Abstract

EDF is an electric propulsion consists of a duct, fan, and electric motor with the motor power source coming from a battery which creates compression air for thrust. The design and configuration of an EDF is not complicated as a jet engine, but it could generate high thrust for highspeed flying like highspeed UAV needs. The preliminary design of an EDF yields a design and performance estimation. The design needs validation by experimental tests for real performance data. The test needs test tools and EDF itself. The aim of this research is experimental testing of an EDF for real performance data as validation of the existing design. The performance test is done by EDF test bed hence the manufacturing process of EDF is done by 3D printing. Test results show differences in performance of EDF with estimation results by analytical approach. The thrust of EDF from the experimental test is lower than the estimation calculation from the preliminary design, so the EDF does not fill the design criteria yet and needs refinement design.

Abstract

The need for motorized vehicles in Indonesia has increased, following the conditions of the Indonesian people who have high mobility. Currently, the Government of Indonesia is trying to control the use of fuel oil, so a solution is needed to modify the octane value of the fuel used while still paying attention to performance and exhaust emissions from vehicles. The addition of Eco Racing to pertalite can increase the octane value, thus affecting fuel consumption. This study aims to determine the effect of Eco Racing variations on performance, fuel consumption, and exhaust emissions on a GL Max motorcycle. This study uses an experimental method with testing using a dynamometer and a gas analyzer. The results showed that the variation of Eco Racing had an effect on performance, fuel consumption, and exhaust emissions on the Gl Max motorcycle with the best mixture being 2 Eco Racing tablets. Performance has increased with the best torque produced being 9.15 Nm and the best power produced is 9.8 HP. Fuel consumption is decreasing until it reaches a value of 2.1 kg/kWh, making it more fuel efficient. Exhaust emissions are more environmentally friendly where CO becomes 5.91%, HC becomes 6011 ppm, and CO2 becomes 2.63%, while O2 increases to 11.51%. The condition of the vehicle affects performance so that the increase in torque and power can only be maintained up to 8000 rpm and the Eco Racing mixture is not able to reduce Hydrocarbon emissions to below the Threshold Value. Where in this study, hydrocarbons were only able to be reduced to 6011 ppm, while the threshold value that had been set was 2400 ppm.

Abstract

The strength of welded joints is influenced by a wide variety of factors. One of them is due to structural changes as a result of the heating process. In order for the connection between the two metal parts to have good quality, it is necessary to have a proper welding and the connection and the shape of the weld bevel are in accordance with the use of the results of the weld. Parameters in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) welding include current strength, voltage, electrical polarity, and the angle of the joint used. These parameters make the basis for the right selection in order to get a good quality or connection quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of bevel variations on the tensile strength test of the SMAW welding process connection on medium carbon steel material. The welding process is carried out using RB 26 type electrodes using a current of 100 A at 1 G welding position, welding is carried out on the material using V, I and double V bevel with 1 specimen per bevel. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the type of joint bevel has an important influence on the results of the weld. From the variation of the bevel that has the highest tensile strength value, it is V bevel rather than double V bevel and 1 bevel. Due to the variation of V bevel has a small distortion angle compared to double V bevel and I bevel. Optimal electric welding results depend on the welding process technique.

Abstract

Renewable energy is energy that can replace fossil energy that will run out, renewable energy sources can come from the sun, water, geothermal, biomass and wind. Based on this explanation, the researchers conducted research on the conversion of wind energy into electricity by making ODGV wind turbines, for the purpose of this study was to find out how the number of blades and the load affect the performance of ODGV type wind turbines. The type of research that the author uses is quantitative research, in this method the author conducts research using a total of 7 blades and variations in lamp load 0, 3, 6 and 9 watts. The analyzed values ​​include voltage, current and revolutions per minute. From the results of the study, it was found that the ODGV wind turbine with a total of 7 blades produced a maximum value, namely, a voltage of 10 volts, a current of 0 watts and an RPM of 280.4 with a lamp load of 0 watts.

Abstract

Screen printing is a technique of printing graphic designs using gauze or called screens. One application of the screen printing machine is on the cup. The more beverage vendors in cup packaging like today, the more screen printing machines are needed. To meet these needs, a cup screen printing machine was made. The purpose of the study was to determine the shape and dimensions as well as the performance of the semi-automatic cup screen printing machine. The research method carried out is by designing and manufacturing a semi-automatic cup screen printing machine and testing with two different types of molding, namely 14 Oz and 16 Oz. From the results of the design and manufacture of the semi-automatic cup screen printing machine design, the length is 600 mm, the width is 400 mm and the height is 900 mm. Using an electric motor of 0.25 HP, gear box 1:60, screen length of 400 mm and width of 150 mm and using a steel frame ST 37 type L. Based on the results of tests and calculations it is known that the production capacity of the screen printing machine is 300 cups/hour and the quality production with 14 Oz molding type is 92% good, 4.67% normal, 2.6% bad while 16 Oz molding is 88% good, 7.34% normal, 4.6% bad. The electrical power consumption of the screen printing machine is 328.6 Watt and the mechanical efficiency is 54.04 %.

Abstract

Welding is a process of joining two or more metals into a form of connection using a heat process. This study aims to determine the value of the bending test strength on SMAW welding using the E6013 electrode, using variations of electric current, namely 100A, 110A, 120A and cooling media. The welding method used is SMAW welding with AISI 1037/ST37 material. The type of seam used is V-slope with a slope of 600 according to AWS d1.1:2000 standardization. The test carried out is a bending test using the Three Point Bending method. The value of the bending stress at room temperature media is 113.3 kgf at a current of 110A with the lowest value. For the current strength of 120A, the largest is 117.3 kgf. The value of the bending stress on mineral water immersion media is 103 kgf at a current of 120A with the lowest value. For a current of 100A, the largest is 110.3 kgf.

Abstract

Vegetable and fruit waste in traditional markets is very abundant, consisting of several waste materials left over from the sorting process for sale such as kale, cabbage, spinach, mustard greens, sweet potato leaves, cassava leaves and broccoli. Then fruit waste such as oranges, salak, melons, watermelons, and mangoes also adorn the market. In fact, the rest of the vegetables and fruits that are only used as waste can be used as materials to be processed to produce alternative energy, namely biogas. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of vegetable and fruit waste raw materials with the addition of effective microorganisms (EM4) on the production and pressure of the biogas produced. The research was carried out with variations of raw materials for vegetable and fruit waste with a ratio of 50%; 50%, 60% ; 40%, and 60% ; 40%. The results in comparison 1 obtained a mass of 0.03169 kg with a pressure of 14751 N/m2, while in the second comparison, better results were obtained, the resulting pressure was 2552, 62 N/m2 and the mass obtained was 0.0323956 kg, then in the third comparison, the resulting pressure is 11635.66 N/m2 with a mass obtained of 0.315107 kg.

Abstract

Remelting or metal casting is a recycling method that can be done to obtain a material with the desired physical and mechanical properties by changing its basic properties. Re-melting has a weakness, namely the toughness of the metal will decrease along with the re-melting treatment, due to phase changes that occur during the re-melting step, both physical and mechanical changes. Recycled aluminum wheels so that they can be reused properly and safely, treatment must be carried out to justify their structure. Manganese is used in several metal alloys to enhance favorable characteristics such as strength, hardness, and durability. The purpose of this study was to determine the hardness value of the effect of remelting used aluminum alloy wheels with manganese added in it. The research method used was experimental by re-melting used aluminum alloy wheels with manganese added, printing specimen models, and testing hardness using the Vickers method. The addition of manganese was carried out with a composition of 1.0%Wt, 1.2%Wt, and 1.4%Wt. The highest hardness value is owned by the specimen with the addition of 1.2%Wt manganese, which is 87.8 Kgf/mm2. The higher the Mn composition up to 1.2%Wt, the higher the hardness value. The hardness value will weaken when the addition of manganese exceeds 1.2%Wt.
