Abstract

Aims - The aim of this study is to analyse the impact of implementing gamification features on brand engagement and brand loyalty amongst Generation Z users of the Tokopedia app in Bombana Regency. Methodology - This quantitative study collected data from 190 Generation Z respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) approach with the aid of SmartPLS 3.0 software. Findings - The results of the hypothesis testing show that gamification has a positive and significant effect on brand engagement (β = 0.739, T = 18.376, p = 0.000) and brand loyalty (β = 0.684, T = 16.121, p = 0.000). The relationship has an effect size (f²) classified as ‘large’, indicating that gamification is a key factor driving users’ emotional attachment and purchasing commitment. Research Limitations - The limitations of this study lie in the fact that the sample was restricted to Generation Z in suburban areas. The practical implications provide strategic guidance for e-commerce management and SMEs on how to optimise experience-based marketing to improve customer retention in developing regions. Originality - The novelty of this research lies in the integration of Self-Determination Theory to explain the phenomenon of e-commerce gamification amongst Generation Z in non-metropolitan areas.

Abstract

Aims - This study aims to analyse the effect of Work-Life Balance (WLB) on Turnover Intention (TI) among Generation Z employees, specifically examining the moderating roles of Perceived Organisational Support (POS) as an internal factor and Perceived Job Opportunities (PJO) as an external factor. Methodology - This study utilises an explanatory quantitative research design. Data were collected via structured questionnaires using a 5-point Likert scale from a sample of 180 Generation Z employees (born between 1997–2012) working across Kopi Kenangan outlets in Surabaya, Indonesia. Hypothesis testing and interaction effects were analysed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) via IBM SPSS. Findings - The findings reveal that Work-Life Balance significantly decreases Turnover Intention. This relationship is reinforced by Perceived Organizational Support and attenuated by Perceived Job Opportunities. Research Limitations - Practically, management must provide flexible scheduling, fair workloads, and clear internal career paths to counter external job offers. Theoretically, this study extends social exchange and job mobility theories by linking internal organisational support with external labour market alternatives. However, the scope remains limited to the coffee retail sector within a single metropolitan city. Originality - This study offers a distinct contribution by simultaneously integrating internal support mechanisms (POS) and external market pull factors (PJO) as moderators. While prior studies evaluate these elements in isolation, this research provides a comprehensive, holistic framework capturing the unique career behaviours and retention dynamics of Generation Z within the rapidly growing modern coffee retail industry in emerging markets.

Abstract

Aims - This study aims to analyze the influence of internal Good Corporate Governance (GCG) mechanisms and firm size on the financial performance of Islamic Commercial Banks (Bank Umum Syariah) for the 2020–2024 period. Methodology - A quantitative approach was employed using secondary data from annual reports of Islamic Commercial Banks registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Internal GCG is proxied by institutional and managerial ownership, while financial performance is measured by Return on Equity (ROE). Data were analysed using multiple linear regression with Eviews 13 software. Findings - The regression results indicate that internal GCG has a positive and significant effect on ROE (β = 0.6209; p < 0.000), while firm size also shows a significant positive effect (β = 0.0837; p < 0.000). The overall model is statistically significant (F = 72.30; p < 0.000) with a strong explanatory power (Adjusted R² = 0.9412), suggesting that GCG mechanisms and firm size are key drivers of financial performance in Islamic commercial banks. Research Limitations - The study is limited to internal governance proxies and a specific time frame, future research could incorporate external governance variables or macroeconomic factors. Practically, this study encourages Islamic banks to optimize their ownership structures to strengthen financial stability. Originality - This research provides updated empirical evidence on the resilience of Islamic banking performance during the 2020–2024 period, highlighting how internal governance serves as a strategic pillar amidst evolving economic challenges.

Abstract

Aims - The primary objective of this research is to investigate and analyse the influence of customer experience and customer trust on customer loyalty at Seblak RC Karawang. The study seeks to determine whether these factors act independently or synergistically in fostering long-term consumer commitment within the competitive Indonesian street food sector. Methodology - This study employs a quantitative research design with a descriptive and causal explanatory approach. Data were gathered from 96 respondents via purposive sampling, specifically targeting dine in customers. The instruments were validated using r-table comparisons and Cronbach’s Alpha. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics, encompassing classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing (t-tests and F-tests). Findings - The results reveal a compelling statistical anomaly; partially, neither customer experience nor customer trust has a significant impact on loyalty (Sig. > 0.05). However, simultaneous testing (F-test) demonstrates a significant collective influence (Sig. 0.000), with a high Coefficient of Determination (R2) of 86.1%. This indicates that loyalty is not built on isolated factors but on the holistic integration of physical interaction and brand integrity. Research Limitations - The research is limited by its focus on a single geographic location and dine-in consumers. Practically, it implies that MSME owners must manage marketing strategies holistically rather than in fragments to ensure customer retention. Originality - This study offers unique insights into the complementary absolute nature of loyalty in the buffet style street food industry, where individual marketing pillars fail unless they are synchronised as a unified value proposition.

Abstract

Aims - This study aims to present a novel and comprehensive mapping of the integration between Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Business Analytics (BA) through a systematic review of publications from 2020 to 2025, and to develop a conceptual LSS–BA framework based on four analytical layers. Methodology - This study employed a PRISMA-guided Systematic Literature Review with a two-stage approach: 20 Q1–Q2 journal articles were analyzed to map general Lean Six Sigma trends, while 10 selected articles were examined in depth to identify Business Analytics integration and data-driven practices. Findings - The review reveals that LSS implementation remains highly dependent on traditional DMAIC tools and methods, while the use of advanced analytical approaches such as machine learning, predictive analytics, and text mining is still limited, particularly in the Analyze and Control phases. Digital integration appears only in a small proportion of the reviewed studies. Research Limitations - The main limitations include the lack of detailed quantitative evidence in existing publications and the uneven adoption of BA practices across LSS studies. These findings imply the need for stronger empirical validation and broader digital transformation in continuous improvement initiatives. Originality - This study offers original value by providing a structured synthesis of recent LSS–BA research and proposing a four-layer conceptual framework that can guide future development of data-driven and prescriptive process improvement systems.

Abstract

Aims - This study aims to examine the effect of job resources on turnover intention and to investigate the mediating role of employee engagement among Generation Z employees in the retail and service sectors. Methodology - Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 158 Generation Z employees in Surabaya through an online questionnaire and analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings - The findings reveal that job resources have a significant positive effect on employee engagement but do not directly affect turnover intention. Employee engagement significantly reduces turnover intention and serves as a significant mediator in the relationship between job resources and turnover intention. These results indicate that job resources contribute to employee retention primarily by enchancing enhancing employee engagement rather than through a direct mechanism. Research Limitations - The study is limited to Generation Z employees in the retail and service sectors, which may restrict the generalisability of the findings to other industries and generations. Practically, organizations should focus on strengthening job autonomy, supervisory support, and performance feedback to foster employee engagement and reduce turnover intention. Originality - This study contributes to the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) literature by providing empirical evidence of the mediating role of employee engagement in explaining employee retention among Generation Z workers in the retail and service context.

Abstract

Aims - This study aims to synthesise the multidimensional drivers of earnings volatility and evaluate the effectiveness of strategic mitigation mechanisms in the Indonesian capital market. Methodology - A meta synthesis approach was employed, systematically analysing twelve high impact peer reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2024. The data, spanning various indices such as LQ45 and IDX30, were categorised through thematic analysis and predictive synthesis to bridge quantitative financial metrics with qualitative governance frameworks. Findings - The results reveal that while 50% of volatility is driven by internal fundamental fragilities like leverage and asset inefficacy, the most potent buffers are non financial. Governance resilience, characterised by board diversity and virtue based communication, significantly reduces information asymmetry. Moreover, the integration of Sharia principles and technological adaptation serves as a crucial shield against systemic macro-techno shocks. Research Limitations - The study is limited by its geographical focus on Indonesia and a heavy reliance on existing quantitative literature. Theoretically, it implies a shift from purely numerical risk assessments to a holistic resilience model. Practically, it suggests that regulators and firms should prioritise ethical integrity as a strategic tool for market stability. Originality - This research is unique in its integration of Virtue Values and TechnoFinancial Dynamics into a unified predictive risk-mitigation framework, offering a novel perspective on corporate resilience beyond traditional financial ratios.

Abstract

Aims - This study addresses a gap in gig economy research within a secondary city in Eastern Indonesia by examining how income uncertainty drives work stress among online drivers in Kendari through a moderated mediation framework that integrates customer pressure as a mediator and work motivation as a buffer. Methodology - A quantitative survey design was employed. Of 130 questionnaires distributed to active Maxim and Grab drivers in Kendari City via purposive sampling, 100 were returned and deemed fully usable (76.9% response rate). Data were analyzed using PLS SEM with SmartPLS 4.0. Prior to structural model testing, common method bias was assessed using Harman's single factor test. Findings - Income uncertainty exerts a significant positive effect on work stress (β = 0.387, p < 0.001) and on customer pressure (β = 0.412, p < 0.001). Customer pressure partially mediates the uncertainty–stress relationship (indirect β = 0.123, p < 0.01), and work motivation significantly attenuates the customer pressure–stress link (β = −0.214, p < 0.01), indicating that higher motivation buffers the stress amplifying impact of demanding customers. Research Limitations - This study is limited to Maxim and Grab drivers in Kendari City, so generalization to other regions requires caution. These findings suggest that ride hailing companies need to design more stable incentive systems to reduce driver income uncertainty. Originality - This study is the first to integrate income uncertainty, customer pressure, and work motivation within a moderated mediation framework tested on gig workers in a secondary Indonesian city.

Abstract

Aims: This study aims to examine the effects of fanaticism and religiosity on the purchasing behavior of anime cosplayers in Indonesia and to investigate the mediating role of social media marketing. Methodology : This study employed a quantitative explanatory research design using survey data collected from 260 anime cosplayers in Indonesia. The proposed research model was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate both direct and indirect relationships among the constructs. Findings : The results indicate that fanaticism has a positive and significant effect on purchasing behavior and social media marketing. Religiosity does not directly influence purchasing behavior but positively affects social media marketing. Furthermore, social media marketing positively influences purchasing behavior, partially mediates the relationship between fanaticism and purchasing behavior, and fully mediates the relationship between religiosity and purchasing behavior. Research Limitations/Implications : This study focuses exclusively on anime cosplayers in Indonesia, which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other cultural settings. The findings highlight the importance of social media marketing as a strategic mechanism for strengthening consumer engagement and translating consumers' religious values into purchasing behavior. Originality : This study extends Social Identity Theory by integrating fanaticism, religiosity, and social media marketing within the context of anime cosplay consumption. It provides new empirical evidence that social media marketing functions as a key mechanism linking religiosity with purchasing behavior in a fan-based community operating within a predominantly Muslim society.

Abstract

Aims -  This study aims to identify the combination of various conditions determining the success of subsidised housing sales and to provide evidence-based strategic guidance for developers within the Indonesian property sector. Methodology - The research employs Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) with both crisp-set and fuzzy-set approaches to unravel multivariate interactions between variables simultaneously. Data were obtained from developer sales records for the 2021–2024 period, encompassing house types, pricing, plot locations, and promotional strategies. Findings - The results indicate that subsidised houses in strategic locations achieve high success rates even with price variations or a lack of promotion. Conversely, regular houses only succeed when price, location, and promotion are optimally aligned. These causal configurations confirm that sales success is not the result of a single variable, but rather the complex interaction of multiple factors. Research Limitations/Implications - The study is limited by its case-study focus; thus, further research across different developers and regions is encouraged to strengthen generalisability. Practically, the findings imply that developers must adopt a strategic approach based on combinations of conditions for block allocation, pricing, and promotional planning to enhance revenue evaluation and marketing effectiveness. Originality - This study offers unique value by applying the QCA method to the Indonesian subsidised housing market, moving beyond traditional linear analysis to reveal the holistic configurational causality essential for strategic marketing and accounting management.
