Abstract

Most of the mothers who gave birth stated that they could not stand the pain that was felt, especially in the abdomen, waist, back and spread to the spine, so that the mother continued to feel pain during the first stage of labor. Contractions during labor can cause pain. Labor pain can cause stress that causes excessive release of hormones such as catecholamines and steroids. One method of reducing pain without drugs that can be given continuously, is cost-effective, and has a low risk, namely acupressure. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of acupressure therapy on reducing labor pain in the active phase of the first stage. This research is a Quasi Experimental Design with a One Group Pre-Post Test Design approach. The population in this study were all birth mothers who checked their pregnancies. The sampling technique was carried out by accidental sampling and a sample of 20 respondents was obtained. Collecting data by observing the acupressure treatment with the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). Univariate analysis using frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using paired t test. The results of the study mean labor pain before being given acupressure was 6.48 and after being given acupressure was 3.84. There was an effect of acupressure techniques on active phase I labor pain (p–value 0.0001 <0.05) with a decrease of 2.64. Acupressure therapy can be applied to midwifery care for mothers in the first stage of labor which aims to reduce labor pain

Abstract

Globally, around 60% of college students perceived stress. Untreated stress will have a negative impact on students’ quality of life, moreover, it can trigger students to consume drugs and alcohol, or commit suicide. Students’ reluctance to seek help, expensive treatment cost, and long treatment times to reduce stress encouraged us to assess the effects of saffron as an alternative treatment on reducing stress among students. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of saffron on students who perceive stress. We conducted an un-blinded experimental study. We recruited 78 nursing students who perceive stress, divided into two groups, the saffron group (n=42) and control groups (n=36). Treatment protocol was: saffron group received saffron as brewed drinks, while control group drinks regular tea. The treatment duration is two weeks. Using the DASS 21 Checklist, we assessed the students at baseline, and after 2 weeks completed therapy to measure the outcome. Finally, the data were analyzed using t test statistical analysis. Saffron had a more significant impact on the stress level among the intervention group. The mean stress scores decreased from 15.4 ± 6.1 to 10.8 ± 5.8 for the saffron group (p < .0001) and from 15.6 ± 5.7 to 14.7 ± 6.4 for the control group (p < .01). Our findings suggest that saffron is as effective to reduce stress level among nursing students

Abstract

While undergoing the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic, nursing students must deal with digital device screens such as computers, laptops, and smartphones that are connected to the internet for a long time and continuously. Continuous use of digital devices harms health, such as Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). This condition causes sufferers to experience visual disturbances, eye muscle, and musculoskeletal disorders. This research aims to describe the prevalence of CVS events and symptoms felt by nursing students while undergoing virtual face-to-face lectures during the Covid-19 pandemic. This type of research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The sample of this research was 494 students from 13 public and private universities in Indonesia. This sample was selected with the Cluster Sampling Technique. The results of this study showed that the majority of nursing students complained of headaches with moderate complaints (80.2%), eye fatigue with moderate complaints (75.9%), eye redness with mild complaints (50.0%), blurred vision with complaints moderate (49.2%), dry eyes with mild complaints (74.5%), pain in the shoulders and neck with moderate complaints (40.1%). The majority of the time, using digital devices (laptops, computers, or smartphones) in attending online lectures ≥5 hours (98.6%). Most device screen monitor lighting is bright (78.7%), and the position when using most devices is in the wrong category (87.0%). Most CVS complaints among nursing students from various regions in Indonesia are at a moderate level related to complaints of headaches, eye fatigue, redness, blurred vision, and shoulder and neck pain. This can be attributed to using electronic devices for more than 5 hours in one day and poor behaviour when using these devices

Abstract

Stroke incidence in South Kalimantan ranks 6th out of 34 provinces in Indonesia. The incidence of stroke in this province continues to increase every year. In 2016 the stroke rate reached 739 cases; in 2018, it increased to 9,361 stroke cases in 13 districts in South Kalimantan. The purpose of this study is to identify in detail the description of the lifestyle of the people in South Kalimantan. The research design is Mixed Method with The Explanatory Sequential Design model. Quantitative research samples totaling 426 samples spread across 13 districts in South Kalimantan were selected with the Probability Sampling technique with the type of Stratified Random Sampling. Qualitative data collection involved 10 participants from 6 districts in South Kalimantan. The majority of respondents in this study were aged 36-45 years (32.9%), male (52.6%), worked as office workers (39%), and had a tertiary level of education (48.8%). The people of South Kalimantan have a habit of consuming foods high in sodium and fat (90.8%), moderate activity patterns (62.0%), the majority are light smokers (25.4%), and those who consume alcohol (16.7%), stress category mild (39.9%), and low health control at the nearest health facility (68.8%). The living habits of the people in South Kalimantan are still low health, where eating habits are high in sodium and fat, low daily physical activity, smoking and consuming alcohol, stress, and low routine check-ups at the nearest health facility. This is because the pattern that has been followed has become a habit since childhood. Community knowledge and obedience are also originators of the bad habits of people's days

Conclusion: The risk factors for stunting in toddlers are education level, local food processing, parental knowledge, the role of health workers, and the husband's support. The factor most related to the incidence of stunting is the husband's support.

The results, the results, between disorders, relationships and drug relationships were found. Drug abuse in cases of insomnia and anxiety is caused by a lack of knowledge about the proper use of drugs and the long-term side effects of using inappropriate drugs that lead to dependence. The effect on health is in the form of difficulty concentrating, reduction, decreased drug dose sensitivity, mental changes and behavior of users. The treatment needed in these cases is in the form of further handling of the dose and therapy required by the doctor, non-pharmacological therapy and avoiding triggers for the recurrence of treatment behavior. For this reason, it is necessary to monitor, prevent and properly handle drug cases to minimize the occurrence of excess drug risks.
