Abstract

Recently, the Naga scholars wrote their own stories using the stories written by the outsiders, quoting as though all of the stories were true. In doing so, they emulated their colonizers, and the latter’s half-truths further created a dilemma for the Naga people. Unless they tell their own stories, their stories will still be hidden and their traditional and cultural values cannot be restored. The coming of Western education and the Christian faith brought about tremendous changes in the Naga way of life and belief systems. This has also resulted in a drastic shift in the socio-cultural system. Modern education improves livelihood and health status. The spread of Christianity in Nagaland has both positive and negative impacts on Naga society. The changes are observed in the belief system, mindset, and attitudes of the people. Today many young people do not even remember the traditional stories, songs, and dances. They do not understand the significance of the patterns on their tribal shawls, nor do they revere nature as their ancestors did.

Abstract

This study reviewed the used of the Active Teaching and Learning Activity Manual (MaPdPA) in improving communication skills in the sixth form curriculum. This study used a combination of design and development research. A quasi-experimental design was also used to see or evaluate the effect of the Active Teaching and Learning Activity Manual (MaPdPA) in improving communication skills. The total amount for the study sample for KR and KK for both groups of students was a total of 120 students consisting of 38 male students and 82 female students. This research instrument consisted of a set of pre- and post-test questions using a 5-point Likert scale to assess the level of mastery of students' soft skills as assessed by the teacher. Quantitative data for this study was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics which aimed to describe the statistical data using the MANCOVA test. The results of the MANCOVA test analysis found that there was a significant main effect of the type of treatment using MaPdPA on the students' mastery of communication skills. Through the post-test analysis for the level of mastery of the elements of communication skills, it showed that there was a significant difference in the test mean for both groups of PA and PSA students. The PA student group turned out to have a better level of mastery of communication skills in the post-test mean value compared to the PSA student group. The used of MaPdPA is not only an innovation of BBM for teachers' use but also capable of narrowing the gap in the learning effect to increase the mastery of students' soft skills. As a result, active learning provides benefits in improving the skills of teachers and students in addition to boosting the performance of individual and institutional achievements.

Abstract

Maladaptive daydreaming is an unrecognized clinical syndrome that encompasses an unhealthy use of fantasy. Hereunder we report on the case of a 19-year-old South Asian girl with a disorganized attachment style who adopted Maladaptive daydreaming as a coping mechanism. The patient sought fantastical proximity with a famous personality to compensate for the lack of an inclination to pursue a healthy romantic relationship in real life. Deteriorating relationships with friends and family, social anxiety, and cascades of unimpressive academic performances prompted the patient to browse for answers on the internet. She discovered the 16-item Maladaptive Daydreaming scale (MDS-16) on which she scored above the cut-off score. Subsequent psychotherapy sessions wherein she was encouraged to journal her MD breaks and practice mindfulness meditation led to the patient reporting significant improvements in her professional and personal life and better control over her yearnings to daydream. We report this case to raise awareness for a disorder that shows semblances of behavioral addiction and risks being misdiagnosed or even undetected in some clinical contexts.

Abstract

In the discussion and debates on the world literature system, methodologies and methods is a topic that is valued. Moretti and Apter have prominent different opinions on the adoption of digital or abstract data outside texts and contexts. The way Moretti views the world literature system is highly based on historiography and studies of the Annual School’s influence and Immanuel Wallerstein’s World System, so the western-centric academic genes were inherited to some degree. However, the world system inspired Chinese Characters writing worlds and help form Sinophone Literature, which gives a possible response to Apter’s questioning. Among the system, ‘South’ or South Sight is a different way to deal with intercultural contexts. The article attempts to explain where the dialogue may happen and its reason from other academic traditions. Furthermore, try to methodize the South Sight as a supplement to the world literature approach.
