Abstract

This research study was intended to examine the effect of national culture and leadership styles of Filipino- Canadian Engineers based on Hofstede’s cultural dimensions. The purpose of this academic research is to find a leadership program that will bridge the gap of underrepresentation among the Filipino Canadian Engineers and Project Managers in Canada. The respondents of this research study are the internationally trained Filipino Engineers who are members of the Association of Filipino Canadian Engineers (AFCE). This researcher used a combination of self- made and standardized Survey Questionnaires published on Google Forms, as well as face to face interviews where permitted. The questionnaires were sent via email or social media platforms such as Messenger and LinkedIn. The data collected were then tallied, analyzed, interpreted and summarized using statistical treatment such as Mean, Pearson r correlation, Standard Deviation and Frequency. The study revealed that Filipinos has assimilated well to the Canadian Society in terms of cultural dimensions with the exemption of Collectivism. This research study also found out that there are leadership traits or skills that need to be tweaked in order for the Filipino Canadian Engineers to be a productive part of Engineering and Construction industry. This researcher identified workshops including Assertiveness training, Critical and creative thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Intercultural and interpersonal communication, and public speaking shall be introduced.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test whether the Reward and Punishment variables have an influence on Employee Work Motivation at PT. Erafone Artha Retailindo Makassar. To find out which variable has the most influence on employee motivation. The research was conducted using a survey method, where data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 55 respondents. The population in this study are all employees at PT. Erafone Artha Retaiindo Makassar, the sampling method used is saturated sample. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression equations. The results of the study show that there is an influence between rewards on employee motivation. Through the results of the calculations that have been carried out, the t value is 7.649 with a significant result of 0.000 <0.05. And the results of testing the hypothesis partially prove the effect of punishment on Employee Motivation. Through the results of the calculations that have been carried out, the t value is 4.836 with a significant result of 0.000 <0.05. This means that there is an influence between reward and punishment variables on employee motivation at PT. Erafone Artha Retailindo Makassar

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menguji pengaruh Motivasi Belajar, Kualitas Pengajaran Dosen, Kualitas Pengajaran Asistensi dan Fasilitas Belajar terhadap Prestasi Belajar Mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Pengantar Akuntansi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas Surabaya. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode kuesioner. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah menggunakan analisis regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Motivasi Belajar, Kualitas Pengajaran Dosen, Kualitas Pengajaran Asistensi dan Fasilitas Belajar berpengaruh positif terhadap Prestasi Belajar Mahasiswa baik secara parsial maupun secara bersama-sama. Ditunjukkan dengan nilai thitung secara urut yaitu sebesar 2,861; 2,153; 2,469; dan 2,636 dengan nilai siginifikan setiap variabelnya <0,05. Nilai Rhitung sebesar 0,78 dan nilai Fhitung sebesar 53,848 dengan siginifikan <0,05.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic boosted the utilization of online payment schemes or methods, which has been proven very beneficial. It kept the economy running as well as school operations. In particular, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) adopted online payment transactions to allow students to proceed with enrollment. Yet, this abrupt change directly affected the students and parents especially on the use of online payment procedures in paying tuition fees. In this study, the researcher aimed to assess the effectiveness of online payment methods based on the following criteria: cost-efficient, safety, ease of use and speed. Also, the researcher wanted to investigate if there was a significant difference between the profile of the respondents and the effectiveness of online payment methods. Using cluster sampling, 1,050 students and 1,050 parents from selected cities in National Capital Region (NCR) namely, Manila City, Quezon City, and Taguig City, were recruited. Based on the results, the profile composition of parent respondents was, they were between 41 to 50 years of age, all females, with family monthly income of P30,001 to P45,000 and P45,000 to P60,000, college graduates, and preferred to use credit card and debit card. Furthermore, student respondents were mostly at the age of 19 to 20 years old, all females, in 4th year college, and preferred to use credit card and mobile payments. As to the assessment of online payment methods, most of the respondents perceived the online payment methods in terms of cost-efficiency, safety, and ease of use to be very effective. As to the challenges and issues experienced by students and parents on online payment methods, the following were identified: unfamiliarity, disorientation, difficulty in validation and problems with online applications. As to finding the significant difference between the age of respondents and the effectiveness of online payment methods, a significant difference between age groups and cost efficient, safety, ease of use, and speed was posited. As to finding the significant difference between sex of respondents and the effectiveness of online payment method, results revealed that there was a significant difference between sex and cost efficient, ease of use and speed. However, no significant difference was found between sex and safety. This study recommends that school administrators should provide orientation to new and old students regarding the use of online payment methods. They should make online tutorials on downloading and use of online applications available since it is critical for the student and parents to adapt online payment methods. The accounting and cashier should have a clear, simple and easy to follow procedure for online payment transaction. It is highly suggested also that the accounting office lessens the days of validating the payment made by the students and they must have a system for it. The school should promote online payment transaction as it saves them resources from filing payment receipts and using facilities. In addition, the social distancing should be encouraged to avoid the spread of COVID-19 virus. This study has significant implications on the management system implemented by the higher education institution.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the regulation of bribery in the private sector in Indonesian positive law and future Indonesian criminal law formulation policies in terms of regulating bribery in the private sector. This research used normative legal research which departs from vacuum of norms with the type of approach used are statutory approach, analytical approach and legal concepts, comparative approach, and case approach. The results of the study show that basically Indonesia already has Act Number 11 of 1980, but it seems to be neglected or never been used. Although bribery in the private sector is non-mandatory, it is important for Indonesia to consider criminalizing bribery in the private sector, therefore it is necessary for legislators to form a criminal law policy by criminalizing bribery in the private sector as well as conducting comparative studies in several countries to address the gap, so the law enforcement can carry out law enforcement in accordance with the regulations governing bribery in the private sector as a form of corruption.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi saat ini baik dari segi komputer maupun informasi sangat bermanfaat bagi setiap orang dalam berbagai aspek, terutama dalam dunia kerja. Perkembangan teknologi sangat membantu bisnis perusahaan lebih cepat, mudah dan efisien. Contohnya perusahaan yang bergerak dibidang start-up seperti CV. Inovasi Karya Indonesia dimana salah satu karyanya adalah aplikasi yang baru saja dibuat yaitu aplikasi portal yang diberi nama Ourticle. Dalam membuat aplikasi, agar aplikasi dapat digunakan sesuai dengan yang diharapkan maka harus dilakukan pengujian kualitas aplikasi. Masalah yang terdapat pada CV. Inovasi Karya Indonesia yaitu pegujian kualitas aplikasi masih dilakukan secara manual sehingga sering terjadi human error, maka perlu dilakukan pengujian kualitas aplikasi secara otomatis melalui quality assurance pada aplikasi untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang terjadi pada perusahaan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif dan pengujian standar ISO-9126. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk membantu perusahaan menghindari human error dalam pengujian aplikasi. Hasil yang didapat dari pengujian kualitas aplikasi menggunakan Quality Assurance secara otomatis berdasarkan standar ISO-9126 yaitu 3 (baik), sehingga aplikasi ourticle layak digunakan tanpa ada masalah bug/error.

Abstract

Perkembangan zaman membuat masyarakat khususnya masyarakat Indonesia merasakan efek dari segala aspek dari adanya kemajuan teknologi. Maka banyak pengembang aplikasi berlomba membangun aplikasi yang dapat membantu kegiatan manusia. Pada sistem aplikasi berbasis mobile, desain merupakan hal pertama yang menarik pengguna. Oleh karenanya, jika aplikasi memiliki User Interface dan User Experience yang terintegrasi dan harmonis, maka tidak hanya membantu untuk menarik lebih banyak pengguna tetapi juga meningkatkan kepuasan pengguna. Jika desain user interface yang buruk, maka itu sering menjadi alasan pengguna untuk tidak menggunakan aplikasi tersebut. Urgensi dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai tahap untuk membangun aplikasi Ourticle berbasis android, yang akan dibuat oleh CV. Inovasi Karya Indonesia. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif, metode pengumpulan data adalah studi literatur dan internet searching, dan metode pengembangan sistem menggunakan metode waterfall. Hasil dari penelitian mendapatkan aplikasi ourticle yang memiliki desain UI yang minimalis dan UX yang membuat pengguna nyaman menggunakan aplikasi ourticle.

Abstract

Homosexuals are groups that have same sex sexual orientation (gay), different from people in general who are sexually oriented towards people of the opposite sex (heterosexual), resulting in sexual activity deviating from what it should be. The problem that will be discussed in this study is whether homosexuality is part of a crime according to Indonesian criminal law. The research method used in writing this research is a normative legal research method, because there is a norm void. Normative legal research is carried out by examining library materials by studying and reviewing legal principles and positive legal rules derived from library materials and legislation. The approaches used are the statutory approach, the concept approach and the comparative approach. Homosexuality is part of a criminal act according to Indonesian criminal law, but the regulation is still very limited because it only regulates same-sex sexual relations carried out by adults with minors. So it is necessary to criminalize or expand the criminal regulation of deviant acts committed by the gay community in the renewal of criminal law.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana strategi komunikasi fundraising yang digunakan dan diterapkan oleh Dompet Dhuafa Waspada dalam menarik minat muzakki pada masa suasana wabah covid-19. Teori yang digunakan untuk mengupas penelitian ini adalah Teori Social Marketing Campaign. Metode yang digunakan dalam oenelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah observasi langsung ke lokasi penelitian, melakukan wawancarakepada informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi komunikasi fundraising yang digunakan dua yaitu Online dan Ofline dimana strategi utama yang diunggulkan untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan kondisi adalah menggunakan strategi online sehingga berbagai hal menarik dalam strategi online di kerahkan guna menarik minat muzakki untuk ikut berpartisipasi dalam ZISWAF.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran buzzer di media sosial twitter di dalam wacana Reklamasi Pantai Utara Jakarta. Data Semiocast menunjukkan, bahwa DKI Jakarta merupakan salah satu kota didunia yang masyarakatnya paling banyak berinteraksi melalui twiiter. Kondisi ini menjadikan label buzzer sebagai opinion makers memiliki peran atas wacana kontekstual menyangkut reklamasi teluk Jakarta. Mereka menampilkan informasi yang dibungkus lewat foto atau poster digital, video dan cerita yang didesain menarik dan mudah dipahami. Penelitian ini berusaha menjawab pertanyaan (1) Bagaimana peran Buzzer dalam wacana Reklamasi Teluk Jakarta? (2) Apa dampak keterlibatan buzzer terhadap pengembangan ruang publik virtual? Penelitian ini sendiri menggunakan metode analisia kritis dari Norman Fairclough untuk melihat wacana atau isu yang ditimbulkan oleh buzzer dalam mendukung kebijakan reklamasi. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan, Pertama, buzzer menciptakan wacana bahwa kebijakan reklamasi merupakan bagian dari proyek Pengembangan Terpadu Pesisir Ibukota Negara yang merupakan proyek jangka panjang pemerintah pusat. Kedua, buzzer menginformasikan bahwa proyek reklamasi sebenarnya didukung oleh masyarakat terutama nelayan yang tinggal diwilayah ini. Agar wacana ini di terima oleh followernya, buzzer memilih untuk menonjolkan aspek advokatif yang bersifat konstruktif didalam postingannya. Temuan lainnya walaupun hadir dalam bentuk kecil ialah kepentingan politik dari Ahok sebagai seorang petahana untuk suksesi di Pilkada DKI Jakarta tahun 2017. Akhirnya dapat disimpulkan, bahwa buzzer memiliki peran sentral atas wacana menyangkut reklamasi Pantai Utara Jakarta di media sosial, tujuannya tak lain agar pesan yang disampaikannya bisa mempengaruhi kontruksi berpikir dari followernya sehingga mendukung kebijakan ini.
