Abstract

Environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change are increasingly worsening. However, students' awareness and concern for the environment remain relatively low. Many students lack an understanding of the impact of human activities on nature, as learning is often theoretical and fails to connect environmental concepts with real-life experiences. Greeneration, as an innovative learning approach, utilizes the environment as a learning resource that provides students with direct experiences. This study aims to explore the impact of using Greeneration as a learning resource on students' environmental awareness, with the hope of offering relevant solutions in the current educational context. The research employs a quantitative approach with an experimental design, involving students from Kuntum Cemerlang High School in Bandung City. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire designed to measure changes in students' attitudes before and after the intervention. The findings indicate that the implementation of Greeneration significantly enhances students' environmental awareness and concern, with an average increase of 30% in environmental attitude scores after the intervention. These results are expected to contribute to the development of a more environmentally responsive curriculum and encourage the implementation of innovative learning methods that inspire students to take an active role in environmental preservation.

Abstract

Social conflicts that frequently arise in society demand a learning approach that not only emphasizes cognitive aspects but also fosters the development of students’ empathy. In the context of Social Studies (IPS) education, understanding social conflict is crucial for enabling students to respond to differences wisely. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the role-playing learning model in enhancing students’ understanding and empathy toward the topic of social conflict. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted in two cycles in Grade VIII at SMPK Sta. Maria Assumpta. Each cycle consisted of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed a significant improvement in both cognitive and affective aspects. The average student comprehension score increased from 66.3 (pre-action) to 84.7 at the end of the second cycle, while empathy scores rose from 60% to 85%. Learning through the role-playing model proved effective in encouraging critical thinking, understanding multiple perspectives in conflict, and developing students’ social sensitivity and empathy. These findings suggest that experiential learning approaches, such as role playing, are highly relevant for Social Studies education in shaping reflective and humanistic student character.

Abstract

This article discusses cultural resistance carried out by Indonesian society in facing colonial domination, especially by the Dutch, which attempted to erode local identity through various assimilation policies. With the background of colonial history, this article reviews forms of cultural resistance that are manifested in efforts to maintain language, tradition, art, and nationalist movements. Local education and traditional arts, such as wayang and gamelan, are used as effective symbolic resistance tools in raising nationalist awareness. The national movement also shows the collaboration between culture and politics as a means of resistance against colonialism. Indonesian society developed resilience strategies through cultural adaptation and negotiation, where local values are maintained despite foreign influences. This article emphasizes that cultural resistance not only maintains identity but also forms the basis of national consciousness that plays an important role in the struggle for independence.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country rich in local wisdom from various regions, inherited from ancestors who lived and endured to the present day. This study aims to explore the local wisdom values contained in the self-purification tradition at Belahan Temple in Wonosunyo Village, Gempol Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency, East Java Province, and to analyze the relationship between humans and nature in the context of this local tradition. The research method employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observations, and content analysis. The research findings reveal that the self-purification tradition is not only a series of rituals but also reflects cultural values passed down from generation to generation. The analysis of local wisdom values emerging from the self-purification tradition shows its connection to the concepts of sustainability, harmony, and respect for the natural environment. This research has significant implications for understanding the relationship between humans and nature, especially in the context of cultural sustainability and environmental preservation. The study provides new insights into how local traditions can serve as a means to enhance human awareness of the importance of preserving a harmonious relationship with nature.
