Abstract

This research was conducted in the village of Sarakaman, District of Sebuku Island, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan. There are two mining industry corporations in Sebuku Island. They are PT Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku (PT BCS) and PT Sebuku Iron Lateritic Ores (PT SILO). PT BCS was established since 1997 and PT SILO was established 2004. In 2010 PT BCS and PT SILO expand the exploitation area in Sarakaman. Sarakaman community was the subject of this research. The purpose of this research were: (1) To analyze the process of mining industrialization in Sebuku Island and (2) To analyze the dynamics of the community poverty as the impact of mining industrialization in Sebuku Island. The data were collected through participant observation, indepth interviews, focus group discussions, the study of literature/documents and participation in community activities. This research concluded: (1) permits of mining industry corporations given by local government without local communities agreement, (2) compensation of land acquisition and residential communities conducted by mining industry corporations was fairly large, but not comparable to the community socio-economic sustainability, (3) Acquisition of land and residential communities by mining industry corporations reduce the accessibility of resources agrarian society, (4) in limited of agrarian resource access, the community survive with their livelihood strategies, (5) environmental damage as the effect of the mining industry activities make difficult the activity and subsistence of communities. Abstract

One of the extractive petroleum industries that are currently present in Indonesia is the PCI Industry which cooperates with Pertamina. PCI Industry is located in Bojonegoro, East Java and established in 2002. Ever since the presence of the extractive petroleum industry, conflict with society is started to begin. The method used in this study was a quantitative method that was supported by quantitative data. Qualitative data were obtained by observations and in-depth interviews. Quantitatif data using questionnaires were obtained from two  villages  with  100  respondents.  Respondents  were  divided  into  two  geoups:  responden  who  did  non participate in the protest and respondents who participated in the protest.This study aims to analyze the root problem of public protest occurence towards the PCI Industry, analyze the presence of PCI Industry that raises a certain protest behavior of society and analyze the effect of local leaders power on the dynamics and behavior of the society protest. The result showed that the  root problem of public protes occurence towards the PCI Industry  is an opportunities to work in the PCI Industry, CSR funds, environmental demanding.  The protest behavior of local people due to the presence of the PCI Industry is in accordance with the theory of planned behavior which mentions that attitude is not enough to determine behavior, but there are subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. The effect of local leader power on the dynamics and behavior of the society protest is appreciable.  Keywords:  attitudes, behavior control, power, subjective norms, work and business opportunities

Abstract

East Kalimantan province has issued a mining license (IUP) reached 1,192 pieces, until August 2014. Kutai Kartanegara is a county that issued the largest IUP is 407 companies, which 218 companies have been involved in the production, while the remaining 189 are still in the exploratory stage. Embalut village and village Bangunrejo which become part of the administration Tenggarong Seberang Sub-District, Kutai Kartanegara, is a village that has more than 30 years was associated with the mining industry, PT. Kitadin. The results showed that: (1) the mining industrialization has changed the structure of land in the village Embalut and village  Bangunrejo where land holdings in both villages have concentrated on coal mining companies. (2) mining Industrialization increasingly encourage people to work or livelihood in outside agriculture (deagrarianization). This study used qualitative methods, with in-depth interview techniques, group discussions, observation, and study of literature / documents. Abstract

Paddy field, the paddy planted area, is a very important land since it produces staple food –  rice. Nevertheless, the contradictory condition occurs when agricultural land converted into non-agricultural land. Agricultural land that is not protected is proned to the land conversion, especially in urban areas or the growing city. The study aimed to figure out the strategies for protecting paddy field by identifying the spatial pattern of social quality of paddy field farmers. the research methodology used mixed concurent method by using qualitative and quantitative data and it was analized by cluster analysis. The research analysis used cluster analyisis in order to show the farmer similarity characteristics of each sub-districts. T h e resu lts sh o wed ,  th e fa rm er s’s so cia l rela t io n s g rou p  is fo rm ed  o f six typ e s co m m u n ity,  n a m ely : (1 )  th e farmer owners, (2) the farmers owner also tenant, (3) the farmer owners concurrent collector (middlemen), (4) peasant (5) peasant also farm laborer, and (6) a laborer. Labor, farmers regeneration, and land tenure fragmentation influenced to land use change. The strategies can be implemented to protect sawah in S u kab u m i,  n a m ely: (1 )  b y in crea sin g  th e fa r m er’s  a g rib u sin ess ca p a c ity, (2) Formulating the action plan for regenerating young farmers, (3) by controlling the permission regarded to change of land use, (4) Sukabumi municipal buys the productive ricefields. For further, It seem should be conducted assessment on studying of the study on the Agropolis and Agroedutourism concept in Sukabumi. Keyword: farmer community, paddy field protection strategy, social quality, sosio-agrarian PENDAHULUAN Latar Belakang  Pendekatan pembangunan selama ini mengedepankan pada pembangunan yang berorientasi pada pertumbuhan ekonomi dengan mengesampingkan faktor-faktor sosial dan hal yang mendasar. Wiradi (2000) menyatakan bahwa pembangunan a la Orde Baru menganut paradigma modernisasi. Paradigma modernisasi bertumpu pada pandangan bahwa secara global, pembangunan itu terdiri dari empat proses, yaitu: (1) penanaman modal untuk meningkatkan produktivitas, (2) proses alih teknologi dari negara maju ke negara berkembang dalam rangka penerapan iptek bagi kegiatan produksi dan jasa, (3) proses munculnya negara-negara, dan organisasiorganisasi politik dan ekonomi skala besar, dan (4) proses urbanisasi (Wiradi 2000).

Abstract

Sustainable development of coastal and marine resources in Indonesia reveals that women take an important role in coastal and marine sectors. This study focused on women's perception of their role. It aimed to assess the women’s perception about their role and to analyze the relationship between internal and external factors with women's perception about their role in cockle cultivator households. This study applied survey method with quantitative approach which is supported by qualitative information. The result of this study found that most respondents are in middle adulthood (31-50 years), have low education levels, low income levels, has a job as “ pengitri k”  and Bugis tribes.  The results of descriptive analysis showed that women's perception of their role in the household tend to be less good, it means respondents did not have a conscious view of gender in almost aspects of household roles. The results of statistical analysis showed that internal factors which is income level and employment has significantly related to women’s perceptions about their role in the household. Another factors such as age, education, and income has not  significantly related to the women’ s  perception. External factors in this study such as husband’s age, husband's education level and husband’s  income level is not significantly related to the women's perception of their role in the household. Keywords: women’s p erception, cockle cultivator households, gender

Abstract

Keberadaan ekowisata mempengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat di seluruh wilayah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini diringkas dalam dua pernyataan. Pertama, menentukan dampak sosio-ekonomi diterima oleh masyarakat lokal karena adanya ekowisata. Kedua, menentukan dampak sosio-ekologis yang diterima oleh daerah karena adanya ekowisata masyarakat. Hasil didasarkan pada dampak sosial ekonomi meliputi rumah tangga meningkat tingkat pendapatan, tingkat kerja sama, laju perubahan dan penilaian gaya hidup, tingkat komunikasi, persepsi warga terhadap wisatawan, tingkat kerja alokasi waktu dan tingkatan penduduk dalam kegiatan ekonomi. Dampak sosial-ekonomi tidak terlihat di Kampung Citalahab untuk ekowisata dan desa tertutup bagi wisatawan yang berkunjung. Sosial-dampak ekologis dapat dilihat tingkat keterlibatan penduduk dalam konservasi penelitian lokal, dan perumahan status. Kata kunci: ekowisata, dampak sosio-ekonomi, dampak sosio-ekologi

Abstract

The tourism has a very significant role in national economic development. Social changes occured as a result of direct contacts from tourism in tourist areas. One of consequence from the tourism activities is emergence of businesses and  employment  opportunities  which  can  encourage  local  economies.  The purpose of this research was to identify business and employment opportunities as a result of tourism activities at Pramuka Island and also to identify characteristics of the community. Another purpose is to analyze level of income, linkages between agricultural sector and nonagriculture sector, and transfer of resources (land) that arise due to tourism activities. The research methods are qualitative method which supported by quantitative methods. The results showed that tourism activities in Pramuka island has created business and employment opportunities for local community. Opportunities are predominantly used by natives. Tourism businesses and employment tend to be main livelihood of local people although their income are still at low-income levels. Linkage between agriculture sector and nonagriculture sector in Pramuka Island is shown by the increasing demand in fisheries sector as raw material for some businesses. Transfer of resources tends to occur among natives and there is one policy that prohibits people to build a building around the island ring road. Keywords : impact, tourism, business and employment opportunities.

Abstract

Nelayan di Desa Les memiliki spesialisasi dalam menangkap ikan hias sejak tahun 1982 dengan menggunakan potasium sianida, setelah bertahun-tahun terumbu karang rusak parah. Kesadaran nelayan muncul untuk mengubah pola penangkapan ikan mereka menjadi lebih ramah lingkungan. Pada awal 2000, gerakan hijau ini diprakarsai oleh LSM mulai mengubah kondisi sistem perikanan Les. Masyarakat tradisional Bali dan kesadaran nelayan memiliki peran besar untuk mengontrol jalannya perlindungan terhadap perikanan berkelanjutan. Pada tahun 2006, sertifikasi ekolabel diperkenalkan kepada nelayan Desa Les. Itu diterapkan untuk dua tahun (2006-2008). Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh yang ekolabel sosial ekonomi bagi nelayan ikan hias. Kata kunci: nelayan ikan hias, ekolabel, perikanan berkelanjutan, Bali, Indonesia

Abstract

Migrasi internasional terjadi karena pertumbuhan penduduk yang tidak diimbangi dengan pertumbuhan kesempatan kerja. Bagi perempuan desa yang tidak memiliki banyak keterampilan, migrasi internasional adalah kesempatan emas untuk meningkatkan ekonomi keluarga mereka. Masalah ini sangat kompleks tapi menarik untuk dikaji. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan perempuan di desa pergi ke luar negeri untuk bekerja dan pemanfaatan remitansi dalam rumah tangga migran. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survei yang merupakan penjelasan dan penelitian deskriptif. Penelitian daerah adalah Pusakajaya Desa, Subang, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian, ketersediaan lapangan kerja di daerah tujuan dan lahan pertanian terbatas di daerah asal menjadi faktor utama bagi perempuan di desa untuk bekerja di luar negeri. Pemanfaatan remitan di Desa Pusakajaya dialokasikan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan konsumsi, produksi, investasi di bidang pendidikan dan ekonomi, sedangkan alokasi investasi sosial tidak ditemukan. Pemanfaatan pengiriman uang oleh keluarga migran di Desa Pusakajaya membentuk pola umum dalam memenuhi kebutuhan konsumsi dan investasi pendidikan. Kata kunci: migrasi internasional, para pekerja migran perempuan, pengiriman uang.
