Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was determine whether there was a significant influence using Socratic Circles Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at Eleventh Grade of SMKI AL KHOIRAT Kabupaten Tangerang in academic year 2020/2021. The method of the research used quantitative research with quasi-experimental research. In this research design consists of experimental class without random selection. The students was tested by using pre-test and post-test. And the result of this research was statistical calculation by kolmogorov-smirnova test, based on testing of hypothesis, it was known that the sig (0.000) was similar than 0.05. There for it can be conclude that there is a positive effect of Socratic Circles Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at Eleventh Grade of SMKI AL KHOIRAT KabupatenTangerang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study determine whether there was a significant influence using Mini-drama Technique to improve students speaking skill at Tenth grade of SMKI AL KHOIRAT Tangerang in academic year 2020/2021. The method of the research used quantitative research with quasi-experimental research. In this research design consists of experimental class and control class without random selection. The students were tested by using pre-test and post-test. The result showed statistical calculation by kolmogorov-smirnova test, based on testing of hypothesis, it was known that the sig (0.000) was similar than 0.05. Therefore, it can be conclude that there is a positive effect of the mini-drama technique on students speaking skill at tenth grade of SMKI AL KHOIRAT KabupatenTangerang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The goal of this study is to determine whether there was an influence of weblog on students' writing ability in writing recount text at SMAN 10 Kota Tangerang in the tenth grade. There were 286 students in total. The writer used purposive sampling to select the sample of 34 students for this study. This study used a quasi-experiment research design by using pre-test and post-test with quantitative approach. Students’ test was used by the writer to collect the data. Based on hypotheses testing, it is known that sig (0,000) is smaller than 0.05. This shows that zero hypotheses (Ho) was rejected and the hypotheses alternative (Ha) was accepted. So, the writer concluded that there was a significant influence of weblog toward students’ writing ability in writing recount text at tenth grade students of SMAN 10 Kota Tangerang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This   research   was   conducted   at   SMK   Lab   Business   School Kota   Tangerang.   The   aim   was   to   know   whether   there   is   a significant    effect    of    using    Podcast    to    improve    students' listening   skill.   The   population   of   this   research   was   eleventh grade  students  of  SMK  Lab  Business  School  Kota  Tangerang. The  sample  are  37  students  of  11  AP  2.  This  research  used Quasi-Experimental.   The   data   was   collected   by   pre-test   and post-test.     The     statistical     calculation     of     the     one-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was the result of this research; the asymptotic   significance   of   the   pre-test   and   post-test   in   the experimental   class   data   is   0.000   <   0.05.It   can   be   concluded that   Ha   is accepted   and H0 is rejected. It means that the use of podcast  on  listening  skill  makes  a  significant  difference.  It  can also   be   concluded   that   the   Media   Podcast   has   a   positive impact  on  listening  skills  in  the  eleventh  grade  of  SMK  Lab Business    School    Kota    Tangerang    in    the    academic    year 2020/2021.

Abstract

The research is a pragmatic study on speech acts and conversational implicatures performed by the student’s dialogue at the Eleventh Grade of SMK Setia Bhakti. This research is aimed at identifying and describing the kinds of speech acts focusing on the dialogues. This research descriptively employed a qualitative method with the researcher as the key instrument and the data sheets used as the secondary instruments. The researcher had the role of planning, collecting, analyzing, and reporting the research findings. The data were in the form of text dialogue according to subject material class, there are Offering and Suggestion and Invitation. The steps of collecting data were students making a dialogue based on the instruction. After being collected, the data were organized and analyzed based on Searle and Leech’s theory in the illocutionary act. The research reveals some findings. There are 5 kinds of illocutionary acts in speech acts that emerged from the students’ dialogue. They are declarative, representative, expressive, directive, and commisive. First, directive speech act as one of the forms declare. The second, subtypes of representative there are stating, informing, agreeing, arguing, explaining, describing, convincing, predicting, reporting, and stating an opinion. Third, subtypes of expressive are stated in the form of greeting, thanking, apologizing, complimenting, stating pleasure, accepting, considering, and stating surprise. Fourth, subtypes of the directive are expressed in the form of commanding, requesting, suggesting, inviting, questioning, and warning. Then fifth, subtypes of kinds of speech act is commisive which is expressed in the form there are promising and offering. Each strength of illocutionary acts is used based on the text of the situation. In some of its findings, the result of the analysis speech act in illocutionary which result of every kind shows percentage; declarative was 53%, representative 19%, expressive 59%, directive 66%, and commisive 41%. Based on the findings, the directive is the illocutionary act emerged by the dialogue of students which has the most finding of various forms. There are commanding, suggesting, requesting, inviting, warning, and questioning.

Abstract

The aim of this study are to explore teachers’ strategy to teach literacy in EFL classroom and to find out their reflection in their literacy teaching. This study was conducted in descriptive qualitative approach, by using observation and interview to collect the data from the participants which were seven grades English teacher and ten students in seven grade in an Islamic private junior high school. The results showed that teachers applied various strategies to incorporate literacy in EFLclassrooom, They also shared students’ opinions as English teachers related to their belief and experience towards the teachers’ strategy and their effectiveness in teaching the literacy in English subject Keywords: Literacy, Strategies, EFL

Abstract

This research aimed to know whether there was a significant effect of using Quizizz toward Students' Grammatical Understanding at the Eighth Grade of SMPN 108 Jakarta in Academic Year 2020/2021. The research was conducted from April 9, 2021 until April 30, 2021. This research used an experimental method, 36 students of 8-Class as a sample, which was determined by the English teacher herself and this research used a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The writer collected the data using students' tests that there were pretest-posttest and observation sheet of Learning Process. The data were analyzed by mean, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The statistical results showed that there was a significant and has a positive effect of using Quizizz on the students' grammatical understanding at the Eighth Grade of SMPN 108 Jakarta in Academic Year 2020/2021 and the result of the observation sheet of learning process showed that the writer succeeded when did the learning process by using Quizizz in the class of 8-C's of SMPN 108 Jakarta in Academic Year 2020/2021. Therefore, it is recommended for teachers to use Quizizz as the alternative media in grammar teaching or English teaching and this research is expected to give information, model, or reference to be developed for further research.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate teacher-students interaction in two different English classrooms. A descriptive analysis method was employed by analyzing the interaction using the Initiation, Response, and Feedback (IRF) model. Within the interaction, the teachers' questions, feedback, and students' vocabulary production are the main focus in this research. The result showed that the two classrooms have different IRF interaction patterns as well as the teachers' choice of questions and feedback types. In response to the teachers' talk, the students provide different frequencies and a variety of vocabulary.  In short, classroom B with a more open-ended question and active feedback prompt more students' vocabulary production. The implication of this research is that this research highlights that teachers' strategies of questioning and giving feedback in the class strongly impact the students' vocabulary production.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Education quality is important for those who are involved in that school either directly or indirectly such as principle, headmaster, teacher, staff administration, students, parents and etc. A case study was used to get the overview about the quality management in school's management at SMA Negeri 1 Subang based on the school's accreditation grade A. Quality Management (QM) was employed as an approach in analyzing and characterizing the school's quality management. The purpose of study was to identify the criteria, standards and indicators in management of school, to get the overview how to get the good quality in education based on the school's accreditation A. Quality Management will be focused in analyzing management of the school. The result illustrated that QM can be used as an approach in analyzing the quality of education. There are seven indicators that should be achieved in quality management; curriculum, achievement, learning and teaching, students' support, school's ethos, resources and management, leadership and quality assurance. Quality of education organized by the member of school and it should contribute each other between principle, headmaster, staff administration, teacher, students and parents. Principles and criteria used based on Quality Management that there should be the process of plan, do, check, and act continuously. Thus, quality management in education should be designed cooperatively in the members of the school and as an evaluation it should be monitored continuously.   Keyword: Quality Management, School's Management, Language Education, English as a Foreign Language

Abstract

ABSTRACT The goal of this study is to determine the relationship between students' habit of watching English movies (X) and their listening competence (Y) in the tenth grade at SMK Prima Bakti Kab. Tangerang in the academic year 2019/2020. This study's sample size was obtained by employing a random sampling procedure on 30 students. The data was analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation, with the instruments being students' listening scores and a questionnaire on their habit of watching English films. As a result, the findings of the study revealed that there is a very weak link between students' habit of watching English movies and their listening ability. In conclusion, in the academic year 2019/2020, there is a very low link between students' habit of watching English movies and their listening skills at SMK Prima Bakti Kab. Tangerang. However, additional investigation revealed that this conclusion was influenced by a number of internal dangers. The purpose of this study is to see if there is a link between students' habit of watching English movies (X) and their listening ability (Y) in the tenth grade at SMK Prima Bakti Kab. Tangerang in the 2019/2020 academic year. The sample size for this study was determined by using a random sampling approach on 30 students.
