Abstract

With the rapid development of information technology, it has a very important role in various fields. The purpose of this thesis research is to produce the development of a systematic and structured data collection, sales, purchasing system at Willy's Pharmacy, where the previous system still used a manual system with using books, so the author can use local hosting-based information systems as data storage media. The results of the system are made to facilitate the sales and purchase process. The author's purpose in making this research is to make it easier for Willy Farma pharmacies to check, record sales, report sales, purchase reports on drugs. In addition, by using local web hosting, data information can be accessed at any time. The information system is in the form of Local hosting with the Xampp.

Abstract

The 5S work culture is a work method created by Japan that implements the regulation and structuring of the work environment. One of the objectives of this study is to find out the design of 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seisou, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke) in PT. Andalas Citra Elektrindo to observe the problems of working conditions so as to increase work efficiency and comfort. This study uses a descriptive research approach. The object of the research is on the production floor of PT. Andalas Citra Elektrindo which has not implemented 5S. The data collection technique was carried out using observation/observation techniques. Data obtained from direct observation on the production floor. The instrument used is to use a checklist instrument. The results of this research are the design of 5S work culture and the layout of the responsibility map of each department using Microsoft Visio 2016 software and the creation of 5S procedure forms.

Abstract

Production scheduling in the industrial world has an important role as a form of decision making. The company strives to have the most effective and efficient scheduling so as to increase the productivity produced by saving production completion time to a minimum. The problem is the company has not implemented a scheduling of production machines by using a certain scheduling method that suits the situation and condition of these machines. This study aims to determine the level of utility in the digester machine at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV PKS Gunung Bayu and scheduling work assignments on a digester machine using the indicator method can minimize production completion time. The method used is the indicator method. This method minimizes turnaround time by prioritizing machines with large capacity while still showing engine efficiency and predetermined turnaround time. The results of scheduling analysis using the indicator method produces an optimal schedule, with 14,784 hours available only 12,162 working hours of the digester machine, the difference in hours is 2,622 hours. The average utility of four digester machines is 82.26% and the average machine utility per month of the four digester machines reaches an average of 82.39%, so the average utilization of this digester machine is optimal (high).

Abstract

In this context, there is a need for the development of a translator application that can translate between Indonesian and Nias languages. The aim of this research is to design and build an Android-based translator application that can translate text from Indonesian to Nias and vice versa.In this study, the Levenshtein Distance algorithm was used as a method to perform the translation process. This algorithm uses the calculation of the distance between two strings to identify the similarities and differences between words in Indonesian and Nias. Thus, the Levenshtein Distance can be used to produce accurate and relevant translation results.The design and development of the translator app was done using the Android platform as the development base. The application is designed to provide an intuitive and easy-to-use user interface, thus allowing users to quickly and efficiently translate texts into Indonesian and Nias languages. During the development process, the translator application was tested to ensure good quality and performance. The test results showed that the translation application was capable of producing accurate translations in accordance with the context of the Indonesian language and the Nias language. In conclusion, the research successfully designed and built an Android-based Indonesian-Nias language translator application using the Levenshtein Distance algorithm. This application is expected to be a useful tool in facilitating communication between Indonesian-speaking users and the Nias language. This research also contributed to the development of Nias-based translator applications that were still limited in previous literature.

Abstract

University of Medan Area (UMA) is one of the universities having an E-learning website for facilitating the teaching and learning process between students and lecturers that can be done remotely and connected via the internet. The features  on  the  UMA  E-Learning  website  are  pretty  complete,  but  still,  the  operation  of  some  features  is  quite complicated  and  time-consuming,  so  some  UMA  students  found  it  hard  to  use  UMA  E-Learning.  The  University  of Medan Area E-Learning website needed to be tested for usability with Elements of Effectiveness and Efficiency. This study aimed to know the usability test results on the University of Medan Area E-Learning website and to know how the proposed improvements to the University of Medan Area E-Learning website. This research used the Eye Tracking method. Eye Tracking is a technique that allowed academics or researchers to analyze visual attention by detecting where users are looking, how long they are looking and the order in which they are looking. This test was carried out by giving several tasks to be done by the respondents, to find out the success and time of the respondents' work. The results in this study was based on the calculation of the effectiveness level in Task 1 obtained a percentage of 88.57%, Task 2 obtained 41.63%, and Task 3 obtained 48.57%. Based on the calculation of the efficiency level, it obtained TBE Task  1  =  0.038  goals/sec.  TBE  Task  2  =  0.024  goals/sec,  TBE  Task  3  =  0.031  goals/sec  and  obtained  ORE  Task  1  = 85.99%, ORE Task 2 = 29.83%, ORE Task 3 = 34.44%.

Abstract

The old machine condition can give losses in the company, where the machines can not work optimally which commonly causes the defective product as much as 12%. The defect percentage has been over the tolerance limit of the company, which is only 6-9%. This study aims to analyze the worst defect level by finding out the highest damage value of the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The analysis of the failure mode occurred was conducted through Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) Method by concerning to the defect level of the high value of Occurrence, Severity, and Detection that generated the highest damage value. The highest analysis value based on this method was the RPN value that exceeded the critical value which was 100 RPN. Then to solve the problem, the analysis results utilized the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method to find out the cause of the failure mode. After that, the Fishbone diagram method was used to determine the cause and effect (Cause-Effect) that cause product defects to occur. Furthermore, the results showed that the value had exceeded the critical number, where 180 RPN were obtained in crack mode and 240 RPN in asymmetric diameter mode. Then the highest critical value was obtained in the crack mode and asymmetrical diameter as the biggest factor of the product defects occurred. Therefore the results of this study are expected to reduce the  high  level of  product defects occur, by evaluating and re-concerning the production  process periodically on noticing the two biggest factors that greatly affect the occurrence of product defects in the company

Abstract

Handwritten digit recognition is a process of recognizing and identifying numbers using artificial intelligence algorithms such as Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The application of handwritten number recognition can be developed and used in identifying postal code numbers on letters, identifying nominal amounts on bank checks and others. However, before carrying out the application, model training is needed on the algorithm that will be used so that number recognition is accurate because the problem faced in recognizing handwritten numbers is that images or written data are diverse and difficult to identify. In this study, the CNN algorithm was used with the SquuezeNet architecture with the MNIST (Modified National Institute of Standards and Technology) dataset which is divided into 60,000 training data and 10,000 test data. The platform used to carry out the training and testing process is Google Colab. Training was carried out 12 times using hyperparameters such as Optimizer namely Adam, SGD, and RMSprop, Learning rate namely 0.1, 0.01, 0.001, 0.0001 and Batch Size 64. Based on the research results from 12 trained models, 1 model was obtained with the best results on the Optimizer namely Adam, Learning rate namely 0.0001 and Batch Size 64 resulting in an accuracy of 99.11%.

Abstract

The prevention of misuse of data by other parties requires a good data security system. Cryptography is a means of securing data with a view to maintaining confidentiality of information contained in the data, so that information cannot be known to unauthorized parties. RC6 is a cryptographic block cipher algorithm that can be used to secure data or files from irresponsible parties. This study found that the data secured using the RC6 algorithm was quite good and required a long time for some parties to get the plain text.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the sentiment of visitor comments on the Tjong A Fie Mansion tourist attraction in Medan City using the Naïve Bayes Classifier method. A total of 100 comments were manually collected from Google Maps and underwent preprocessing stages, including case folding, tokenization, stopword removal, and stemming. Feature extraction was then performed using the TF-IDF method, followed by classification using the Multinomial Naïve Bayes algorithm. Model performance was evaluated using a confusion matrix. The test results showed that a data split of 80% for training and 20% for testing yielded the highest accuracy, reaching 80%, with a sentiment classification result of 100% positive. These findings indicate that the Naïve Bayes method can effectively and efficiently classify text-based comments. The sentiment analysis results are expected to provide input for tourism managers to improve service quality and serve as a reference for the development of user opinion-based decision support systems.

Abstract

The rapid growth of online platforms has enabled users to share their experiences about various products and services, including hotels. Hotel reviews are crucial in understanding customer perceptions and preferences in the tourism sector. Tiket.com, a web and mobile-based online travel agent, allows users to book hotels and submit reviews, which can be positive, negative, or neutral. These reviews provide valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of hotel services and can serve as evaluation material for improvements. This study extracts meaningful information from user reviews through an aspect-based sentiment analysis approach. It categorizes sentiments into specific aspects such as price, cleanliness, service, location, and facilities, ensuring the feedback is more structured and actionable. The research utilizes a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) model combined with fastText word embedding to analyze sentiment. A dataset of 6512 hotel reviews was collected through web scraping. The resulting model achieved an accuracy of 91%, evaluated using a confusion matrix. The approach enhances understanding of customer satisfaction by presenting sentiments based on targeted service aspects, making the analysis more concise and relevant for hotel management.
