Abstract

Learners can be said as individuals who are in the process of developing their attitudes, abilities, and knowledge. In the process, this development does not always reach an optimal degree, even developmental stagnation, personality problems, or behavioral deviations can occur. In this case, guidance and counseling services for students can be pursued as an effort to prevent students from developing in unexpected directions. However, the effectiveness of this effort can be realized if the service provider can identify students' needs for guidance and counseling services based on aspects of personal, social, academic, and student career competency standards. Therefore, this study aims to describe the results of the analysis of students' needs for guidance and counseling services based on these three aspects. This needs analysis has been carried out in the first year of research. The research method used is a quantitative research approach with a descriptive-analytic method. This research was conducted in two cities and two districts in West Java Province (Bandung City, Bandung Regency, Cimahi City, and West Bandung Regency). The research population was all students from class VII to class XII. The research subjects involved included experts, practitioners, and junior and senior high school students.

Abstract

The continuous development of the world demands skill abilities in its human resources both in educational, economic, and artistic jurisdictions. Creative thinking skills are one of the important skills to have and develop to survive and compete in the 21st century. Creative thinking skills are known as the ability to understand gaps or obstacles in life, the ability to adapt creatively, and the ability to solve problems creatively needed in the 21st century. The purpose of this paper is to develop a tool for assessing youth's creative thinking skills which are used to measure the creative attitudes of high school-aged youth. Based on the analysis of the relevant literature, this study developed 48 items that were intended to reflect the creative thinking skills of adolescents based on a creative personality perspective. The samples taken were 135 adolescents aged 15-20 years in the city of Bandung. Item validity and scale reliability were measured using the Rasch modeling. The results showed that 1) the Cronbach Alpha score was 0.88 in the very good category, 2) the item reliability coefficient was 1.00 in the special category, and 3) the person reliability coefficient was 0.87 in the good category, which means that adolescents respond consistently to each item. Based on the results of the Rasch modeling analysis, this paper maintains 46 valid items while 2 other items are invalid.

Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing academic performance, specifically in the context of English language proficiency, among students in Nigeria. The importance of English language proficiency in the Nigerian education system is highlighted, as it serves as the medium of instruction and the language of textbooks. Despite its significance, students' performance in written and spoken English is generally poor. The study emphasizes the role of various factors, including student-related factors (interest, motivation, study habits), teacher-related factors (teaching methods, experience, workload), and parental involvement in students' academic performance. Parental involvement is seen as crucial in shaping children's educational and environmental transformation, with active participation from parents positively impacting children's development, behavior, motivation, and academic performance. The study also recognizes the influence of the school environment on academic performance, emphasizing the need for a conducive learning environment with adequate resources and support services. The findings suggest that parental involvement and a supportive school environment contribute to improved academic performance. Overall, this study underscores the importance of addressing these factors to enhance students' English language proficiency and academic achievement in Nigeria.

Abstract

This study investigated the influence of online and physical classrooms on student academic performance. The descriptive research of the survey type was employed for the target population for the study consisting of 200 students in five randomly selected faculties at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. The findings of this study were that both online and physical learning positively influenced students’ academic performance; students faced challenges while learning both physically and virtually; students engaged online performed better than those engaged physically with a mean difference of 2.38; there was a significant difference between the academic performance of students taught in an online classroom based on faculty; and there was no significant difference between the academic performance of students taught in an online class based on gender. It was concluded that physical and online education have many things in common. Students must still turn in assignments, participate in class, understand the content, and finish group projects. Teachers still need to create lesson plans, improve the quality of their teaching, respond to students' queries in class, encourage learning, and grade assignments.

Abstract

Nobody doubts the inefficiency and inadequacy of the modern system of higher education management, but the proposed approaches to its modernization are extremely ambiguous. Our solution to this important problem is rather original and unique. The system of management in the field of higher education can be attributed more to a centralized model with certain sprouts, which form the transition to a decentralized form. To speed up this process, we consider it necessary to form more perfect control systems based on network communications. We tried to identify the modernization drivers of the management system of higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, thus we selected three higher education institutions. 600 students, lecturers, and leaders in total were involved in the research observation. The result of the empirical research demonstrated a slight growth in quality assurance and knowledge management in the teaching-learning process and research affairs of the universities, however, there are still many areas yet to get covered or ill equipped.

Abstract

This study endeavors to understand the resiliency of Filipino mothers working as domestic helpers outside the country outlining their challenges and coping strategies and helped in understanding substantially the challenges and managing systems of migrant working mothers in keeping harmonious relationships with their families in terms of (a) parenting with children (b) marital responsibilities to partners (c) financial obligations. The study revealed overarching themes on challenges such as long-distance parenting, maternal separation anxiety, dissatisfied marital duties, and financial stress. In coping with these challenges, strategies like frequent computer-mediated communication, hope, and optimism, openness in communication with partners, and perseverance to work were all perceived as mediating strategies to cope with the challenges posed by separation due to working abroad among the informants. Premised on the totality of the findings, we recommend that our government agencies look into the possibility of supporting our Overseas Filipino Working mothers by granting them free quality gadgets with high internet access and the unrestricted use of technologies while working abroad to maintain uninterrupted communication with their families in the Philippines. With this, the supposed expenses for purchasing high-end gadgets and the internet would be added to the financial obligations that they usually send to the Philippines for support.
