Abstract

This study specifically focuses on the minority stigma faced by niqab wearers, particularly among university students in Lampung, Indonesia. On the one hand, this group of niqab-wearing students tries to apply Islamic teachings (read: hadith) in their everyday lives. However, this group finds itself as a minority and frequently faces a negative stereotype. Therefore, this study aims to reveal how both niqab and non-niqab-wearing students understand the hadiths pertaining to the niqab, how the majority group, consisting of students and lecturers, perceive the minority of niqab-wearing students, and how the attitudes of the minority of niqab-wearing students toward the stigmatization they encounter. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method and phenomenological approach. The results revealed that students’ understanding varied from understanding, to lack of understandin, and not understanding the hadith teachings about the niqab. Furthermore, the Islamic State University in Lampung adheres to the principle of providing equal service by the law. Similarly, in everyday situations, niqab-wearing students were not subject to any discrimination based on their minority status. Although several lecturers and students perceived niqabi as a different occurrence, they do not discriminate against students who choose to wear niqab. Consequently, niqab-wearing students remained at ease while confidently adhering to the teachings of the sunnah on the niqab.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the potential of local economy-based Sharia tourism in the coastal area of Lampung and its contribution to improving the local community’s economic welfare. This study also explored the role of infrastructure, digital promotion, and local community involvement in the development of Sharia tourism. Methodology: This study used a qualitative approach with in-depth interview methods, questionnaire surveys, participant observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify the contributions and challenges in the development of Sharia tourism. Results: The results of this study indicate that Sharia tourism has a positive impact on the economic welfare of coastal communities through increased income, job creation, and SME development. Adequate infrastructure and digital promotion significantly increased the interest of Muslim tourists, especially millennials. Local community involvement in destination management plays an important role in maintaining the sustainability of the local economy. Limitations: This study is limited to the coastal area of Lampung and uses samples that are not taken randomly, so the results may not fully represent the conditions of Sharia tourism in other areas. In addition, this study is cross-sectional and lacks longitudinal data to show the long-term impact of Sharia tourism. Contribution: This study adds to the literature on local economy-based Sharia tourism development by providing empirical evidence on the economic impacts generated. These findings support the theory of sustainable development and highlight the importance of infrastructure, digital promotion, and local community involvement as key factors in creating a sustainable and highly competitive tourism ecosystem in coastal areas.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how economic factors that affect the rate of economic growth based on Islamic values can be applied to achieve fairer and more equitable economic growth in the 10 poorest provinces in Indonesia. The research method used is quantitative, with a panel data regression analysis approach to test hypotheses about the relationship between the variables mentioned. The data was obtained from official sources such as Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS), covering the level of labor force participation, education level, regional inflation, and GDP. The results of the analysis show that the level of labor force participation and education level have a negative effect on the rate of economic growth in the 10 poorest provinces in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the inflation rate has a positive influence on the rate of economic growth in the 10 poorest provinces in Indonesia. Simultaneously, labor force participation rates, education levels, and regional inflation together have a positive effect on the rate of economic growth in the 10 poorest provinces in Indonesia. This study highlights to consider the factors that have been analyzed as a design to increase the rate of economic growth in Indonesia. With a deeper understanding of these factors, it is hoped that it can provide a better picture for the future economic growth rate.

Abstract

One of the key factors influencing an economy's development is entrepreneurship. Students are supposed to gain knowledge and refine their entrepreneurship abilities at universities. The purpose of this study is to ascertain whether the state Islamic University of Raden Intan Lampung's entrepreneurship curriculum is successful in producing new Sharia entrepreneurs. A sample of 61 Bachelor S1 students enrolled in the Sharia Business Management Study program at UIN Raden Intan Lampung participated in this quantitative research study. SEM analysis utilising intelligent PLS software is the data analysis method employed in this investigation. Probability sampling is the sampling technique employed in this investigation. The study's findings suggest that UIN Raden Intan Lampung's entrepreneurship education is effective since it significantly and favourably influences students' interest in and capacity for sharia-based entrepreneurship at S1 UIN Raden Intan Lampung with Sharia Business Management Study program. The findings of this study are consistent with Ajzen and Fishbein's (1985) Theory of Planned Behaviour, which holds that training and education pertaining to entrepreneurship can be considered effective if there is a positive correlation between the development of intentions and an increase in ability and success in entrepreneurship. The focus on Sharia features or Islamic economic principles in entrepreneurship, which influence people's interest and aptitude for entrepreneurship, is where this study differs from earlier research.
