Abstract

This research aims to develop Prezi-based learning media in improving the ability to write short story texts of grade IX students at SMP PKBM Darulhikam. The research method used is research and development (Research and Development/R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The research subjects consisted of media experts, material experts, and 27 grade IX students. Data collection techniques include interviews, questionnaires, observations, and tests. The results of the study show that Prezi’s media is considered valid with a score of 75% from media experts and 85% from material experts. The trial to students received a positive response with a score of 81%, which was categorized as very feasible. Thus, Prezi media is proven to increase the effectiveness of learning to write short story texts and is suitable for use in learning

Abstract

The phenomenon of code mixing in the speech of Indonesian teachers during the learning process in the classroom is an interesting topic to study, especially in a bilingual or multilingual environment. This study aims to analyze the mixed forms of code used by teachers, identify the factors that affect their use, and evaluate their impact on student comprehension. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected through direct observation in the classroom as well as interviews with teachers and students. The results of the study show that the code mix that appears in learning includes three main types, namely mixing code in, mixing code outward, and mixing mixed code. Factors that encourage the use of mixed codes include the limitations of word equivalents in Indonesian, language habits in daily interactions, and pedagogical strategies to facilitate the understanding of teaching materials. Although mixing codes can be an effective tool in explaining certain concepts, their excessive use has the potential to hinder good and correct mastery of the Indonesian language. Therefore, a prudent pedagogical policy is needed in utilizing code mixing to support the effectiveness of learning without reducing students' language competence in formal Indonesian

Abstract

This research departs from the depiction of domestic violence in literary works that cause a household to experience disharmony. On this basis, the purpose of this research is to describe domestic violence contained in literary works. This research is included in qualitative descriptive research with the object of research in the form of a description of domestic violence which is studied based on forms of domestic violence such as physical, psychological, sexual violence and domestic neglect. The book of short stories Kembang Selir by Muna Masyari published by the publisher DIVA Perss in 2023 was determined as a data source in conducting this research.. The research data was obtained from words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, metaphors, dialogues, and monologues that contain descriptions of domestic violence in the short story collection book Kembang Selir by Muna Masyari. The data collection technique is carried out by reading, listening, and taking notes. Triangulation is used as a data validity technique in conducting research. Then, the analysis of research data uses three stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study show that there are depictions of domestic violence in several short stories contained in the collection of short stories Kembang Selir by Muna Masyari, namely: 1) The short story "Lorong Suram" contains depictions of domestic violence in the form of physical and psychological violence. 2) The short story "Perempuan Penunggu" contains depictions of physical and psychological violence. 3) The short story "Gelas dan Piring" contains an image of domestic violence in the form of psychological violence, and 4) The short story "Bayi Sunarti" contains a description of domestic violence in the form of domestic neglect

Abstract

This study examines the value of the main character's hard work in the novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu by J.S. Khairen and its relevance as a literature teaching material in high school. The purpose of this study is to describe the value of hard work reflected through the main character, as well as describe its relevance to literary learning in high school. This research uses a type of qualitative descriptive research with a literary sociology approach. The data used in this study is in the form of words, phrases, clauses, sentences, and dialogue excerpts that describe the value of hard work with a data source in the form of the novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu by J.S. Khairen. The data collection technique used is a literature study technique. In this study, data analysis was carried out through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of this study show that there is a value of hard work reflected in the main character in the form of serious effort in doing work, being able to find solutions to the problems faced, and using all the abilities they have to complete the work. The value of hard work in the novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu by J.S. Khairen can be used as a literary teaching material to instill character values in students at the high school level. This value can be internalized into Indonesian learning in accordance with the Learning Outcomes phase F in the elements of reading and watching, namely students are able to appreciate fiction and non-fiction texts. Thus, this research can be used as an alternative teaching material to strengthen the character value of students through literary works

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the construction of Banjar women's identity through Charles Sanders Peirce's triadic semiotic analysis of three South Kalimantan folk songs: Paris Barantai, Ampat Si Ampat Lima, and Saputangan Babuncu Ampat. These three songs were chosen because they contain cultural symbols that reflect the roles, emotions, and social values attached to women in Banjar society. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, which aims to describe systematically and holistically the symbolic meaning in the context of local culture. Data collection techniques were conducted through documentation of song lyrics, literature study, and interviews with Banjar community leaders and cultural experts who fulfil certain criteria, such as mastering the Banjar language and being active in the Banjar cultural environment. Data in the form of song lyric excerpts were analysed using Peirce's triadic semiotic framework which includes the representamen (sign), object (referred meaning) and interpretant (captured meaning). The analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, lyric transcription, identification of lexical symbols, and interpretation of the meaning of icons, indices, and symbols based on Banjar cultural conventions and insights. The results show that women in Banjar folk songs are represented as noble, empowered, and at the centre of the cultural value system. Folk songs do not only function as entertainment, but also as a means of passing on gender values, preserving traditions, and strengthening local identity. This research reinforces the importance of oral culture as a medium in understanding the dynamics of women's identity and social values in traditional societies

Abstract

The short story “Istri yang Tidak Pulang” by Djenar Maesa Ayu, published in 2005, presents a narrative of resistance against the social constructs that restrict women’s autonomy, particularly in relation to the body, sexuality, and the institution of marriage. The protagonist, referred to as “Saya” (I), challenges dominant discourses that deem divorce and female sexuality as taboo. By leaving her husband and choosing to become a sex worker, she attempts to reclaim control over her body and subjectivity. This act is interpreted as a search for existential selfhood, in which the female character transforms from a passive object within a patriarchal structure into a conscious, autonomous subject who actively shapes her identity. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method through close textual reading and literature review. The analysis is grounded in Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist framework, focusing on her concepts of the Other (L’Autre) and mauvaise foi (bad faith), to examine how the protagonist negotiates her identity and bodily agency within a patriarchal society. The findings reveal that the short story portrays a woman’s effort to assert her existence through her body, despite being haunted by internalized guilt and social stigma. The protagonist’s choice to engage in sex work is not viewed as a moral downfall, but rather as an act of resistance and existential liberation. It reflects an assertion of bodily autonomy and a rejection of the objectified role traditionally assigned to women. Consequently, the story provides a critical lens on societal norms and opens new space for reading Indonesian women’s literature as a site of struggle for identity, autonomy, and subjectivity in the face of deeply entrenched gender ideologies

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of ecocriticism that reflects environmental ethics and environmental conservation efforts in the book Antologi Cerpen Lingkungan (ANCELI) by Ni Putu Anik Erawati et al. This type of research is qualitative research with an ecocriticism approach to environmental ethics literature. The data analysis method in this study is to categorize the forms of ecocriticism that reflect environmental ethics, then indicators are created for each category so that in the discussion they will be discussed according to the indicators, after which each data is connected to environmental conservation efforts. The data in this study are data contained in short stories in the form of words, sentences, expressions, and narrative stories that contain forms of ecocriticism of environmental ethics and environmental conservation efforts. The data source in this study is the book Antologi Cerpen Lingkungan (ANCELI) by Ni Putu Anik Erawati et al. first published in 2024. The data collection techniques used in this study are reading techniques and note-taking techniques. The data analysis techniques used in this study are data reduction, data presentation, ad drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that there were nineteen forms of ecocriticism that reflected environmental ethics and conservation efforts. First, there are two attitudes of respect for nature. Second, there are nine data on respectful attitudes towards nature. Third, there is a principle of solidarity. Fourth, there are four principles of love and concern for nature. Fifth, there are two principles of not harming nature. Sixth, there is a principle of living simply and in harmony with nature

Abstract

This research aims to describe the image of women in the novel Mirah by Elisabeth Ika. The image of women in this novel is interesting to be used as an object of study because this novel raises realistic women's problems with social life. The image of women in this novel is studied using a feminist literary criticism approach with the theory of feminism proposed by Sugihastuti. The theory contains several aspects, namely, physical aspects, psychological aspects, family aspects, and community aspects. This research was conducted using descriptive analysis method with literature review through data in the form of quotations in conversations, paragraphs and characters' thoughts that can define the image of women in the main character in the novel Mirah by Elisabeth Ika. The data source used in this research is the novel Mirah by Elisabeth Ika. Data collection techniques in this study used reading and note-taking techniques, while data analysis techniques used data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Abstract

This study aims to describe the phonemic changes experienced by people with cleft lip by analyzing the phonemic pronunciation produced by them. The data in this study consists of utterances produced by people with cleft lip. The data source in this study is a person with cleft lip. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was conducted by listening to a video recording from Radita Dika's YouTube podcast titled Davi Siumbing Ngomongin Nopek, then transcribing the patient's speech into written form. After the speech transcription data was obtained, the next step was to analyze the data based on phoneme changes and articulation errors, thereby answering the research questions posed in this study. The results of the study showed that there were types of phoneme changes that occurred, such as deletion, distortion, addition, and substitution. Patients with cleft lip had difficulty producing sounds that involved the meeting of the upper and lower lips, such as /p/, /b/, and /m/. Another difficulty is experienced in the pronunciation of phonemes that require air pressure from the roof of the mouth, such as /d/, /g/, /b/, /j/, /k/, /n/, /p/, and /t/. In addition, pronunciation variations experience changes or omissions of phonemes in some of the words produced. These changes can occur at the beginning, middle, or end of a word, leading to misunderstandings of meaning for listeners

Abstract

This article examines the representation of subalternity in the monologue script Balada Sumarah by Tentrem Lestari, focusing on the struggle of a woman named Sumarah who is marginalized due to the political and social stigma attached to her family, particularly after the G30S/PKI tragedy. The study aims to uncover how subaltern groups, in this case, Sumarah, attempt to speak out and seek justice within an oppressive system. A qualitative approach with text analysis is used to identify the dynamics of power, structural violence, and dominance relations reflected in the narrative. The research findings show that despite Sumarah's efforts to resist stigma through education, work, and attempts to speak in court, her voice and struggles remain ignored by the prevailing social system. Sumarah's death marks the final point, reflecting the inability of the social structure to provide space for subaltern groups to participate in the dominant discourse. The study also reveals how Balada Sumarah portrays symbolic violence and social exclusion as ongoing forms of oppression against marginalized groups
