Abstract

The radicalism discourse that has been quite widespread in last two decades has produced various responses, ranging from counter-narrative, de-radicalization, and counter-radicalism efforts. This paper investigates specifically how efforts to counter radicalism are pursued from civil society initiatives, one of which is Young InterfaithPeacemaker Community (YIPC) in Yogyakarta. Using an interpretative phenomenological approach, this qualitative research explores several motives behind the counter radicalism movement that they organize and are equipped with avisible hybrid portraitof identity. Observation, informal interviews, and documentation are operated as dataretrieval techniques. The literature review was also deepened to elaborate data anddevelop argumentative narratives. The results obtained show that the three dialectical reasons that trigger them to counter radicalism are a collective awareness, imagined common enemy, and claims of youth fulness. In particular, the hybridization of identity that has been captured in this community can also be observed in changes in attitude, perspective, and behaviour patterns of individuals—before joining and when joining YIPC Yogyakarta. Borrowing from Gadamer’s concept, this was due to the mixture ofhorizons which later gave birth to a fused or assimilated character (hybrid) and reflected intheir speech, attitudes, social media content, and social actions.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the philosophy of positivism initiated by Auguste Comte and to trace how his philosophical ideas influence the development of the paradigmof Islamic education in Indonesia. This research is a type of library research, which is aseries of activities related to the methods of collecting library data, reading, and taking notes, and processing research materials. Through descriptive-interpretive analysis, this article argues that the philosophy of positivism has not succeeded in removing religion from human life in the world. However, the paradigm of thinking that he introduced substantially contributed to reorienting the paradigm of Islamic education in higher education from a theological orientation to an integrative orientation. The relevance of positivism in Islamic education can be seen in educational research and the integration of Islamic sciences in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

Biogas produced from livestock and agricultural waste is used by the community as asubstitute for natural gas energy and as a substitute for electrical energy to provide gas needs for gas stoves and household electrical energy needs in Tana Toraja Regency. This study aims to analyze the level of community involvement in Tana Toraja Regency in utilizing biogas as an alternative energy source and a solution for livestock and agricultural waste. Furthermore, by using a quantitative approach, this research also aims to identify the impact of using biogas as an alternative energy for the community from an economic, social and environ mental perspective. Biogas is one solution to the scarcity of posil energy sources and is an environmentally friendly alternative energy source. This advantage makes Biogas an energy source that has good prospects as an alternative energy substitute for non-renewable energy in Indonesia, which is currently experiencing an energy crisis, which is characterized by increasingly scarce and high fuel prices which have an impact on the higher production costs of power plants. The existence of renewable energy is something that is very important to meet energy needs in Indonesia.
