Abstract

This article examines the use of dysphemism in swear words in the translation of Yusuf Idris's short story “Thobaliyyah Min As-Sama'” into Herpin Nopiandi Khurosan's short story “Tray from Heaven”. Dysfeminism refers to the use of language that is designed to emphasize negative connotations and make a statement sound worse or harsher.  This study aims to determine the form of swear word dysphemism in the Arabic-Indonesian translation of the short story “Thobaliyyah Min As-Sama'”, knowing the function of swear word dysphemism in the Arabic-Indonesian translation of the short story “Thobaliyyah Min As-Sama”.  The theory used in this research is Allan and Burridge's theory of dysphemism.  The method of this research is descriptive qualitative, with 2 data collection techniques, namely reading the entire contents of the short story and recording the data in accordance with the theory. Then the data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman method, namely by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and conclusions. The results of this study show that there are some data that show the existence of dysphemism in swear words. Among them have functions, namely, to vent the speaker's emotions, to joke, to demean the listener, and to swear.  This research makes an important contribution to the understanding of how dysphemisms are translated and how shifts in language can affect the meaning and emotional impact of literary texts. For future research, it is hoped that other researchers can explore the comparison of dysphemisms in various literary genres or in the context of translation between different languages.

Abstract

Teaching materials are crucial in the learning process, especially in Arabic language acquisition. "Al-'Arabiyyah Lil Hayah" serves as a reference guide for new students enrolled in the Special Program for Arabic Language Development (PKPBA) at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, providing a structured approach to enhance Arabic language skills across various academic disciplines. This study analyzes the book through the lens of the theory of different levels of teaching materials proposed by Brian Tomlinson and Hitomi Masuhara. Utilizing a literature study with a qualitative approach, data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which includes data condensation, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the four volumes of "Al-'Arabiyyah Lil Hayah" largely align with the recommendations of Tomlinson and Masuhara at basic, intermediate, and high levels. However, certain gaps remain, notably the absence of a comprehensive comprehension approach in Volume 1 and a deficiency in extensive reading and listening activities in Volumes 2 and 3. Additionally, Volume 4 lacks real-world professional language use materials, such as newspapers and research reports, which are essential for high-level learners. These shortcomings highlight a disconnect between the theoretical framework and the practical needs of students. Consequently, this research underscores the need for future studies to conduct a more thorough analysis of the suitability of the content, learning activities, and instructional approaches utilized in "Al-'Arabiyyah Lil Hayah," ensuring they effectively address the specific needs and characteristics of students at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.

Abstract

The Yanbu'a method is a method of memorizing the Qur'an that pays attention to aspects of clarity and fluency. To support Qur'an memorization activities, Madrasah Tahfidz Putri Anak in Yogyakarta teaches the Yanbu'a method in its educational activities. The background of this study is because there are still Arabic pronunciation errors that are not good in reading skills, so there needs to be an appropriate strategy in improving the quality of reading the Qur'an. The purpose of this study is to try to find the relationship between the quality of Qur'anic recitation in the Yanbu'a method and the quality of students' ability to read and pronounce fluent Arabic texts with a fluent tongue expressively. The educational implications of the Yanbu'a method are interesting to study its impact on the quality of reading aloud which is not limited to reading and understanding by heart, but includes abilities such as expressing it with the correct tongue. This research is all the more interesting because almost all literature that discusses the Yanbu'a method relates it to fluency in reading the Qur'an. However, in this study, the researchers tried to relate it to a different aspect, namely the ability to read aloud Arabic texts other than the Qur'an. This research uses descriptive qualitative method by collecting data through observation, interview, and documentation. The data sources in this study are the Qur'an and a collection of school supervisors. Future researchers can develop this article by discussing how the implementation of the Yanbu'a method in improving the quality of maharah qira'ah jahriyyah outside of reading the Qur'an.

Abstract

Sharf is a crucial branch of Arabic grammar, essential for understanding the structure, forms, and changes of words in Arabic language. Therefore, mastering Sharf required accurate and comprehensive understanding. However, some 2nd grade students find Sharf to be a difficult subject which can negatively impact their learning outcomes. Hence, there is a need for effective learning media that can enhance students’ understanding of Sharf. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Animaker-based animated media in improving Sharf learning outcomes of 2nd-grade students at KMI in Gontor Putri 1. This research employs a quantitative method with an experimental approach, utilizing a True Experiment design in the form of a Post-Test Only Control Group. The research subjects were 42 students in the 2nd grade at KMI Gontor Putri 1. The data collection techniques used were interviews, tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this research involved descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests, and differences tests using the U-test (Mann-Whitney). The collected data was then analyzed using SPSS software. The findings indicate that Animaker media effectively improves learning outcomes in the Sharf subject. This is evidenced by a significance value (2-tailed sig) of 0.004 from the Mann-Whitney U-test, which is less than 0.05. Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. These, results confirm that Animaker animated media significantly enhances students’ understanding of Sharf. This study contributes to Arabic language studies by introducing an innovative and engaging learning medium that enhances students understanding of Sharf. This research contributes to Arabic language education by introducing an innovative and engaging learning medium tailored to modern educational needs. Future studies could expand the application of Animaker-based animated media to other branches of Arabic studies, evaluate its long-term impact on learning outcomes, and explore its effectiveness in diverse educational settings. Researchers might also investigate the integration of such media with other technological tools to create a more comprehensive learning experience.

Abstract

Arabic language learning has a strategic role in shaping students linguistic competence, especially in the context of Islamic education. Along with the development of globalization era and demands of modern education, the conventional approach in learning Arabic is often considered less relevant. In response to this issue, Rusydi Ahmad Thu'aimah an expert in Arabic language education, offers learning strategies that are adaptive, innovative, and in accordance with the principles of modern education. This study aims to analyze the relevance of Thu'aimah's ideas to modern educational strategies through descriptive-analytical literature study method. The main findings show that Thu'aimah's focus on student-centered and communicative learning is in line with modern approaches, which encourage a more interactive and practical language learning environment. Moreover, his emphasis on the use of technology and media in language teaching is increasingly relevant in this digital era. This paper provides an insight into how educators can integrate traditional principles of Arabic language teaching with contemporary methods to enhance the language learning process. The approach offered by Thu'aimah can be the basis for updating Arabic language learning strategies to be more effective in accordance with the demands of the times. This research can be a reference for future in-depth research. However, this study is limited by its lack of empirical evidence and practical application in its discussion. Abstract

Arabic language learning in grades 10 and 12 still uses conventional methods which apparently have an impact on the lack of vocabulary mastery, seen from the arabic language scores that are below average. This is reflected in the arabic exam scores which are below average. The purpose of this study is to encourage student activeness and improve vocabulary learning outcomes. This research uses experimental method by comparing 2 learning models, namely conventional learning model and cooperative learning model. Conventional learning models tend to be passive and focus on lectures. Cooperative learning, on the other hand, involves collaborative and interactive activities. This model proves that conventional learning produces below-average scores, and cooperative learning of answer play type produces higher scores and has a significant positive impact on the mastery of Arabic mufrodat. It is proven from the pretest and posttest results of 7 to 18, this proves that cooperative learning is an effective alternative compared to the conventional method. Further research can explore how the same cooperative learning model can be applied to other language skills, this will help to see if this model is also effective in improving overall Arabic language skills.
