Abstract

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as benign prostate enlargement, is among the most common benign tumors affecting men, with a prevalence and incidence that increases with age, categorized as one of the genitourinary issues. In Indonesia, there are 9.2 million reported cases of BPH in men over 60 years old. Intravesical Prostatic Protrusion (IPP) is one manifestation of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) development. Patient complaints associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) can be assessed through the International Prostatic Symptom Score (IPSS). This study aims to investigate the potential relationship between Intravesical Prostatic Protrusion (IPP) and patient complaints assessed by the International Prostatic Symptom Score (IPSS) in individuals diagnosed with BPH. This research employed an observational cross-sectional study design and utilized the chi-square correlation test. Data from 67 Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) patients, all displaying prostate protrusion, were categorized into three groups based on the degree of protrusion observed on prostate ultrasound: grade I, grade II, and grade III. IPSS scores were measured using the Indonesian version of the IPSS questionnaire, where patients self-assessed their symptoms and were categorized into mild, moderate, or severe groups. Analysis using the chi-square correlation test revealed a p-value of 0.208, signifying the obtained p-value > 0.05. This suggests that no statistically significant relationship was found between the variables under investigation. The study concludes no significant relationship exists between Intravesical Prostatic Protrusion (IPP) and the International Prostatic Symptom Score (IPSS) in individuals diagnosed with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).

Abstract

Neurogenic shock is a distributed shock characterized by loss of sympathetic tone due to acute spinal cord or central nervous system injury. Cervical spine injury, spinal anesthesia, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and transverse myelitis are among the causes of neurogenic shock. Neurogenic shock describes the sudden loss of autonomic tone due to Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Disruption of the descending sympathetic pathway causes opposing vagal tone in vascular smooth muscle to decrease systemic vascular resistance and vasodilation. Hypotension resulting from neurogenic shock places patients at increased risk of spinal cord ischemia secondary to impaired autoregulation. Neurogenic shock occurs due to damage to the spinal cord above the 6th thoracic vertebra. There are no definitive diagnostic tests, but classically patients present with relative hypotension and bradycardia

Abstract

The many advantages of processed coconut products are shown by virgin coconut oil. Extraction, centrifugation, and fermentation are the three main methods for producing virgin coconut oil. In this experiment, baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) was used to ferment virgin coconut oil. The purpose of this research is to identify the properties of virgin coconut oil as a function of fermentation duration and mass variation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. According to this research, separating the water from the milk of coconuts is the first step in producing virgin coconut oil. Fermentation lengths of 12, 18, and 24 hours are used to combine skimmed cream with Saccharomyces cerevisiae, with amounts ranging from 0 to 2 grammes. Iodine, peroxide, and acid quantities are then determined by analysing the virgin coconut oil that is produced. Research shows that while making virgin coconut oil from coconut milk, the amount of time yeast is left to ferment and the mass of Saccharomyces cerevisiae do not correlate with the iodine number. The peroxide number for all variables of fermentation duration and yeast mass is two meq/kg. The acid number tends to increase with the length of fermentation, with the highest value being 0.6% at 24 hours of fermentation time and the yeast mass of Saccharomyces cerevisiae 1.5 grams.

Abstract

Child malnutrition remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, with anemia, protein-energy malnutrition (PEM), obesity, and stunting among the most frequent concerns. Stunting, a chronic form of undernutrition, particularly affects children in developing nations. This study, employing a literature review methodology guided by the PICO framework, identified six articles examining the influence of family care on stunting prevention. Similar to previous research, these studies strongly emphasize the critical role of families in successful stunting interventions. Notably, all articles highlight the family's multifaceted role, which encompasses tasks, responsibilities, relationships, and functions within the household unit. Addressing stunting necessitates a holistic approach, as its causes extend beyond purely health-related factors and are often intertwined with economic instability in developing countries.

Abstract

Febrile Seizure are one of the most common health issues experienced by children; if not promptly handled correctly, they can pose fatal risks leading to death. The main objective of this study is to try to obtain an overview of maternal behavior in managing fever convulsions in children. A literature review method was utilized for this study. Data was systematically gathered from journals and scientific databases and processed accordingly. The review's findings indicate several crucial points. Firstly, maternal knowledge regarding the management of fever convulsions is still relatively low, necessitating improvement, either through education or independently by the mothers. Secondly, there is a strong correlation between the mother's level of knowledge and her ability to manage a child experiencing fever convulsions. Studies reviewed found that the level of skill possessed by the mother significantly determines her capability to handle febrile seizure experienced by the child.
