Abstract

Hypertension is a condition in which a person will experience an increase in systolic blood pressure above normal ≥140 mmHg and diastolic ≥90 mmHg. Hypertension can be caused by poor diet and lack of physical activity. The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of foot soak therapy using warm water on lowering blood pressure in patients with hypertension in Malendeng Village, Manado City. This research is a pre experiment research with One Group pretest-postest design. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The samples amounted to 12 people who had previously checked their blood pressure using a sphygmomanometer. Furthermore, the collected data was tested for data normality. The hypothesis was tested with the Wilcoxon to find out the decrease in blood pressure in respondents with a level of significance (α) 0.05. The results showed that the most common gender obtained in the study was female with 9 respondents (75.0%). The conclusion in this research is that there is an effect of foot soak therapy using warm water on reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patients with hypertension p=0.002. This p value is less than the value of α=0.05.

Abstract

There is a significant danger to human health from oxidative stress. This disorder does not have any apparent symptoms. However, it is linked to the start and progression of many diseases. There are also no established medical procedures for detecting oxidative stress. Finding out how oral administration of red pomegranate (Punica granatum) extract increases blood glutathione peroxidase levels in female rats (Rattus norvegicus) strains is the goal of this experimental quantitative study, which employs a pre-test-post-test control group design. Maximum physical activity was induced in Wistar rats. Twenty-four animals were used in the experiments, with six in each group. Three, four, and five milliliters of red pomegranate extract were used in this experiment. With an antioxidant value of 8.33 ppm, pomegranate extract (Punica granatum) was determined to have a very robust action, according to the research. In terms of composition, the 5-milliliter dose of red pomegranate (Punica granatum) extract outperforms the others when compared to average levels of glutathione peroxidase. Researchers discovered that supplementing with red pomegranate extract (Punica granatum) considerably raised glutathione peroxidase levels, suggesting that this fruit may aid in the body's antioxidant defenses against free radicals generated by strenuous exercise.

Abstract

Hygiene and sanitation greatly affect food safety so that food is not contaminated, while sanitation of sales places is carried out to control environmental conditions from the handling of raw materials to the distribution process. This study aims to analyse how trash cans, handwashing facilities, and the personal hygiene of food handlers work. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach and was carried out in a restaurant in the working area of the Sempaja Health Centre, Samarinda City. The method of data analysis involves collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and verifying it. The results showed that of the four restaurants with trash cans, there were two that met the requirements, namely PM and WBS restaurants, and there were two restaurants that did not meet the requirements, namely ABS and C. requirements. Personal hygiene has not fully met the requirements for restaurant sanitation hygiene, and for the implementation of complete personal protective equipment, the four restaurants have not met the requirements. It is suggested that trash bins need to be provided with organic and inorganic containers that are closed and made of waterproof material lined with plastic bags for ABS and restaurant C restaurants, while for handwashing places it is necessary to provide liquid soap, running water, wipes, and tissues for the four houses. Food and sewerage must be a closed channel for restaurants ABS, C, and WBS. Personal hygiene requires the four restaurants to wear complete personal protective equipment such as aprons, head coverings, and masks, as well as short nails, and wear neat work clothes and clean.
