Abstract

This paper concerns itself with a discussion on “Peace as an Authentic Foundation of Education from the Confucian and Perspectives: A Nigerian Situation.” Nigerian System of Education values little or no peace. So as a country she had been severally threatened by social vices such as kidnappings, political thuggery, gang robbery, ethnic clashes, militancy, and religious extremism. These social menace had grossly affected the educational activities in the country, thereby caused the students, the teachers/Lecturers and the general society to face suffering ranging from death to ignominy (great dishonor, shame, or humiliation), anxieties, infirmities, miseries and hunger. Man is encompassed with evils and oppressed with anguish of spirit. The human existence is dolorous, plaintive, sorrowful, mournful, melancholic, pathetic, pitiful, sympathetic, doloroso and ponderously sad. These stripped man of his seamless garment of peace and happiness thereby leaving man with bitter tears. However, Confucius’ Five Relationships will be used to attempt solution to the absent of peace in our academic system in Nigeria. Confucius said that Men have innate desire for peace. To be more realistic; for any meaningful development to happen in any society, such society must necessarily experience social stability. When there is cohesion and harmony in the society; achievement and progress become easy. Unless men live in peace, the proper dispositions that determine progress will be illusive, false and mentally misrepresented. Critical and Clarification are the methods used in this paper. The paper advocated the “give peace a chance” to be used as a working tool for educational advancement in Nigeria.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Kewajiban dan tanggungjawab germo sebagai penyedia jasa bisnis prostitusi atau pelacuran di kota Watansoppeng . (2) Kehidupan sosial antara germo dan pekerja seks komersial di Jalan Reformasi di kota Watansoppeng. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif yang dianalisa dan dituliskan secara deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dengan melibatkan sebanyak 13 (tiga belas) orang informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1) Strategi germo dalam menjaga eksistensi bisnis prostitusi online di di kota Watansoppeng yakni dengan menyediakan fasilitas kepada para pekerja seks komersial yang bekerja untuknya serta memberikan pelayanan kepada para pengunjung yang hendak berkunjung. (2) Relasi serta ikatan sosial antara germo dan pekerja seks komersial di di kota Watansoppeng untuk menjaga keberlangsungan bisnis prostitusi online yakni layaknya keluarga sendiri seperti anak dan orang tua.

Abstract

Given the fact that democracy as a system and form of governance which allows for even participation, freedom of expression, rule of law and other indices attached thereto, had awaken the consciousness of humanity from all over the world to key into this form of leadership due to its uncommon benefits. Africa her ‘third world cousins’ seemed to have remained in a slumbering position and have refused to wake up and wear the toga of democratic principles as acts displayed by leaders lacked democratic character. This paper argues that democratic dividends and flavour can be felt and directly impacted on the citizens of Africa especially Nigeria, if adequate political socialization, culturalization and consciousness are fused as part of her cultural education. This new consciousness and democratic mindset will arguably make leaders and the led see each other as an inclusive indispensable part of the whole. It will also eliminate unwantom suspicion, rancour, ethnic bigotry, exclusion and hegemonic display of power and more so, leadership may not be tenured but anchored on performance and service delivery. The paper believes that with a political consciousness, socialization and high sense of political culture, leadership becomes service to the humanity and not business enterprise. Hence leaders that performed optimally may continue to serve the people if they so desire. This paper adopts critical, analytical and expository methods.

Abstract

This paper sought to find out whether COVID 19 is as a result of natural evil, human evil or both. The researchers adopt an expository method in carrying out this work. Viruses have been around in the world long as life itself. We can confidently say that life as we know it would not exist without viruses. Viruses do leave “fossils” in the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA)-the hereditary material in humans and of other organisms, from which their history can be reconstructed. It is as a result of this that the researchers posit that COVID 19 is neither natural evil nor human evil. The researchers conclude that the issue of COVID 19 outbreak ravaging the earth has a sufficient reason. But sometimes our emotions blind us from seeing the reason but solely the event.

Abstract

ABSTRAKYunita Amalia Amran, 2017. Pengaruh Status Sosial Ekonomi Keluarga Terhadap Motivasi Bekerja Anak Remaja di Dusun Kale Anassappu Kabupaten Gowa. Program Studi Sosiologi, Jurusan-Antropologi, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Hukum. Universitas Negeri Makassar “Dibimbing oleh Idham Irwansyah Idrus selaku pembimbing I dan Supriadi Torro selaku pembimbing II”.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tingkat pendidikan orang tua terhadap motivasi bekerja anak remaja di Dusun Kale Anassappu Kabupaten Gowa, pengaruh pendapatan terhadap motivasi bekerja anak remaja di Dusun Kale Anassappu Kabupaten Gowa, pengaruh pekerjaan orang tua terhadap motivasi bekerja anak remaja di Dusun Kale Anassappu Kabupaten Gowa, dan pengaruh kepemilikan terhadap motivasi bekerja anak remaja di Dusun kale Anassappu Kabupaten Gowa. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah tingkat pendidikan, pendapatan, pekerjaan, dan kepemilikan. Sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah motivasi bekerja. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh anak remaja Dusun Kale Anassappu Kaupaten Gowa, sedangkan penentuan sampel dari populasi sebanyak 75 orang dengan taraf kesalahan sebesar 10% adalah sebanyak 59 orang. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi berganda.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keempat variabel bebas berpengaruh signifikan pada motivasi bekerja remaja di Dusun Kale Anassappu kabupaten Gowa. yaitu pengaruh tingkat pendidikan yang memiliki nilai Sig. sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, pengaruh pendapatan memiliki nilai Sig. sebesar 0,002 < 0,05, pengaruh pekerjaan memiliki nilai Sig. sebesar 0,004 < 0,05, dan pengaruh kepemilikan memiliki nilai Sig. sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Kemudian hasil uji F menunjukkan nilai Sig. sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga dapat disimpulkan variabel bebas secara bersama-sama berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi bekerja.

Abstract

The Big Brother Naija show is a reality television programme in Nigeria that premiered first in the year 2006, a programmein Nigeria that admits between 12 and 21 housemates for a period of 3 weeks to evoke certain characteristics from them. From inception, the show has attracted wide condemnation over acts of indecency and immorality among the housemates, while some audiences feel the program still has some benefits to the housemates, the audiences and Nigeria as a whole. Consequently, the call for ban of the program in some quarters as well as the support for the survival of same places the audience of the show in a dilemma. The objectives of this paper include to ascertain the benefits or values of the Big Brother Naijaprogramme to the housemates and audiences and to determine the audiences’ position on the survival or proscription of the show. This study is supported by a framework of Uses and Gratification Theory and the Social Learning Theory. Under the quantitative research method employed in this study, the survey design was adopted for a sample population of 460 respondents. Findings show that audiences largely accept that the show has value to the social and economic status of the housemates with little value to educational and emotional needs of the audience despite its fairly significant entertainment value.More respondents agreed to the indecent and corrupt nature of the Big BrotherNaija with a little more than of half of the population calling for its ban. The study concludes that the ban of the show was not necessary as this will negate all the benefits. The paper recommends that producers of the show should consciously introduce rules that will mitigate core acts of indecency and immorality among the housemates while members who find the program distasteful should avoid tuning to the channels.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil komunitas Isti beauty serta untuk mengetahui peranan jaringan sosial dalam komunitas isti beauty community. Penentuan informan dalam penelitian ini dengan purposive sampling yang melibatkan ketua komunitas dan anggota komunitas yang telah menjadi coreteam sebanyak 4 orang dalam komunitas bisnis isti beauty community. metode penentuan data dalam penelitian ini dengan wawancara kepada informan serta menggunakan data sekunder sebagai penguat fakta lapangan sehingga haris yang didapatkan berdasarkan masalah yang diangkat: a) Profil Komunitas Isti Beauty merupakan jaringan MLM yang menggunakan pola matahari/sistem binnary break away, komunitas ini telah memiliki 6 jaringan bawahan yang aktif / Core team , rata rata penghasilan sebanyak 7 juta perbulan dengan produk hero yang dipasarkan ialah Odol dan Hair and body care. b) Jaringan Sosial dalam sebuah Komunitas yang dibentuk dalam bisnis MLM membantu meningkatkan daya saing serta mampu menjadi kunci pada perkembangan jaringan bisnis isti beauty. Dalam memperluas jaringannya ia mengandalkan sosial media untuk merekrut anggota dengan memberikan kepercayaan berupa prestasi dan kualitas produk, norma yang dibangun dalam komunitas ini berupa aturan tertulis maupun tidak tertulis, serta rutin dalam mengadakan pelatihan untuk membangun mindset bisnis yang mampu menunjang prestasi dan point anggota jaringan.

Abstract

 ABSTRAK Modal Sosial Nelayan Patorani di Desa Mangindara Kecamatan Galesong Selatan Kabupaten Takalar. Dibimbing oleh Idham Irwansyah, dan Musdaliah Mustadjar. Program Studi Sosiologi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Makassar                   Hasil peneiltian ini menunjukkan bahwa peran modal sosial membentuk hubungan yang kokoh pada nelayan patorani. Komponen modal sosial yaitu, kepercayaan, jaringan sosial, solidaritas, norma, maupun Respirositas menjadi satu-kesatuan yg padu ini hingga membentuk kerjasama maupun hubungan satu dengan lainnya didalam maupun diluar hubungan punggawa-sawi. Juga pula membentuk hubungan dengan menjunjung tinggi kerjsama antara sesama nelayan patorani. Peran dan fungsi antara punggawa dan sawi’ tidak terlepas dari terbentuknya modal sosial yang yg mereka bangun. Hal ini yg membuat terbentuknya hubungan sosial-ekonomi yang baik pada Masyarakat Pesisir, khususnya pada Nelayan Patorani.

Abstract

The concept of liberation is one of the most fundamental concepts, a central notion of many different religious and philosophical traditions in the world. People always have desires for safety, happiness, perfection and a particularly earnest desire for liberation from the bondage, suffering of body and mind. Every successive religion has been more or less influenced by the previous religions in theories as well as in practices, yet there exist some differences among them. Most of the prophetic religions believe that the path leading to liberation is the service of God or submission to His orders. On the other hand, some religions subscribe to rites and pillars. However, humans are living in the modern world, which is an amalgam of multiple cultures and religions. The potential threats of violence, wars and social evils, especially religious conflicts are always present. The comprehensive knowledge of several cultures and religions may bridge the gaps among different faith groups. Every religion or tradition must be understood as one kind of flower among several kinds of flowers in a big garden. As such, every religion has its particular values that deserved to be respected and protected. And the common purpose of all religions is to serve human needs. Thus, the essence of this work is to reveal the concept of Liberation within some philosophical school of thought. This research employs the method of Historical, Analytical and Comparative method to arrive at its conclusions.

Abstract

ABSTRAK ZULPIKAR, 2022. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Klasifikasi Nelayan di Kelurahan Bonto Lebang Kabupaten Bantaeng, dan bagaimana Transformasi Pengetahuan Berdasarkan Klasifikasi Nelayan di Kelurahan Bonto Lebang. Penelitian ini di lakukan di Kelurahan Bonto Lebang yang terletak di Kabupaten Bantaeng Sulawesi Selatan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan sumber data primer dan sumber data sekunder. Dari lapangan di temukan bahwa:  (1) Klasifikasi Nelayan di Kelurahan Bonto Lebang terdapat tiga Klasifikasi Nelayan, yaitu: Nelayan Parengge, Nelayan Jaring Tasi (Palanrak), dan Nelayan Jaring Benang (Pajala). (2) Transformasi Pengetahuan Berdasarkan Klasifikasi Nelayan yaitu: Nelayan Parengge Pengetahuan astronomi, musim, dan iklim yang sudah di gantikan oleh satelit, Nelayan Jaring Tasi Sebagian nelayan lanrak sudah tidak lagi menggunakan pengetahuan keterampilan membuat alat tangkap lanrak karena sudah ada yang menjualnya serta sudah ada mesin pembuat lanrak. Mereka berpikir dengan membeli alat tangkap dapat menhemat waktu dan alat tangkapnya bisa langsung di operasikan, dan Nelayan Jaring Benang Perubahan pengetahuan Nelayan Jaring Benang (pajala) lebih kepada perubahan alat yang di gunakan saat operasi penangkapan ikan yang dulunya menggunakan jaring sebagai tempat penyimpanan ikan sekarang sudah beralih menggunakan ember yang di lengkapi mesin gelembung air agar ikan hidup. Kata Kunci: Klasifikasi, Transformasi Pengetahuan, Nelayan
