This study aims to describe the community perceptions towards mangrove forest and to analyze the correlation that affects community perceptions in Setapuk Besar village towards the level of knowledge, dependence, and cosmopolitanism. The technique of sampling employed in this study is purposive sampling. Based on Slovin formula, a total sample of 74 respondents was obtained. The frequency of community perceptions in Setapuk Besar village on the existence of mangrove forest are: 67 respondents (90.5%) had positive perceptions, 6 respondents (8.1%) had neutral perceptions, and 1 respondent (1.4%) had negative perception. From the results of Kendall tau-b test, the value of Sig 0.000 < 0.01 and Sig 0.028 < 0.05, which indicates that there is a significant correlation between community perceptions with the level of dependence positive correlation (0.419), the correlation strength is moderate. Cosmopolitan level positive correlation (0.190), the correlation strength is low.  While the value of Sig 0.170 > 0.05, which indicates that there is no significant correlation between community perceptions and the level of knowledge positive correlation coefficient (0.119), the correlation strength is low. Keywords: Community perceptions, mangrove forest, Respondents, Setapuk Besar

Abstract

Identification is determining the identity of a species, which in this case determines the correct name and place in the classification. Tembawang Forest is a form of land management carried out by Dayak tribes in West Kalimantan. Tembawang Suak has various fruit trees species which are usually used by people around the forest. This research was conducted in Tembawang Forest at Suak Subvillage, Manis Raya Village, Sepauk District, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the morphological characteristics of fruits trees species in the Tembawang Forest Area. The method in this research is an exploration method which is carried out by taking data with making pathways to facilitate roaming at the research location to find the fruit trees species and then taking a sample of the herbarium. Data analysis by describing morphological characteristics (generative and vegetative) in detail. Based on the research results, there are 30 species of consumption fruit trees that are classified into 16 genera and 13 families, and 5 species of which are endemic to Kalimantan, namely Manginfera pajang Kosterm (Asam Mawang), Shorea stenoptera Burck. (Tengkawang Tungkul), Durio kutejensis (Hassk.) Becc. (Pekawai), Sarcotheca macrophylla Blume (Rembai/Belimbing Hutan), and Baccaurea angulata Merr (Menit/Belimbing Darah).Keyword : Tree Identification, Fruit Producers, Tembawang Forest

Abstract

Land degradation will result in widespread land damage, especially damage to forest land. Changes in land use from permanent vegetation to intensive agricultural land make the soil more easily eroded. One of the determining factors of erosion is soil erosion and soil cover vegetation. Soil erodiability is the average amount of soil lost each year per unit of the index, while the land cover is useful to protect the soil from the threat of damage by erosion and improve soil conditions. The research area located in Silat Hilir Sub-District of Kapuas Hulu Regency is a strategic area of the district from the point of economic importance. The Upper Kapuas Statistics Agency says there is a change in land use from year to year. The changes occurred not only in the increase in land use but also on changes in land use. The purpose and benefit of this research are to know the class of soil erodiability as well as to provide information on the class of land erodiability in The New Village of Silat Hilir District of Kapuas Hulu Regency. The value of soil erodiability is calculated using the Wischmeier and Smith formulas (1978) and determined based on the overlay of two maps, namely the land type map and the land cover map. Soil erodibility on various land cover in Silat Hilir Sub-District of Kapuas Hulu sub-district consists of 4 classes of land erodiability, among others: class 1 (very low), class 2 (low), class 4 (somewhat high), and class 5 (high). Keywords: Erodibility, Land Cover, Soil
