Abstract

This study aims to obtain information about the succession levels of natural vegetation on ex – community gold mining in Monterado. The method of this research was survey method through vegetation analysis by double plot size 20 m x 20 m. Placement of plots dileberately based on the tailing period of ex – community gold mining which were : < 1 year, 2-3 years, 5-7 years, and > 10 years. The result showed that kinds of shrub found in all age level of ex – community gold mining area. The type of woody plants at the seedling found in all period of ex – community gold mining area, whereas sapling, pole and tree only found in ex – community gold mining at age level > 10 years. Based on the vegetation analysis, it showed that Ischaemum rugosum and Melastoma malabathricum L. dominanted at all age level of ex – community gold mining. Seedling in the ex – community gold mining at all age level were dominanted by Dillenia suffruticus. The index of species diversity showed that it was still low on ex – community gold mining in Monterado.Until the age of tailing > 10 years, succession was still in the level of competition, so it was concluded to be slow. To accelerate succession, revegetation, land restoration, and people awareness should be undertaken.Keyword : Gold mining, Monterado Sub district, Succession.

Abstract

There are the variability of peat swamp forest, one of there domination is Gonystylus bancanus (Miq.) Kurz). Ramin is as one type of constituent of the forest, Ambawang kecil. Currently, its existence endangered due to illegal logging. This research aimed to obtain information about ramin at each level of growth(The number of individuals in the form of availability, level of dominance, and the density of ramin at each level of growth). That information may be the initially to determine the appropiate of silviculture treatment.  This research used  the line terraced method, with a width of 20 m, the length of each line 200 m as much as 8 lines, the line spacing of 100 m, and the direction of the scratch line 109 ⁰ 18 ' 55.99 ' ' E. Determination of the initial purposive sampling done on line, based on the consideration of the information field that that location pretty much there is vegetation ramin, the characteristics of the soil with peat moss in marshy waterlogged conditions.  The results of recearch showed that ramin is dominant in seedlings and saplings of growth level (INP=44,65%, 82,96% respectively). Syzygium sp is dominant in poles of growth level (INP=73,60%) and koompassia malacensis is dominant in tree of growth level (=53,78%). Viewed from its density, ramin have  fewer number of individuals seedling of growth level (2500/btg/ha) more density mainly for tre of growth level (0,31 btg/ha). Abstract

Jabon  that is known  as  Anthocephalus cadamba, is one species of species and that has high prospects for industrial tree plantations because growth is very fast and has the ability to adapt onvarious site conditions. Jabon to improve the growth of jabon that can grow succesfully, so this plant need help to be introduced by  biological agents one of which is the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. The purpose of this study was to known study 1  The number of spores and genus AMF associated with jabon, level of association that occur between the AMF with jabon age of 1, 1½ and 2years. Research was carried out for 2 months, starting with the taking of 3 samples jabon age of 1, 1½ and 2 years randomized rural in village Semberang districts Sambas Counties Sambas West Kalimantan. Observation of soil and root samples was carried out in the laboratory of Faculty of Forestry Silviculture Uvinersity Tanjungpura. This  method of isolate spores was been trough a gradual process of wet screening on the ground, them it the coloring on the roots and determine the characteristics of the spores to the genus level and calculate the percentage of infected root AMF. The results of this study were found 6 genus Glomus ang 1 genus Gigaspora and the rage percentage of root infection was 60 % (high) – 97 % (very high) included in the classifications of root infection grades 4 and 5. Abstract

Sambas Botanical Garden is a conservation forest area that has a high diversity of flora and one of them is the Kantong Semar (Nepenthes spp). Research aims; (1) conducting a study of the species diversity of Kantong Semar (Nepenthes spp) in shrubs and open areas in the Sambas Botanical Garden, (2) Study to changes in the composition of Kantong Semar species (Nepenthes spp) in Sambas Botanical Garden, (3) determining species composition and dominant of kantong semar (Nepenthes spp) that grows in shrubs and open areas. This research was conducted by a survey method in which the laying of observation plots by purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that the species diversity of Kantong Semar (Nepenthes spp) in the Sambas Botanical Garden was a low category with a value of 0.254 in shrubs and an open area of 0.01756. There was a change in the composition of the Kantong Semar species after two years of previous research. The change occurred where two new species of N. xneglecta and N.gracilis Korth that grown in Sambas Botanical Garden. Based on the results of morphological analysis, we found as many as 5 species of Kantong Semar consisting of N. mirabilis (Lour) Druce, N.gracilis Korth, N.ampullaria Jack, N. xneglecta, N. xhookeriana, which grow in shrubs, and N. mirabilis (Lour) in open area. The results of the analysis of the Importance Value Index (INP) that dominant species are N.ampullaria Jack with a value of 107.02 and N. xhookeriana 33.32 where both species of Kantong Semar grown in the shrub area. Keywords: Kantong semar (Nepenthes spp), shrubs and open area, Species diversity.

Plants producing forest fruits is one of the natural resources that has an important role of forest communities the suply, including the kind of fruit that has been used by people around the forest for food and other necessities . This study aims is to determine the diversity of fruits -producing trees that can be consumed by the forest around the District Nature Forest Kantuk Sub District Sepauk District Sintang . The method used is the method of combination of method and line method checkered path. 4 lines of observation , length 500 m , width of lanes and 20 x 20 m , 200 m spacing between lines . Observation plots measuring 10 x 10 m for poles and 20 x 20 m for tree level . The results found that the overall number of poles 57 vegetation types and levels of 58 types of trees . Fruit -producing trees for poles 21 forest types and levels of 19 species of trees The highest of Important Value Index (IVI) of overall vegetation at level poles and tree is derived from Purang (Macaraga sp) and Perepat (Sonneratia alba JB Sn) respectively are 28.7218%; 45.8161%. While the highest of Important Value Indeks (IVI) for Fruits producing free at poles and tree is derived from Tengkawang (Shorea sp) that are 69.5018; 100.9681%. and for fruit tree in poles and tree level are 0.8987 and 0.8464. Abstract

Barbourula kalimantanensis is the only frog in Indonesian that has no lungs and only founded in Kalimantan. This study aims to study microhabitat of the lungless frog at Resot Belaban in Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park. The method of data collection was done by using Visual Encounter Survey (VES) combining with of tracking systems. The data are taken in 4 observations stations: Ella river 0, Ella river 1, Ella river 2, and Belaban river with tree time repeatly in each station. Based on the result, B.kalimantanensis was found only one specimen in Ella river. The microhabitat of Barbourula kalimantanensis consisted of range air temperature 25˚c – 30˚C, humidity 73% - 95%,  water temperature at night ranges from 13º - 14ºC and in the noon 16˚c with a water pH approaching 6.50. The intensity of light entering a location with a large enough amount 125.4 Cd. Dissolved oxygen 7.10 with dissolved solids 7.53 and non-dissolved solids 9. Analysis of water from the four rivers shows that the water in Ella river 0 and Belaban river have pH of water is close to netral pH (7), normal water temperature (27ºC), and the content of dissolved solids and undissolved solids in it. These indicate that the water from both rivers is suitable for humn consumption. The small fish and insect larvae who lived in the river are become a potential prey for B. kalimantanensis.
