Abstract

The resurrection of Jesus remains one of the most debated events in Christian theology, with various objections questioning its historical credibility and evidential basis. This study examines the historical evidence for Jesus' resurrection through an interdisciplinary theological-juridical approach by employing the principles of the law of evidence as an analytical framework. Using a qualitative research design based on historical, theological, and documentary analysis, the study evaluates biblical eyewitness testimony, the witness of the Apostolic Fathers, and relevant non-Christian historical sources within the categories of direct, circumstantial, testimonial, and documentary evidence. The findings demonstrate that these sources collectively satisfy the principles of evidential consistency, corroboration, and plurality required in the law of evidence. Conversely, the major objections to the resurrection fail to provide sufficient evidential support to invalidate the historical testimony. This study argues that the resurrection of Jesus can be understood not only as the foundation of Christian faith but also as a historically grounded event supported by coherent and cumulative evidence. The study contributes a novel interdisciplinary framework by integrating theological inquiry, historical investigation, and legal evidentiary analysis into contemporary Christian apologetics.

Abstract

The birth of Jesus Christ is a cornerstone of Christian teaching, serving as historical evidence and a solid foundation for theology, particularly regarding the chronological discrepancy between the reign of Herod the Great in the Gospel of Matthew and that of Quirinius in the Gospel of Luke. This article aims to critically and comprehensively analyze and compare the narratives of Christ’s birth in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke to demonstrate that the narrative differences are not contradictory but can be harmoniously understood in light of each author's historical context and theological intent. Furthermore, it seeks to contribute to biblical theology literature and enrich apologetic discourse in addressing the challenges of the digital age. A qualitative literature review was employed to examine the chronology and context of the Roman Empire at the time of Jesus’ birth. The results of the analysis indicate that the chronological differences in the two Gospels are not contradictions. Rather, they reflect the theological emphasis and intended audience of each author. Linguistically, the term πρῶτος in Luke 2:2 can be interpreted as “before,” and ἡμέραις in Matthew 2:1 refers to the reign of Herod the Great, which reinforces the historical accuracy of both Gospels. Support from Roman sources, the practice of the census under Augustus, and the rotation of Zechariah’s priestly duties reinforce the possibility that Jesus was born in 6 or 5 BC, during the final years of Herod the Great’s reign. Therefore, there is no basis for accusing the Gospels of contradiction

Abstract

Abstract: Disability in educational and pastoral practices is often perceived through a deficit paradigm, positioning persons with disabilities as objects of pastoral care and recipients of assistance. This article aims to challenge such perception by employing the theology of vulnerability as a conceptual foundation for developing an inclusive Christian Religious Education approach within Special Education Schools. This study employs a qualitative method with a systematic literature review approach by critically examining relevant works on pastoral theology, disability theology, and inclusive education. The findings reveal that students with disabilities are not merely individuals who require support but also active subjects capable of participating in and contributing to supportive relationships. This article proposes a peer pastoral accompaniment model as an inclusive Christian Religious Education approach based on three fundamental principles: mutuality, solidarity, and participation. The study concludes that true inclusion emerges when vulnerability becomes a space of shared humanity, not a reason for exclusion.
