Abstract

This study aims to deeply examine the implementation of Sharia economic principles in managing Enje Mart, located at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School. Sharia economic principles, including values of justice, transparency, sustainability, and prohibition of riba, serve as the primary foundation for conducting Enje Mart's operational activities. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study method to provide a comprehensive depiction of how Sharia values are applied. Data collection techniques involve in-depth interviews with managers, direct field observations, and analysis of supporting documents. The results reveal that Enje Mart has successfully implemented sharia principles in various aspects, such as financial management based on profit-sharing systems, procurement of goods from local business partners, and service approaches emphasizing Islamic ethics. Additionally, a technology-driven stock management system is utilized to ensure efficiency and honesty. However, the study also identifies challenges, including limited human resource capacity in understanding the details of sharia principles and constraints in business capital. To address these challenges, regular training and mentoring were conducted by Sharia economic institutions affiliated with the boarding school. The study concludes that Enje Mart's management reflects an optimal effort in applying sharia economic principles despite facing some obstacles. Its impact is evident not only in the increased income of the boarding school but also in empowering the surrounding community's economy. This study is expected to serve as a strategic reference for other Islamic boarding schools in developing sustainable and blessed sharia-based businesses.

Abstract

Income inequality and poverty are still serious problems in Indonesia's economic development. The Islamic economic approach offers a comprehensive solution through the optimization of social instruments such as zakat, infaq, and waqf. This study discusses the great potential of zakat and waqf in Indonesia in the context of poverty alleviation and equitable distribution of welfare. Based on data from the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) and the Indonesian Waqf Agency (BWI), the potential for national zakat reaches more than IDR 300 trillion per year, while the potential for money waqf is estimated at up to IDR 180 trillion. Although the realization of the collection is still far from this figure, various programs such as Zakatpreneur, educational scholarships, free health services, and productive waqf have made a real contribution in improving the standard of living of the mustahik and strengthening the microeconomic sector. This study emphasizes that structured, professional, and sustainable management of Islamic social funds can be an important pillar in suppressing social inequality and accelerating the achievement of people's welfare. Strategic collaboration between the government, zakat, and waqf management institutions, as well as active participation of the community, is needed to realize this potential to the maximum.

Abstract

Member satisfaction is an important indicator in assessing the performance of Islamic cooperatives. The level of satisfaction can be influenced by several factors, such as service quality, product quality, and the level of member trust in the cooperative. Kopsyah-MUI East Java Bungah Branch, as one of the Islamic cooperatives, strives to increase the loyalty and satisfaction of its members through improving services and providing products that suit their needs. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of service levels, product quality, and trust on member satisfaction in saving at Kopsyah-MUI East Java Bungah Branch. This study uses a quantitative approach with a field research method. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. The population of this study was 3,015 members, and the sampling technique used was probability sampling with the Bungin formula, so that 97 respondents were obtained as research samples. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression and classical assumption tests. The results of the partial test showed that service quality did not have a significant effect on member satisfaction (sig. 0.666). On the other hand, product quality (sig. 0.000) and trust (sig. 0.050) had a positive and significant effect. Simultaneous test shows that all three variables together have a significant effect on member satisfaction (sig. 0.000). Product quality is the most dominant factor in influencing member satisfaction, followed by trust. Service still needs to be improved, even though it is not statistically significant, because it still plays a role in building positive perceptions.

Abstract

Muslim-friendly tourism has emerged as a rapidly growing segment in the global tourism industry, driven by the increasing number of Muslim travelers seeking services that align with Islamic values. However, the development of this sector still faces fragmented coordination among stakeholders and the lack of a comprehensive collaborative framework. This study aims to review and map the scientific literature on the development of Muslim-friendly tourism using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach and to analyze the integration of the Hepta Helix model in its management practices. The Hepta Helix model involves seven key stakeholders—government, academia, business actors, community, media, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and technology—as strategic elements in shaping an inclusive and sustainable halal tourism ecosystem. This study examines articles published between 2021 and 2024, sourced from databases such as Scopus, Google Scholar, and ERIC, using keywords including “Muslim-friendly tourism,” “halal tourism,” and “Hepta Helix.” The findings indicate that most studies remain focused on conceptual aspects and basic halal tourism services, while collaborative integration among actors within the Hepta Helix framework is still rarely discussed explicitly. These results highlight an urgent need for strengthened cross-sector coordination, supportive regulation, and the utilization of digital technology to enhance the competitiveness of halal tourism at both local and global levels. This study is expected to contribute to the development of more integrative policy and research directions in the field of Islamic value-based tourism studies.

Abstract

The Islamic banking system in Indonesia aims to support national progress by promoting justice and public welfare. One way to achieve this is by channeling financing as a source of additional capital. The availability of financing from Islamic banks can positively impact production and increase income. A region's income is often reflected in its Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). This study examines the significant influence of financing from Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) and Islamic Business Units (UUS) on the industrial and service sectors across Java Island from 2015 to 2023. This study applies a quantitative method, utilizing secondary annual data obtained online from the OJK and BPS websites. The collected data were analyzed using the panel data regression method, as the dataset combines time series and cross-sectional data. The results indicate that financing channeled by BUS and UUS in Java significantly affects the GRDP of the industrial and service sectors by 58%.

Abstract

Digital transformation has driven significant growth in Indonesia’s Islamic finance industry. Through innovations in financial technology (fintech), Sharia-based financial services have become more inclusive, efficient, and transparent. This study aims to analyze the forms of Sharia financial product innovations based on fintech, particularly in the models of crowdfunding and Sharia peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, as well as to identify the challenges and strategies for strengthening its ecosystem. The research employs a literature review method with a descriptive-comparative approach, drawing from various academic publications, reports from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and data from the Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI). The findings show that Sharia fintech plays a strategic role in expanding access to halal financing for MSMEs through mechanisms such as mudharabah, musyarakah, and qardh hasan. However, challenges remain in the form of low Islamic financial literacy, limited regulations and human resources, and weak public trust in fund management transparency. Strengthening strategies required include regulatory harmonization and contract standardization, enhancement of Sharia digital literacy, technological innovation through blockchain and smart contracts, and cross-sector collaboration among regulators, academics, and industry players. With the implementation of these strategies, Indonesia’s Sharia fintech ecosystem has the potential to become an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable Islamic financial model aligned with the values of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah.

Abstract

Sharia financial institutions play an important role in identifying, measuring, and managing risks related to operations and financial products to ensure compliance with sharia principles. This study aims to determine how customer investment risk is developed at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) and what is the appropriate evaluation model to address the risks that occur when investing in Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Tamalanrea Branch, Makassar City. This study uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach and data collection methods through observation and interviews, as well as analysis tools that utilise data reduction. The results of the study show that, first, the development of investment risk in Islamic banks includes financing, market, and reputation risks, which must be managed effectively through comprehensive risk management. Second, the appropriate evaluation models to address the risks that occur when investing in the Indonesian Islamic Bank (BSI) Tamalanrea Branch in Makassar are Risk-Adjusted Return on Capital (RAROC) and Value at Risk (VaR), which are proposed to improve the bank's performance and transparency. This study provides insight into the importance of risk management techniques in supporting the growth and sustainability of Islamic banking in Indonesia.
