Abstract

The low student learning outcomes in mathematics can be caused by the use of learning methods that are not in accordance with the material to be delivered, so that students do not play an active role in learning activities that affect student learning outcomes. Research with the Brainstorming learning method at MTs Nurul Jannah aims to determine whether there is an influence of the Brainstorming learning method on student learning outcomes on the subject of Two Variable Linear Equation Systems in class VIII MTs Nurul Jannah Palengaan Pamekasan. This research is a quantitative research with an experimental type of research. Based on the data obtained in the form of student learning outcomes after data analysis using the t-test was obtained, the average for the experimental class was 77,1 higher than the control class, namely 68,05 using a two-party test with a significant level of 5% and interval 95% confidence is 2,571 ≥ 2,022 (

Abstract

Covid-19 makes learning activities must be carried out online in order to break the chain of the spread of covid-19. This study aims to find out what obstacles and effects students face during their online learning using qualitative research methods. The subjects of this study were students of the 7th semester of English education study program totalling 6 people using questionnaires and interview data collection techniques. To collect research results on the questionnaire using tables and for interviews using analytical techniques. The results of the research on the questionnaire were 40% of students answered that they had problems with the network and 60% experienced problems with the lecturer's explanation. on the effect of online learning students answered that they experienced the effect that they were more lazy since joining online learning, the next effect their scores increased during online learning. This shows that during online learning they have obstacles and effects that they face during online learning and it is recommended for lecturers to pay more attention to students who have difficulty in capturing material during online learning so that they are more enthusiastic about participating in online learning.

Abstract

There are many kinds of literary work such as novel, poem, film, etc. Sometimes in the work there is a usage of many languages because of the idea and the creativity of the creators to make their project different from others’. For example, Bumi Manusia film which the characters have different ethnic or racial background so there is many different languages used. This makes code switching and code mixing happened. This study aims to find the use of code switching and code mixing in the film Bumi Manusia, then determine each type based on the selected reference, then determine the reasons for using code switching and code mixing in the film.This research was conducted by watching movies repeatedly, recording dialogues or conversations which are code switching and code mixing, determining the data for each type (whether including code switching or code mixing), after that determining the types and finally analyzing the causes of its use. The results show that the use of code-switching in the film Bumi Manusia is more than the use of code-mixing. And the reason for using code switching and code mixing the most widely used is because of solidarity and to soften or strengthen requests or command.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to improve the students’ reading skill of the Tenth grade of SMAN 4 Bangkalan by using comic strips in webtoon application. This research is collaborative classroom action research. It aimed to discover and put into action various reading skills improving measures. The research procedure was an action research that consisted of four key phases: planning, implementing/ acting, observing, and reflecting. The researcher and teacher collaboratively recognized certain obstacles andweaknesses of the reading learning process, identified some problems, and planned and carried out the proposed actions. The result of the cycle shows that the implementation of comic strip improves the students’ reading skill, especially understanding the content of the text, vocabulary mastery, and motivation to read by providing the students kinds of reading activities. The success indicator of the implementation were that (1) the students were able to understand the content of the English text, by finding the main idea and specific information, (2) the students were more enthusiastic in doing reading activities, and (3) the students vocabulary mastery was improved. Furthermore, the findings were also supported by the means of the students’ reading score which improved from 62 in preliminary test to 76 in cycle test.

Abstract

English learning has been given in formal education, but the methods used are usually less interesting and make some children bored and have difficulty understanding the material presented. Therefore, the implementation of the traditional tanduk majeng song as media in improving English skills at PAUD. Badruz Zaman is expected to make it easy for children to learn English and make learning English fun with interesting method. This activity is carried out for Pre-Primary School so that they have English language skills in vocabulary, language structure, listening and reading. In addition, this activity is also expected to create children who will be ready to compete in the world of education with English language skills.

Abstract

From the experience of the researchers while teaching the English Mathematics course, it was found that the main obstacle faced by students in communicating in English lies in their minimal vocabulary of English mathematical concepts. Departing from this fact, this study has two objectives, namely to find out how students respond to the application of the mnemonic method in English mathematics courses and the second is to find out students' speaking abilities, especially in remembering new vocabulary obtained from the learned mathematical concepts. Based on research data both in the form of written tests and interviews, it can be concluded that overall it is of good value. Student responses to the application of the mnemonic method in Mathematics English courses on the topic of Statistics and Opportunity are positive. Meanwhile, the students' English speaking ability in the application of the mnemonic method on the topic of Statistics and Opportunity includes 5 aspects as follows: for grammar mastery, a score of 20% of students obtained 3 points or very good category was obtained, for the vocabulary aspect, a score of 64% was obtained, which received a very good score. good, 48% who scored very well also in the comprehension mastery aspect. As for the fluency and pronunciation aspects, 40% were in the good category and 48% were in the very good category, respectively.

Abstract

The research aimed at improving the listening skill of The Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 4 Bangkalan by using “Smile Squad videos” as learning media. It aimed to find and implement some actions to improve the listening skills. The research method was collaborative classroom action research, which was a dynamic and complementary process that included four important steps: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The researcher and teacher collaborated together to identify hurdles and weaknesses in the listening learning process, identify certain issues, and plan and implement the proposed measures. The first cycle's findings showed that students' listening skills increased as a result of extensive listening exercise. It was also discovered that watching the “Smile Squads videos” more frequently can help them improve their English. Students steadily improve their ability to detect more spoken English words, distinguish the similar pronunced words and find information from a conversation. The indicators of the success of the implementation were: (1) the students were more enthusiastic in doing listening activities; and (2) the students’ listening skill was improved. Furthermore, the findings were also supported by the means of the students’ listening score which improved from 58 in the preliminary study test to 80 in the cycle test.

Abstract

This study was conducted at SMP Plus Al Madaniyah. The participants of this study were seventh grade students of SMP Plus Al Madaniyah..The data were obtained through classroom observation and interview. It was found that through the activity, the students not only using the language, but also reading the language and speaking with the language.The last, the final observation. It was found that the students were able to rewrite the news with their own words.The last, the final observation. It was found that the students were able to rewrite the news with their own words. The lessons observed were reading lessons. The result of interview found some benefits from the use of online newspaper in teaching reading. The benefits attained the development of students’ reading ability, fun learning’s atmosphere and the increasing of students’ reading interest.

Abstract

Writing is one of English skill. Writing is the most difficult skill to be mastered. The using of short story as media make the students easier to be the best writer. The researcher research the English teacher at IPB in using short story as media in teaching narrative writing skill. The purpose of this research are to know how the english teacher use short story as the media in teaching writing at third level of Institut Prima Bhakti (IPB) Pamekasan, second to know the students obtacle in using story as the media in teaching writing at third level of Institut Prima Bhakti (IPB) Pamekasan, and the third is to know the students responses the use of short story as media in teaching writing at third level of Institut Prima Bhakti (IPB) Pamekasan. The method used in this research was qualitative research. It was held on 20 June until 25 July 2016. In this class there were 12 students, 10 boys and 2 girls. The researcher used get the data are observation, interview, and documentation. The use of short story as media at IPB pamekasan is based by Ghasemy procedure there four steps in using short story in teaching narrative the first is pre-activities where students required to identify the new vocabulary a ttext of short story in group work, then discussed it in class. Second activities is comprehension work the teacher can help students prepare questions which can ultimately lead to the overall understanding of the text and explain narrative text. After that is Textual analysis and group work here the teacher started to ask the students to rewrite the story of the short story that their alredy disscussed. And the last is post-assignment or further task, the teacher asked the students to compose narrative text
