Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the discovery learning model on short story learning outcomes. The method used in this study is the Quasi Experimental Design Method using the Posttest Only Control Group Design where there is an experimental class with the Discovery Learning learning model and a control class with a direct learning model, which is then given a Posttest to determine student learning outcomes after being given different treatments. . The target of this research is students of class XI Religion and XI Social academic year 2021/2022. From the research results obtained, it shows that: (1) Student learning outcomes with the Discovery Learning learning model are higher than student learning outcomes than using the conventional direct learning model with the acquisition of t-test namely tcount 23.917 > ttable 2.056 and with details of the average value the experimental class average was 87.96 and the control class average was 51.30. (2) The test results indicate that there are significant differences in results. It can be concluded that the application of the Discovery Learning learning model can increase the interest and learning outcomes of class XI MA Nusantara Arjawinangun students. Abstract

Drama as a genre of literature, has its own characteristics compared to other genres, namely poetry and fiction. Drama is unique from the point of view of using language and conveying its message and useful values ??for its readers. However, often the delivery of messages and values ??through character conversations is often not caught by the reader because dialogue in drama often uses connotative words that have ambiguity or indirectness of expression. The presentation of language in drama literary works is in the form of using behavioral instructions that describe the atmosphere and using the dialogue of the characters. In terms of message content, the playwright tells human life with its various problems. This study discusses the values ??of life that exist in the drama script "Raising the Si Sarto Flag in the Homeyard" by Rodli TL. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The approach used is a pragmatic approach. The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze, and identify pragmatic values, including moral values, social values, cultural values, and nationalism values ??in drama scripts. Abstract

Language is not only a set of languages, but also serves a social function. Sapir in Lyons (1982: 3) says that language is used by humans to communicate, express emotions and desires through various symbols. While Wardhaugh added that language is an arbitrary system which basically has a function as a tool for communicating. This study aims to determine code mixing in the novel language. This type of research method used is qualitative research. The method used is descriptive method, which is a research method that describes data starting from the data collection stage, data compilation, accompanied by data analysis and interpretation. In this study, the type of data analyzed using written data. The data source in this study is a novel entitled Negeri Lima Menara by A. Fuadi. Data was collected by examining data from data sources using the basic method of observation, namely by observing the form of code mixing contained in the novel in the form of sentences and followed by the method of recording data from previously observed data. Then the researcher analyzes the form of code mixing contained in the novel and concludes the results obtained. Based on the results of the analysis of the collected data, it was concluded that the incident of mixing the Minang language code into Indonesian, Javanese into Surabaya dialect into Indonesian, Sundanese into Indonesian, Arabic into Indonesian, and English into Indonesian. The sociolinguistic meaning contained in the Negeri Lima Menara novel is the meaning of intimacy and is related to kinship culture in communicating in a multilingual society which is often used in communicating within family, friends, and Islamic boarding schools. Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of moral values depicted by the behavior of the characters in the novel Tirani Dedaunan by Chairul Al-Attar and how the suggestions for its application in literature learning in high school. This type of research is descriptive qualitative by utilizing a literary religious approach. The data used are in the form of sentences or quotations that identify elements of religiosity in the form of moral values. The data source used is the novel Tirani Dedaunan by Chairul Al-Attar. Data collection techniques use reading techniques and note-taking techniques. The researcher used theoretical triangulation technique in the data validity technique. Data analysis was carried out based on four stages, namely data organization, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The result of this study is that there are four forms of moral values found in the novel Tirani Dedaunan by Chairul Al-Attar, such as morals towards God, morals towards oneself, morals towards family, and morals towards society. These moral values can be implemented in literature learning based on KD 3.14 and 4.14 of the 2013 edition of the curriculum in 2018.Keywords: morals, novel, literature learning

Abstract

This study aims to fight for women's rights where the actions in it no longer respect the presence of women at that time. The story takes place in the novel Perempuan Di Titik Zero by Nawal El-Sa'adawi. Apart from that, the aim of this study is to identify the image of women in the novel. In order to achieve the above targets, this study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Based on the results of the analysis, researchers found that the injustice that occurred to the main character of this novel occurred before marriage, during marriage and after marriage. These forms of injustice are all behavior that can cause pain, suffering, especially to women, whether in the form of physical, mental or sexual neglect, including threats, coercion or deprivation of liberty. The results of this study are very useful in making everyone aware that women are the same, have rights that must be fulfilled, must be respected and not looked down upon. Abstract

This research aims to determine the psychological journey of the main character in the short story collection People of Bloomington in the short story Keluarga M by Budi Darma, by applying Freud's literary psychology approach. The character investigated is "I" as the central character in the story, who is faced with quite complex internal and external conflicts with the people around him. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The theory of inner conflict and personality structure, namely in the form of Id, Ego, Superego then produces a basis for interpreting the actions and emotional reactions of characters to situations and other characters in the story. In short, this research shows that the personality aspect in the form of ego can dominate all of an individual's behavior and actions. The research results show that Freud's theory provides insight into understanding the complexity of individual psychology, especially the main character in the story. Abstract

This research examines the exploration of Javanese cultural values in the story collection Tales of the Land of Java 'Jagat Lesoft' by Mada Zidan (Mbah KJ) and Bonaventura D. Genta. The approach used is a literary anthropology approach and a mythopoic approach. The method used in this research uses hermeneutics. The data taken in this research is in the form of text quotations which contain Javanese cultural values and the data source which is the subject of this research was obtained by researchers from the collection of Javanese Land Stories 'Jagat Lesoft' by Mada Zidan (Mbah KJ) and Bonaventura D. Genta. The data collection technique used is using library techniques, listening and taking notes. The data validity technique used in this research uses triangulation techniques. Data analysis techniques in this research include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, Javanese cultural values such as belief values: taboos, belief values: worship rituals, spiritual values, belief values: in God, belief values: in supernatural knowledge, belief values: in supernatural figures, obedience values , tolerance values, religious values, moral values and commendable morals. The Javanese cultural values that dominate in this research are cultural values related to trust. It seems that this story has a strong spirit about the beliefs of Javanese society. This form of belief has an important role as a form of maintaining local wisdom which is the identity of Javanese society. Thus, the important message in this research is that it can contribute to strengthening the identity of Javanese society.Keywords: values, Javanese culture, anthropology, mythology, story of the land of Java

Abstract

This research aims to describe the forms of ecological criticism in the poetry collection Selepas Musim Menjauh by Ahmad Sultoni. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research with a literary ecology approach. This research data is in the form of words, sentences, phrases, or paragraphs that contain a form of ecological criticism. The data collection technique used in this research is the reading and note taking technique. The findings in this research show five forms of ecological criticism in the poetry collection book Selepas Musim Menjauh by Ahmad Sultoni, including: (1) criticism of land conversion, (2) criticism of environmental pollution, (3) criticism of climate change, (4) criticism of natural use, and (5) criticism of natural disasters. In this research, critical data on climate change is the most dominant. There are several titles that contain criticism of climate change, including: (a) Hari yang Tak Bermusim, (b) Kampung Halaman, (c) Suara Burung yang Murung, (d) Berjalan ke Barat Kembali ke Timur, (e) Desa-desa yang Tak Lagi Berkisah, (f) Tempat yang Dirahasiakan, and (g) Kamus Baru. Through ecological criticism it can be seen that the poet has sensitivity to environmental problems that arise around the poet. This can make readers aware that there are many environmental problems around the reader. It is hoped that readers can maintain the balance of nature, use nature wisely, and preserve nature for life in the future.Key words: ecological criticism, poetry, literature

Abstract

This research was motivated by the researcher's discovery that the mother character experienced a lot of inner conflict, which caused her mental disturbance. Inner conflict can be derived from the problems experienced by the mother character with other characters which ultimately have an impact on the way the mother character thinks and acts. The aim of this research is to explore the inner conflict of the mother character in the novel Ibuku (Not) Gila by Anggie D. Widowati from the perspective of Kurt Lewin's psychoanalysis. This research is a qualitative descriptive type using a literary psychology approach. The data collection technique used in this research is a documentary study technique. The documentary study technique was carried out by examining the novel Ibuku (No) Gila by Anggie D. Widowati, making it easier for researchers to connect it with the problems and objectives of the research. Researchers searched for and grouped quotes related to Kurt Lewin's inner conflict theory. Meanwhile, the data collection tool used in this research is the researcher himself as an instrument in the research. In this research, data cards are used to record the data to be analyzed, to make it easier for researchers to classify data according to the type of data. Apart from that, the tools used to collect data were pencils, pens, books, the novel My Mother (Not) Crazy by Anggie D. Widowati, and paper-bound sticky notes

Abstract

This research aims to describe the semiotics of icons, indices and symbols in the novel Dad's Wallet, Mother's Shoes by J.S. Khairen. The author uses a qualitative descriptive research type, the research object is studied in the form of semiotic signs, namely icons, indices and symbols using a semiotic approach, this research data is in the form of text, sentences, paragraphs or quotations related to signs or semiotic icons, indices and symbols. in the novel Dad's Wallet, Mother's Shoes by J.S. Khairen, the data collection technique uses reading and note-taking techniques, for the data validity technique this research focuses on testing the credibility of the data by triangulation, while the data analysis technique used is data reduction by summarizing or summarizing the main important things to provide a clearer picture. and easy to understand, presenting data by presenting it in the form of explaining or describing and classifying data according to the main problem, namely differentiated in explaining the types of signs so that they are neatly arranged and easy to understand, drawing conclusions or verification is done by comparing the suitability of the statements of the research object with the meaning the results contained in the form of a summary description of the entire content of the research. Based on the results of data analysis, eighty-six data were found, including (1) fourteen data icons, (2) twenty-six data indexes, and (3) forty-six data symbols. The signs found are related to culture and daily human life, where human life is full of hidden meanings so that these signs function to reveal signs in everyday life as a means of communication in order to find out about something.Keywords: Semiotics, novel Dad's Wallet, Mother's Shoes, icons, indices, symbols
