Abstract

Animal Park is a form of ex-situ conservation institution that functions as a forum for preserving fauna outside of their natural habitat which is public. Besides having a conservation function, the Animal Park also has recreational, educational and research functions. Animal Park Planning in Pontianak City is also a form of designation and management of protected areas that are able to pay attention to the sustainability of supporting environmental functions in Pontianak City. This article aims to explain the process of designing a Wildlife Park as a recreation and tourism center regarding the introduction of native animals of West Kalimantan. The theme or design concept that is planned is the consideration of the animal's life behavior without reducing the comfort from the visitor's side. This design provides a boundary between the end zone and the animal zone, as well as the placement of a management service zone that is separate from the visitor zone but can still be connected to each animal enclosure. In the design carried out, the enclosure for the animal habitat uses a membrane structure for primate species and a wide-span structure to form an aviary enclosure for aves species.

Abstract

Co-working is a working style that involves creative activities in a collaborative working environment and allows anyone to work, share, socialize, and discuss even if they are not in the same organization or company. The existence of co-working spaces in Pontianak City is arguably still rare, the facilities and atmosphere presented are not like co-working spaces in big cities in Indonesia and abroad. Apart from accommodating start-ups, co-working spaces in Pontianak City also need to accommodate communities in fields related to co-working space users. The provision of galleries can be a place to bring the work of users and the community to life as well as to support collaboration. The application of the concept of space that can stimulate unser behavior is expected to solve common workiplace problems.Recently, the 'creative industry' has been talked about and echoed a lot. There are four very potential subsectors, namely visual communication design, music, video animation, and architecture, most of which are young people. Today's young people tend to want to work according to their wishes without any pressure from anyone. Freelancers and young entrepreneurs are part of creative industry players who are just starting / pioneering their careers and most of them are young people.

Abstract

Massive development in almost all cities including Pontianak City has resulted in limited land. However, the demand for housing is increasing due to population growth. The residential trend is now moving into a vertical building. One of them is an apartment. Tokazhanov et al. (2020) explained that during the pandemic, 90% of cases infected with COVID-19 were in places with dense human concentrations. In Pontianak City, the Government established the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases, which requires people to completely change their activities at home. This makes it necessary to adapt housing to improve the quality of life of residents during the pandemic. The type of apartment designed is a low rise apartment that focuses on comfort and living experience. The design location is in Pontianak City, where economic growth is increasing, thus providing opportunities for people to buy better and more efficient housing. Low rise apartments can also accommodate businessmen who visit Pontianak City. The purpose of the design is to create a low rise apartment that can respond to the needs for security, health, and social interaction of residents during a pandemic. The design method uses the J. Christopher Jones method. The result of the design is a residential design in the form of a low rise apartment that can respond to changes in lifestyle and needs during the pandemic.

Abstract

Traditional architecture is an architectural form that passed down from one generation to the next. Traditional houses are formed through a long time that are responsive to the environment. The traditional houses adapt with the environment to increase their level of comfort and reduce disturbances for a comfortable living. This study aimed to identify the thermal comfort of Betang Ensaid Panjang, which is the traditional Dayak houses in Sintang Regency. Identification of the thermal comfort was done by measuring the influential thermal variables; air temperature, humidity, wind speed, the clothing insulation and the metabolism at Betang Ensaid Panjang. As a building that located in a tropical climate, an analysis of the tropical architecture theories was carried out at Betang Ensaid Panjang. The results of the analysis become the hypothesis that the building applies the principles of humid tropical architecture. Based on PMV and PPD analysis by ASHRAE 55 Standard, it can be identified that the Betang Ensaid Panjang have different levels of thermal comfort in ruai, bilik and tingkak at different times. In the morning it can be identified as slightly cool, in the afternoon and evening, can be identified as slighltly warm and at night, it can be identified as neutral or comfort.
