Abstract

The folktale of Kasuari dan Burung Pipit is well-known in Sentani, Papua. As a  valuable  literature  for  Sentani people,  it  is  necessary  to  study  and  analyze  the message  of  the  folktale.  This is a qualitative research applying the descriptive method. The analysis uses a message transaction modus based on the theory of the semiotics of Roland Bhartes. The data of this research is the story of Kasuari dan Burung Pipit. The data was submitted by observation (through recordings and note-taking) and interviews. The result shows, based on the analysis, that the message transaction modus of the story includes 1)  the  proairetic  code;  2)  the heurmeuneutic code; 3) the code of semes or signifiers; 4) the symbolic code; and 5) the culture code.

Abstract

This research aims to know genetic relationship of languages in north area of Jayapura regency, Papua province. Comparative historical theory with quantitative method are used to analyze the languages relationship. The result of analysis shows that eight languages in north area of Jayapura regency do not belong to the same language group. Tevera Pew (Te), Tabla (Ta), Yokari (Yo), and Sentani (St) languages form their own language group as 40,45% cognate words similarity with the name of Tevera Pew-Tabla-Yokari-Sentani. Languages of Tevera Pew-Tabla-Yokari-Sentani derived from Tevera Pew-Tabla-Yokari-Sentani proto. This proto then split to four languages as we found right now. Demta language (De) proven to be out part Tevera Pew-Tabla-Yokari-Sentani language family. Mooi (Mo) and Gresi (Gr) create their own language family with 52,26% similarity of cognate words. Meanwhile, Ormu (Or) and Tarpia (Ta) languages are not belong to any language stock. Ormu (Or) and Tarpia (Ta) only have 9, 28% similarity cognate words. That’s why they do not belong to one language stock.

Abstract

This paper is qualitative that objectively describing about character education in Papua oral tradition. The methods used informal by verbal arranged systematically. The source of the data was the munaba tradition in Waropen tribe, Tobati folktale and Teminabuan folktale. The data were collected through documentation technique and analyzed descriptively.Generally, this paper aims to publishing and to conserving Papua oral tradition. Spesifically is to deciperated of Papua oral tradition education value that can vavor of the government program to the local society character education. The benefit are in order to change the behavior and mindset that incompatible leads to the character development that is suitable with the nation civilitation.

Abstract

This paper aims to reveal the nature of science that comes from forensic linguistics, namely the realm of interdisciplinary sciences of language, crime, and law. In it the law, including law enforcement, judicial matters, regulations, disputes or legal proceedings, and even disputes only potentially involve some violation of law or the need to seek some mode of legal remedy.The fact today illustrates that forensic linguistics has common characteristics that allow can be aligned into the practices of linguistic and discourse analytical others namely: (1) has a parameter forensic (legal and criminal) on linguistics, (2) as a surgical instrument used in hacking the relationship between language, law, and criminal, (3) a study of the language of the texts of laws, (4) media dismantle pragmatism legal language, (5) exposing the evil language, and (6) into a pillar of reconciliation between disputing parties law.Forensic linguistics can position the language, crime and law through interdisciplinary perspective as a vital part of human faced throughout his life. Paradigm evidentiary forensic linguistics implies granting absolute certainty for each person based on logic and observations obtained from the value sense and reasonableness. Forensic linguistics can be explored above, namely (1) the general characteristics, (2) the area of research, (3) the basic principle, (4) the mechanism of action, and (5) review the facts forensic linguistics.

Abstract

Nyanyian Angsa by W.S. Rendra is an example of humanist literature that tells about dehumanization in the country. Nyanyian Angsa is one of Rendra's best works from a number of human-themed works. The appearance of the profession of priests, doctors, procures representing the ruling group, superiors with subordinates, congregations, patients, and prostitutes (Maria Zaitun) as objects or ordinate is only an example that humanity problems commonly experienced by common people. This paper aims to illustrate the humanitarian problem (dehumanization) contained in the Nyanyian Angsa and express humanization thinking as a preventive measure.Reference theory is humanism and hermeneutics. Dehumanization in Nyanyian Angsa is represented by injustice, tolerance, disrespect and appreciate, and have not compassion. In general, the value of humanization to be conveyed through this poem is to be able to humanize others, first, we should be able to humanize ourselves. Another value is the materialistic orientation of life that can enrich dehumanization and weaken or even drown human values (humanization).

Abstract

The article aimed at investigating and mapping the semantic structures and roles of English verb belonging to the concept of cutting. The data were collected from both English articles and videos by combining comprehending and note taking methods. The collected data were analyzed by applying the Theory of Natural Semantic Metalanguage and Semantic Macro Role. The results showed that there were 11 lexicons (slice, mince, dice, julienne, chiffonade, fillet, trim, clip, snip, mow, and hew) reffering to the cutting concept, which were varied based on the aim, the instrument, the method, the entity and the result of which the cutting concept was implemented. Further, English cutting verb was uncovered to merge some arguments which were agent, patient, theme, instrument, benefactive, source, time, and location.

Abstract

Java Suroboyoan has unique dialect than Java Standard. The unique dialect makes Java Suroboyoan also has the unique in conjunction. The research is to makes description the several kinds of conjunctions in Java Suroboyoan and the function of conjunction in the daily activities. The method of the research is interview and the text book. The research is analyzed with descriptions and classification technique. The techniques classify the certain contruction elements sentences. The result of the research refers that conjunction in the Java Suroboyoan can be classified as 3 conjunction koordinatif and the 11 subordinatif conjunction.

Abstract

The novel that raised or talked about the life of the Dayak’s people either as the background of the story or the main problem can be said is still a bit in the literary world of Indonesia. This study analyzed a novel which is based on the life of Dayak Meratus’s people of South Kalimantan titled Lampau by Sandi Firly. The focus of analysis in this research is the sociological aspects of the novel Lampau. In accordance with the problems and objectives of the study, the theoretical framework used in this research is the sociology of literature, especially sociology of literature that focuses on social issues in literary works. Based on the analysis of sociology of literature that has been done can be described four aspects of sociology in the novel that is the position and function of Balian in Meratus Dayak life, social gap of Meratus Dayak community, pesantren as an alternative social migration, and culture wander.

Abstract

This study discussed about the phonemes distribution of Mor language. Mor language is one of the regional languages in Province of Papua that spoken by the community in the Moora Islands District, Nabire Regency. This research used descriptive method with three stages, namely data supply, data analysis, and presentation of data analysis result. Data analysis is performed after the data is classified. The analysis applied using the distribution method. The result of study showed that Mor language has 23 segmental phonemes consisting of sixteen consonants and seven vowel phonemes. The phonemes, namely/p/, /B/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /j/, /m/, /n/, /s/, /r/, /h/, /G/, /?/, /y/, /w/, /a/, /i/, /u/, /e/, /|/, /O/, and /E/. The phonemes of Mor language in the word are partially distributed complete and some are incompletely distributed. Phoneme/p/, /t/, /m/, /n/, /i/, /u/, /e/, /O/, /E/, and /a/ are complete distributed consonant. It means, those phonemes occupy all position in the word. The phonemes /B/, /k/, /g/, /j/, /s/, /r/, /h/, and /w/ are phonemes distributed only at the beginning and middle of words. The phonemes /?/, /G/, and /y/ are phonemes which distributed in the middle and the end of the words, while the phonemes /d/ and /|/ are phonemes distributed only at the middle of the words.

Abstract

Kanum Sota Language is one of the regional languages contained in Papua Province with a small number of speakers. Kanum Sota language is spoken by the community of Kampung Sota, Merauke Regency, located in the border area of Indonesia with Papua New Guinea. This research is a field research. The data collection of this research using the method of conversation that is to do conversation with speakers as resource persons with the provocative technique as basic technique and face to face technique, and note technique as the next technique. This study was conducted to describe the pronouns of Kanum Sota language. Kanum Sota language recognizes three kinds of pronouns, namely (1) personal pronoun, (2) demonstrative pronoun, and (3) interrogative pronoun.
