Abstract

This research aims are to describe the teacher in using personal letter as media in teaching writing of recount textand tofind out the teacher’s problems in teaching writing of recount text by using personal letter as media in the tenth grade of MAN Jung Cangcang Pamekasan. Then, the object of this research obtain from the students of the tenth grade atMAN Jung Cangcang Pamekasan. There are 35 that consist 9 boys and 26 girls students. In gathering the data, the reseacher used observation process, interview, and documentation at the tenth grade of MAN Jung Cangcang Pamekasan. The research design of this study is descriptive qualitative. The result of this research, there are how the teacher in using personal letter and the problems the teacher in using personal letter as media in the tenth grade at MAN Jung Cangcang Pamekasan. In using personal letter of teaching writing recount text, there are some steps such as: pre-activity, whilst activity, and post activity. Then, the problems that was faced by the teacher in usingpersonal letter as media in teaching writing recount text are the first,the teachers’ problems in teaching writing recount text is difficult to get attention for students in teaching process by using personal letter media, the second problem, the teacher felt difficult to make the students activein the class because the students less of vocabularies, and the third problem, the teacher felt that the goal of the teaching process by using personal letter as media is not running well.

Abstract

Covid-19 makes learning activities must be carried out online in order to break the chain of the spread of covid-19. This study aims to find out what obstacles and effects students face during their online learning using qualitative research methods. The subjects of this study were students of the 7th semester of English education study program totalling 6 people using questionnaires and interview data collection techniques. To collect research results on the questionnaire using tables and for interviews using analytical techniques. The results of the research on the questionnaire were 40% of students answered that they had problems with the network and 60% experienced problems with the lecturer's explanation. on the effect of online learning students answered that they experienced the effect that they were more lazy since joining online learning, the next effect their scores increased during online learning. This shows that during online learning they have obstacles and effects that they face during online learning and it is recommended for lecturers to pay more attention to students who have difficulty in capturing material during online learning so that they are more enthusiastic about participating in online learning.

Abstract

The dialogue is good way to get students practice saying target language. It also helps the students become more active to talk each other in teaching learning process. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research. The participant of the study were the English teacher and the students of SMP Tahfidz Pamekasan that consisted of 16 students. In collecting the data, the researcher uses observation, and interview. From the result of observation and interview, this research showed the implementation of dialogue technique. The teacher implement the dialogue with presentation of brief dialogue or several mini dialogue, oral practice of each utterances in the dialogue, question and answer based on the dialogue topic and situation in the dialogue, and evaluation of learning. The response with the highest percentage is interested that is 43,75 % with the seven participants. The second place is 31,25 % of the respondents or five participants which expressed hesitation, and 25% of respondents or four students who did not interested to the dialogue technique.

Abstract

There are many kinds of literary work such as novel, poem, film, etc. Sometimes in the work there is a usage of many languages because of the idea and the creativity of the creators to make their project different from others’. For example, Bumi Manusia film which the characters have different ethnic or racial background so there is many different languages used. This makes code switching and code mixing happened. This study aims to find the use of code switching and code mixing in the film Bumi Manusia, then determine each type based on the selected reference, then determine the reasons for using code switching and code mixing in the film.This research was conducted by watching movies repeatedly, recording dialogues or conversations which are code switching and code mixing, determining the data for each type (whether including code switching or code mixing), after that determining the types and finally analyzing the causes of its use. The results show that the use of code-switching in the film Bumi Manusia is more than the use of code-mixing. And the reason for using code switching and code mixing the most widely used is because of solidarity and to soften or strengthen requests or command.

Abstract

“Think-Talk-Write (TTW)” Strategy is a cooperative learning mode to make teaching and learning process easier. This research used the qualitative research. The target population, in this study, was the English teacher and the Eighth grade students of MTs al-Azhar Toket Proppo Pamekasan the members of population is 20 students. Data were obtained firstly from the observation sheet. , the writer also collected the data by interviewing the English teacher of the Eighth Grade. In analyzing the data, the researcher used descriptive qualitative Strategy in order to make it easier for the readers to get the description about theuse of “Think Talk Write Model” and its strengths and weaknesses.The writer analyzed the data in three basic and simple steps. Some strengths teaching writing using TTW model such as: It makes students to be independent, it makes students to be cooperative, to build a good teamwork. So, they help each other, it makes students think smarter, speak fluent and write systematically. Meanwhile the weaknesses are, When students work in ground, some of them are easy to lose their own skill and confident because they are dominated by others

Abstract

Politeness is a way to convey expressions smoothly, nicely and politely in verbal communication. Politeness is also required to be carried out in official forums such as the learning and teaching process in the classroom. In this case, the researcher is interested and raises the title of violation from the maxim of politeness in language teaching and learning interactions in the seventh semester students. The purpose of this study is to describe objectively the politeness maxims violated by teacher or students in the class interaction. This research is a qualitative research and the source of data in this study is in the form of conversations between students and teachers that have been copied or converted into written form. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the deviation of politeness maxims in teaching and learning interactions occurs in all politeness maxims, namely the maxim of wisdom, maxim of generosity, maxim of praise, maxim of humility, maxim of agreement, and maxim of sympathy. The maxim that most violated appear in wisdom maxim, generosity maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim with three violation of each. While the violation that occurs the least is the maxim of humility which only appears once. Abstract

Corona virus has ruin all factors of life in the world. The most fact is in the education life. The students are suffer by the non-active school activity for some while. The teacher are suffer from the difficulties to bring the material to the students. The government has offer a lot of solutions. But some countries with some background of economic and geographical factors may suffer some problems. Here, the magic of a teacher, he has the authority to give the solving toward these problems. On these article the author offers three solution method of teaching and learning over the pandemic. The learning that the author offer is Blended learning, Mobile learning and STEAM learning. Abstract

English is very important for communication. People can express their ideas to communicate. Communication speaks with others. It means that language should be learned by people around the world. Reading is one of the daily activities in human life. Teaching reading English can improve the other skills especially for listening, writing, and speaking. The purpose of reading is to help the reader comprehend the text. In addition, reading gives someone for information and for pleasure. This study is aimed at finding is the effectiveness of using Reciprocal Teaching in teaching descriptive text at the second grade English Department of Madura University in the academic year of 2020/2021. Reciprocal Teaching has four techniques. They are predicting, questioning, clarifying, And summarizing. The researcher used quantitative research, one group pre-test post-test . The population of this research is all students of the English department Of Madura University. The sample was one class; the Second grade of the English department. To analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS V.16. This research was conducted by giving a pre-test, applying an experiment using reciprocal teaching, and giving a post-test. The data were analyzed using the t-test formula to determine the effectiveness of using reciprocal teaching. The results showed that the average value of the pre-test was 47.4 then after being given the reciprocal teaching technique, the students were given a post-test with an average score of 89.9. The value of the Normality test using the reciprocal teaching technique is 0.795 > 0.05 (Asymp. Sig. (2tailed)). Then, for the significant homogeneity test 0.205 > 0.05 (Asymp. Sig. (2tailed)). Then, for the Hypothesis Test value of (0.000) < 0.005 (Asymp. Sig. (2tailed)) So there is a significant difference between learning descriptive text not using reciprocal teaching technique and descriptive text learning using a reciprocal teaching technique.

Abstract

The teacher has an important role in the teaching and learning process, besides that the teacher also has responsibility for children's development starting from morals, principles, creativity and children's motor actions. The author has conducted research on 50 respondents or 50 students who are in high school in Az Zubair, Pamekasan. Of the 50 respondents, the researcher can determine the number of likerts according to the research title that the researcher took. Of the 50 respondents the researcher concluded that as many as 31% of students liked and accepted English using the storytelling method.

Abstract

Speaking is complex skilll that express the ideas,opinions,desires,our fellings freely,structured and spontaneously that aim give or get information and knowledge from other people.The speaking process base on experiences that can be obtained through discusiion,reading,obsrvation, and listening.All the students want to speak English fluently, therefore students must learn to boosting their speaking skills. Talking about Speaking boosting, the boosting is divided into several aspects ranging from boosting pronounciation,comprehension, grammar, and vocabbulary. It can be used as a measurement our speaking is good or not..almost all students have method to boosting English speaking skill namely Online game. The studennts was familiar with gadgets rarely have online games, not only one but more online games on one gadget.This researcher have research the student of english department in academic year 2017-2020 with using interview method. The result of the study is can boosting speaking skill but not efeective to be Media learning in English program students Madura University.
