Abstract

Plant diseases caused by bacteria will decrease the production of Aloe vera var. barbadensis. Bacteria that infect the leaves of Aloe vera can be recognized by symptoms on plants that the leaves become soft rot and dry rot. This study aims to determine the density of bacterial colonies, colony morphology and the morphology of bacterial cells of healthy leaves and leaves of symptomatic illness. The method used is the Total Plate Count (TPC). The results showed that most bacteria found in the leaves of symptomatic illness that 7 isolates soft rot and bacterial colony density that is 237 X 10-7cfu/g. Bacteria were recovered from healthy and symptomatic illness leaves are 16 isolates, that showed characteristic colony circumference shape, curved, long, flat elevation, convex, flat, flat edges, uneven and curved, while the morphology of bacterial cells are coccus, bacillus and spirilum.

Abstract

Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Mill.) can be regenerated using in vitro to get identical plants as their mother plants by adding bean sprout extract and BAP. This research work aimed to investigate the effect of bean sprout extract and BAP on growth of Aloe vera’s roots. This research was conducted from December 2016 to January 2017 at tissue culture laboratory of Aloe centre Pontianak. The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with two treatments. The firs factor, bean sprout extract (0%, 12,5%, 15%) and the second factor BAP (0 M, 10-6 M, 10-7M) were apllicated. The bean sprout extract and BAP treatment and their interaction enhanced growth of shoots, leaves, and roots contents. Concentration of 12,5% of bean sprout + 10-7 of BAP was 1,67 shoot, concentration of 12,5% of bean sprout + 10-7 of BAP was 2,67 leavesand concentration of 12,5% of bean sprout + 10-7 of BAP was 2 roots.

Abstract

Landak regency has potensial natural resources as food sources. The research work aimed to find out types of food planst, food processing, and parts of food planst consumed by Dayak Kanayatn in Pak Mayam village, Ngabang district, Landak regency. The study was conducted from July to September 2016 in Pak Mayam village and Biologi laboratory of Mathematics and Natural Science faculty of Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak. The research work employed purposive sampling methodology. The result of the research suggested that there are 43 kinds of plants of 26 families consumed as food. The most plant family consumed are Poaceae and Myrtaceae by 9,3%. Part of plants that is eaten is the fruit by 58%. The use of plants consists of five 5 categories; namely vegetables, fruits, spices, root vegetables, and cereal grain. Food plands are prepared without processing by being eaten directly and with processing by boiling, frying, smashing, stir frying, and baking them.

Abstract

Ants as insects occupy various habitats and ecological niches. Universitas Tanjungpura is an area with variable vegetation physiognomies that has the potential to have a lot of ant microhabitat. This study aims to determine the most effective method for collecting arboreal ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) found in the campus area of Universitas Tanjungpura. The study was conducted from August 2018 to February 2019 at ten locations  based on their environmental condition. Ants were collected in three different methods: hand collecting, bait traps, and yellow pan traps. There were 39 species of Formicidae collectedfromall locations. These results were obtained by hand collecting (32 species), bait traps (32 species), and yellow pan traps (4 species). Hand collecting and bait traps are the most effective method for collecting arboreal ants in Universitas Tanjungpura.

Abstract

Bittervine (Mikania micrantha) is a kind of weed containing allelochemical compounds which can supressgrowth of plants nearby, so that Bittervine can potentially be used as bioherbicide. This research aims to testthe potentiality and effective concentration of M. micrantha leaves extract in inhibiting seeds germination and supressing growth of Blue tongue (Melastoma affine) weeds. This research was conducted at Biology Laboratory, Chemistry Laboratory and Green house facility of Math and Science Faculty of Tanjungpura University from May to September 2014. Completely Randomized Design was used in this research with extract concentration at 0 (g/ml), 0,17 (g/ml), 0,43 (g/ml), 0,82 (g/ml) and 1,5 (g/ml), each with three duplications. The result shows that the leaves extract of M. micrantha can inhibit seeds germination and supress the growth of M. affine weeds. The extract effective concentration that can lower the germinationpercentage and sprout length of M. affine was at 0,43 (g/ml). The extract effective concentration that can supress the growth of M.affine encompassing plant height, wet weight and dry weight was at 0,17 (g/ml).

Abstract

Carbon stock is carbon content strored either on the ground surface serving as plant biomass or in the ground functioning as soil organic matter. One of the area which can potentially absorb a large amount of carbon is traditional rubber agroforestry. This research aims at identifying biomass an carbon stock stored in the research site. The research was conducted for three mounths, starting from March to July 2017 in Nanga Pemubuh village. The identification of plant types was carried out in the biology lab of Mathematic and Natural Science Faculty, Tanjungpura University. To measure biomass and carbon stock, the research employed a transect method on tree stands with diameters more than 25 cm. Results revealed that the rate of density obtained in this research was about 6.5-46 trees/ha. After that, the biomass gathered was about 42.79 - 222.43 ton/ha and the stock ranged around 21.39 - 111.22 ton/ha.

Abstract

Bacterial phosphate solvent is bacteria that have role in enrichment of soil. Origin material and formation ofpeat soil have correlation with the maturity and the level of fertility of peat soil. The recent research aimed to find out genus and density of bacterial phosphate solvent at the level of maturity of different peat soil in protected forest areas of Ambawang Mountain in District of Teluk Pakedai, Kubu Raya Regency. The isolation of bacterial was conducted by using the media of pikovskaya and pour plate method, whereas bacterial density calculation was done by total plate count method. The research finding showed that there were five genera of bacterial phosphate solvent, namely; Acinetobacter, Chromobacterium, Flavobacterium, Micrococcus, and Stapylococcus. There was no different of the total density of bacterial colonies phosphatesolvent in fibric, hemic, and sapric.

Abstract

The majority of Ascomycetes is microscopic fungi while only a few are macroscopic ones. Microscopic Ascomycetes function as the decomposer in a forest ecosystem. This study aims to investigate types of Ascomycetes which grow in Bayur Forest, the Regency of Landak, West Borneo. This study has been conducted for four months from March to June 2017. The sample was taken by using Cruise Method. Ascomycetes were identified by matching morphological characteristics of the specimens with the identification book. The collected specimens then were made into wet and dry herbarium. The study shows that Ascomycetes have two Orders. They are Pezizales and Xylariales Orders. Moreover, they comprise three families namely Pyronemataceae, Sarcoscyphaceae and Xylariaceae and consist of six species of Ascomycetes. In addition, Ascomycetes found in Bayur Forest grow mostly on the substrate originated from dead trees.

Index of Diversity (H') of butterfly was founded ranged between 1.1602 - 2.1661 with average of diversity 1.7051. Index of equity (E) ranged between 0.4184 – 0.7813 with average 0.6104 that’s shows level of high equity. Index of Dominance (D) ranged between 0.1328-0.4297 with the average 0.2509 that shows there is no type of butterflies that dominates on site research.
