Abstract

Language became a very essential aspect of human life as a result of the growth of a very large era at this time. Particularly in the usage of English as an international language. However, along with changes and improvements in social, cultural, and economic factors, tourism has also established the tourism sector as one of the most important factors for the global community, particularly for the people of South Nias, which still preserves and presents natural and cultural beauty that remains intact even in the midst of modernity. Of course, the existence of current tourists will elicit a favorable response. Thus, to prevent this from happening, a solution is needed, namely by providing teaching or socialization in the form of training of tour guide for the next generation. The community services program organized by Warmadewa University and Nias Raya University which aim to educate and increase the interest of the younger generation regarding the preservation of the tour guide and the awareness of tourism destination, this also has a relationship with cultural and linguistic aspects. This article used descriptive qualitative methodology to describe real-world occurrences that occur in a community. The data were gathered by observation, interviews, and documentation. As a consequence of this service, the younger generation is interested in tour guide profession in order to preserve one of the world's acknowledged of tourism in Nias Island especially for the students of English language study program at Universitas Nias Raya.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris diperlukan di hampir setiap bidang kehidupan, termasuk di bidang dunia pendidikan, dunia kerja, dunia bisnis, dll. Dengan menguasai bahasa Inggris, orang memiliki peluang besar untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan di berbagai kesempatan. Salah satu komunitas belajar di Bali yang memberikan pembelajaran di luar sekolah, yaitu Komunitas Kambodja Rumah Belajar. Komunitas ini memberikan kegiatan pembelajaran kepada anak-anak di desa Suwung. Desa Suwung merupakan salah satu desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan, Kota Denpasar Provinsi Bali yang berjarak 500meter sebelah selatan pusat kota. Anak-anak binaan di desa Suwung dikelola oleh Komunitas Kambodja Rumah Belajar. Namun, tenaga pengajar di komunitas tersebut masih harus dimaksimalkan karena tenaga pengajar merupakan para relawan. Selain itu, anak-anak di desa Suwung mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan fenomena inilah Magister Ilmu linguistik Universitas Warmadewa mengambil bagian melalui kegiatan PKM dengan mengadakan program Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris Kepada Anak Anak Binaan Di Desa Suwung Yang Dikelola Komunitas Kammbodja Rumah Belajar.

Abstract

The tour guide profession has become the most essential element of the tourist sector. On the other hand, Professional tour guides must undergo extensive training. Tourism has established itself as one of the most important factors for the global community, particularly for the people of South Nias, who still preserve and present natural and cultural beauty that remains intact even in the midst of modernity, alongside changes and improvements in social, cultural, and economic factors. The presence of present tourists will, of course, generate a favorable response. Technically, the method used in this research was qualitative research through the interview stage to find out partner problems. The source of data used in this study is primary data by conducting field observations to find out the problems faced by the students of English Language Study Program in Nias Raya University. The results showed that there was an increase in understanding the tour guides profession and being able to describe instructions or tourist attractions in practice.

Abstract

Education is a process that supports self-development and formation, making it possible to cope with all changes and problems with an open mind and creative approach without losing identity. This community provides Ice Breaking to Help the Children in Suwung Village in Starting the Process of Self-Establishment. This Community service Program activity aims to provide learning that can help the fostered children in Suwung Village, provide learning in a pleasant atmosphere to be applied to the fostered children in Suwung Village, and provide knowledge about models, media, and learning techniques—needed by the foster children in Suwung Village in the learning community in Suwung Village. The method of this community service is the program offered to partners in the icebreaking learning model. This learning model is carried out in two ways: playing together and singing as explained by Setyawan (2015) that icebreaking was carried out with two events, namely playing and singing. The result of this community service program show that the problems faced by partners are the lack of learning models that can help the fostered children in Suwung Village, partners need learning in a pleasant atmosphere to be applied to the fostered children in Suwung Village, and the lack of attention to models, media, and learning techniques needed by foster children in Suwung Village. Thus, this PKM activity is carried out to provide learning that can help the formation of the guided children in Suwung Village, provide learning in a pleasant atmosphere to be applied to the fostered children in Suwung Village, and provide knowledge about models, media, and learning techniques needed by the assisted children in Suwung Village in the learning community in Suwung Village.

Abstract

Di era pandemi seperti sekarang ini, semua profesi perlu dan mampu untuk beradaptasi dan beralih ke ranah daring untuk bisa tetap bertahan. Begitu pula profesi Interpreter. Kemampuan simultaneous interpretation jarak jauh perlu dimiliki. Artinya, seorang interpreter harus menerjemahkan lisan sebuah rapat, video konferensi, atau webinar yang diadakan di platform daring seperti Zoom, Teams, Google Meets, dan sebagainya. kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk memberikan kesadaran, minat, dan ketertarikan mahasiswa terhadap intepretring, mengembangkan potensi interpreting pada mahasiswa, dan memberikan pengetahuan tentang peluang dan tantangan dalam interpreting kontemporer. Metode yang diterapkan dalam sosialisasi adalah metode diskusi kelompok terarah. Metode diskusi kelompok terarah (Focus Group Discussion) adalah bentuk diskusi yang didesain untuk memperoleh informasi keinginan, kebutuhan, sudut pandang, kepercayaan dan pengalaman peserta tentang suatu topik, dengan pengarahan dari seorang fasilitator atau moderator. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra yaitu, kurangnya sosialisasi tentang peluang dan tantangan dalam interpreting kontemporer dan kurangnya pengetahuan mitra tentang peluang dan tantangan dalam interpreting kontemporer. Penggunaan piranti headset secara kontinyu bisa berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan pendengaran, burnout atau kelelahan fisik dan mental yang ekstrem akibat terlalu memforsir diri dalam bekerja, dan kehilangan Fokus dan Ketelitian. Gagal fokus dan salah dalam menerjemahkan bisa berakibat fatal. Di samping itu, peluang seorang interpreter antara lain berdasarkan mode temporal kerja dibedakan atas Consecutive interpreting, Simultaneous interpreting, dan Sight Interpreting.
