transformative power. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical method with an existential phenomenological approach, this research finds that Al-Ma'un Theology is not merely a philanthropic doctrine, but a manifestation of "authentic existence." K.H. Ahmad Dahlan (1868-1923) positions amal (social action) as a mode of human "care" (Sorge) toward the world, which is ontologically equivalent to the human endeavor to transcend the meaningless crowd (Das Man). The fundamental implications for Islamic education encompass three aspects: the repositioning of educators as facilitators of the students' self-disclosure; a shift in curriculum orientation from textual mastery toward social praxis; and a definition of educational success measured through the active engagement of the subject in solving humanitarian problems. This research concludes that Al-Ma'un-Heideggerian-based Islamic education is a humanizing pedagogy realized through concrete action within the reality of the world

Abstract

This study was to investigate the relationships between English instructional styles, academic motivation, and academic engagement among Cambodian high school students in grade 12. A correlational design, using a cross-sectional technique, was employed by 510 students using a structured questionnaire. The data analysis employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to assess the measurement and structural model simultaneously, including a mediating study within the 5000-sample bootstrapping method. The findings showed that the measurement model has adequate reliability and validity. With the structural model revealed among instructional styles, support for academic autonomy significantly predicts academic motivation and engagement. Importantly, intrinsic motivation plays a key role in mediating between instructional styles and engagement rather than extrinsic motivation. Support for academic autonomy, followed by support for video lectures, exhibited satisfactory effects indirectly on engagement via intrinsic motivations. These findings underpin the paramount significance of fostering intrinsic motivation by generating autonomous-supportive and well-structured video-based learning climates. As such, instructors should prioritize how to promote autonomous decision-making to enhance students’ sense of competence, autonomy, and relatedness, thereby advancing a profound and more meaningful engagement in English language teaching. Further implications for this study were suggested with a more practical design.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension remains a significant health challenge in maritime communities due to unique occupational and cultural lifestyles. In the Riau Islands, the prevalence of hypertension reached 25.3% in specific coastal areas, yet control rates remain suboptimal. Objective: This study aims to analyze the factors influencing blood pressure control among hypertensive patients in a maritime setting. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted with 237 hypertensive respondents in the maritime area of Batam, Riau Islands. Data were collected using questionnaires covering demographics, knowledge, stress levels, medication adherence, and socio-cultural factors. Results: The majority of respondents were male (60.8%), aged 45–59 years (60.8%), and worked as fishermen (52.7%). Analysis showed that 74.3% of patients had uncontrolled hypertension. Significant determinants included low medication adherence (52.3%), high stress levels (62.4%), poor health knowledge (54.4%), and limited access to healthcare facilities (67.5%). Socio-cultural practices, particularly the high consumption of salted seafood and traditional beliefs, significantly hindered hypertension control (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Hypertension control in maritime populations is heavily influenced by socio-cultural habits and systemic barriers. Tailored interventions, such as the "Alviro Model," are necessary to address these specific coastal challenges.

Abstract

The article examines the impact of globalization and digitalization on the development of contemporary musical art. Rapid advances in information technologies have transformed music into a key element of the global cultural space, facilitating interaction among diverse cultures, traditions, and creative practices. The study analyzes how the Internet, streaming services, social media, and artificial intelligence have reshaped the creation, distribution, and consumption of music. Particular attention is paid to the role of digital platforms in promoting musical works, supporting artists, and influencing audience preferences through recommendation algorithms. The paper highlights the growing integration of musical styles and traditions across countries, fostering intercultural dialogue and the emergence of new artistic forms. At the same time, local cultural characteristics remain essential for preserving national identity within a globalized environment. The research also explores innovative trends, including AI-generated music, virtual concerts, and the use of music in education and therapy. While digital technologies expand creative opportunities and public access to cultural content, challenges such as copyright infringement, unequal revenue distribution, and cultural homogenization persist. The article concludes that musical art is a dynamic system shaped by technological, social, and cultural changes, requiring a balance between innovation, economic sustainability, and cultural diversity.

Abstract

National resource mobilization constitutes an integral component of Indonesia’s defense system, which adopts a total defense framework. Although doctrinal and policy frameworks have been formulated with relative consistency, the implementation of national resource mobilization remains constrained at the operational level. This article examines the gap between policy formulation and implementation by focusing on the governance mechanisms that shape national resource mobilization. Employing a qualitative approach based on policy analysis, defense strategic documents, and a review of implementation practices in non-military defense contexts, this study identifies key implementation constraints. The findings indicate that fragmented institutional authority, weak cross-sectoral coordination mechanisms, and the absence of institutionalized civil–military operational procedures significantly limit effective national resource mobilization. This article argues that the effectiveness of total defense is determined less by doctrinal completeness than by the capacity of implementation governance.

Abstract

The intensification of competition in the banking industry and the growing complexity of the business environment demand that bank branches go beyond routine operational functions to manage their resources adaptively and strategically. However, most prior research has focused on corporate-level performance, while studies at the branch level as a strategic operational unit remain comparatively limited. Moreover, the mechanisms through which cross-boundary organizational activities and internal factors are converted into branch performance through managerial capabilities have not been extensively tested empirically. This study examines the effects of Boundary Spanning Activity and Team Collaboration on Branch Performance, with Resource Orchestration as an intervening variable, at the level of banking branch offices. The study is grounded in the perspectives of dynamic capability and resource orchestration theory, which emphasize the importance of managerial capabilities in managing, integrating, and leveraging resources adaptively to achieve sustained performance advantage. A quantitative explanatory approach is employed with the branch office as the unit of analysis and Branch Managers as respondents; data were collected using a six-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using PLS-based SEM. Organizational Culture emerged as the strongest driver of Team Collaboration. Together with Boundary Spanning Activity, this collaboration enhances Resource Orchestration, which in turn directly impacts Branch Performance. The results confirm a serial mediation model: the internalization of an open work culture and effective cross-boundary activities convert internal capabilities into sustained operational and financial performance advantages at the branch level.

Abstract

This study examines how information asymmetry, financial distress, and earnings management are associated with firm value, and investigates the role of corporate governance in conditioning the market valuation of discretionary reporting behavior. The study adopts a quantitative explanatory research design using firm-level secondary data from non-financial publicly listed firms operating in manufacturing and manufacturing-related sectors in Indonesia. The final sample consists of 1,321 firm-year observations. The empirical analysis employs a path analysis approach with observed variables, enabling the simultaneous estimation of direct effects, indirect effects through earnings management, and moderating effects involving corporate governance. Model estimation is conducted using maximum likelihood techniques. The results indicate that information asymmetry and earnings management are negatively associated with firm value, while financial distress does not exhibit a significant direct effect. Earnings management does not mediate the relationships between information asymmetry or financial distress and firm value. However, corporate governance plays a significant moderating role by attenuating the negative association between earnings management and firm value. This finding suggests that the market evaluates discretionary reporting behavior conditionally, depending on governance quality. The study relies on accounting- and market-based proxies within an associative empirical framework, which limits causal interpretation. The findings nevertheless highlight the importance of incorporating governance-related conditional mechanisms when examining the economic consequences of financial reporting practices. This study contributes to the literature by positioning corporate governance as an interpretive mechanism that conditions the valuation consequences of earnings management rather than merely constraining managerial discretion. By integrating moderation and mediation structures within a unified empirical framework, the study offers a more nuanced understanding of how the market evaluates financial reporting behavior in an emerging economy context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Blue Accounting in the seaweed industry through the valuation of ecosystem and biodiversity components and the development of an Environmental Profit and Loss (EP&L) framework. This study employed a quantitative approach using the Choice Experiment (CE) method to identify seaweed farmers’ preferences regarding sustainability attributes in the industry. Data were analyzed using the Multinomial Logit (MNL) model to estimate the influence of each attribute on respondents’ choices. Subsequently, Marginal Willingness to Pay (MWTP) was calculated to determine the economic value of environmental attributes. The MWTP estimates were then used to construct a Cost-Weighted Score Matrix and integrated into the Environmental Profit and Loss (EP&L) framework. The results indicate that coastal ecosystem conditions and the reduction of ice-ice disease incidence are the most influential attributes affecting respondents’ preferences. The highest MWTP value was associated with coastal ecosystem conditions, reflecting the strong willingness of local communities to support environmental improvement programs. The Cost-Weighted Score Matrix identified coastal ecosystem quality and disease control as the highest-priority factors for Blue Accounting implementation. Furthermore, the EP&L analysis demonstrated that incorporating environmental costs and ecosystem service values provides a more comprehensive assessment of business performance compared to conventional accounting approaches. Blue Accounting integrate economic and environmental values into the management of the seaweed industry. The application of Choice Experiment, MWTP, Cost-Weighted Score Matrix, and Environmental Profit and Loss provides a more comprehensive basis for supporting transparent, accountable, and sustainable decision-making in the seaweed industry of Rote Ndao Regency.

Abstract

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has rapidly entered higher education and changed how students access information, complete academic tasks, and engage with learning. However, GenAI adoption cannot be understood only as individual technology use because it is also shaped by literacy, academic integrity, institutional rules, and pedagogical context. This study analyzes GenAI adoption in Indonesian higher education through a sociotechnical perspective. The study used a descriptive-analytical design based on an Indonesian higher education subset extracted from a public global survey dataset on students’ early perceptions of ChatGPT. After institutional-location filtering, the final analytical subset consisted of 270 respondents affiliated with higher education institutions located in Indonesia. The analysis focused on GenAI adoption, technology acceptance, digital and AI literacy, student engagement, academic integrity, and institutional support. The findings show that students demonstrated more favorable satisfaction and attitude scores than usage-frequency scores, indicating that positive perceptions of ChatGPT did not automatically translate into intensive academic use. The study also found that digital and AI literacy is a key condition for responsible GenAI adoption because students need to evaluate AI-generated outputs, recognize limitations, verify information, and apply ethical judgment. Study-related outcome blocks showed moderate-to-positive tendencies, suggesting that ChatGPT may support learning, although its contribution to engagement remains developing. Regulation and ethical concern blocks also showed moderate awareness but continuing uncertainty regarding acceptable use. The study concludes that responsible GenAI adoption in Indonesian higher education requires balanced institutional guidance, AI literacy development, assessment redesign, and clear academic integrity policies.
