Ruang Kata: Journal of Language and Literature Studies is published by Indonesian Language Study Program, Ma’arif Nahdlatul Ulama University. Ruang Kata is an academic journal devoted to research (field and library), conceptual ideas, review and application of language and literature theories in phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse analysis, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, anthropolinguistics, psycholinguistics, ecolinguistics, language teaching, psychology of literature, sociology of literature, ecology of literature, and other studies concerned with language and literature. This academic journal is published annually with all previously published articles have been peer-reviewed.

<![CDATA[This study aims to describe the moral values contained in the novel Assalamualaikum Calon Abi by Arthar Puspita Maghfiroh. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with moral value approach. The data source used is the novel Assalamualaikum Calon Abi by Arthar Puspita Maghfiroh with 376 pages and the data in this research is in the form of dialog, paragraphs or sentences that contain moral values. Data collection is done by reading and recording techniques and analyzed by identifying the form of moral values, classifying, and inferring or drawing conclusions from the data obtained. Based on the results of the study, there are moral values in the novel Assalamualaikum Calon Abi by Arthar Puspita Maghfiroh consisting of moral values of human relationships with themselves, moral values of human relationships with other humans, and moral values of human relationships with God.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of the use of locutionary speech acts on character in Indonesian learning in high school / vocational school. The methods used in this study involved direct observation of students' verbal interactions and content analysis of aspects of religious character displayed in daily conversations in class. This study used qualitative research methods. The study was conducted for one month in a school where students of various grade levels were involved in learning activities. The results showed that consistent use of phatik locutionary speech acts in students' verbal interactions could contribute positively to the formation of their religious character. Students who actively use phatik expressions in daily interactions tend to show a more tolerant, caring, and respectful attitude towards religious diversity in the school environment. In addition, the learning environment colored by phatik locutionary speech acts also creates a more harmonious and friendly atmosphere, reinforcing the values of togetherness among members of the school community. The results of this study provide new insights into the potential use of phatik locutionary speech acts as a means of strengthening students' religious character and improving the quality of the learning environment in schools. The practical implication of this study is that there are recommendations for educators and policymakers to pay more attention to the important role of speech acts in shaping student character and creating a conducive learning atmosphere.]]>

<![CDATA[This research examines the emotional intelligence found in the main character in the novel Kado Best by J.S. Khairen using a literary psychology approach. The aim of this research is to describe the description of emotional intelligence experienced by the main character using qualitative methods. The data taken is in the form of words, sentences, paragraphs, quotations and dialogues contained in the novel Best Gift by J.S. Khairen which contains signs of emotional intelligence in the main character. The data collection technique used is the reading and note taking technique. The data analysis technique used is (1) listening carefully and reading repeatedly the data to be studied; (2) identifying data that contains emotional intelligence in the main character; (3) classifying data according to the focus of emotional intelligence problems according to Daniel Goleman; (4) note down the parts related to emotional intelligence; (5) analyze the data that has been recorded in accordance with the sub-focus problem that has been determined; (6) examine the data using triangulation theory and observer persistence. The results of the research show that there is emotional intelligence in the character Rizki, namely in the form of recognizing one's emotions, managing emotions, motivating oneself, motivating others, and building relationships]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to describe the use of imagery in the 2023 edition of Nadin Amizah's song lyrics. The author used a qualitative descriptive research type by focusing the research object on the use of imagery using a stylistic approach. This research data is in the form of words, phrases and sentences related to the types of imagery in the 2023 edition of Nadin Amizah's song lyrics. The data collection technique uses reading and note-taking techniques. For data validity techniques, this research focuses on testing the credibility of the data using triangulation. The analytical method used is descriptive, while the data analysis technique used is data reduction by summarizing or summarizing the main important things to give a clearer and easier to understand picture, presenting data by presenting it in the form of explaining or describing and classifying the data according to The main problem is differentiation in explaining the types of imagery so that they are neatly arranged and easy to understand. Drawing conclusions or verification is done by comparing the suitability of the statements of the research object with the meaning contained in the results in the form of a summary description of the entire content of the research. The choice of expressive words and language was the impetus for researchers to research the 2023 edition of Nadin Amizah's song. With this research, song lovers understand the meaning of the lyrics conveyed because the song lyrics have complex meanings so that listeners do not understand the message conveyed. The results of the research show that there is use of imagery in the form of visual imagery, auditory imagery, olfactory imagery, tactile imagery and movement imagery.]]>

<![CDATA[The Flores Manggarai language is the first language used by the people of Flores Manggarai as their mother tongue. The Flores Manggarai language is also used as a language of daily communication both within the family and in the surrounding community. In West Flores there are three districts that use almost the same variety of language, namely West Manggarai, Central Manggarai and East Manggarai districts. These three districts have one language variety with several dialect variations. The Flores Manggarai language has unique grammatical characteristics that need to be studied, one of which is the use of diphthongs in the Flores Manggarai language. Diphthongs are two vowels that coincide and are read as one unit. Manggarai language is a language that generally often uses four diphthongs, namely /ai/, /au/, /ei/ and /oe/. The research location is located in Munting Village, South Lembor subdistrict, West Manggarai Regency. The data sources are oral and written data. Based on the research results, the word classes that contain diphthongs in the Manggarai language are verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs and task words.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to describe the form of abnormal behavior in the characters in the novel Kelab dalam Swalayan by Abi Adrianda. This study uses a literary psychology approach with the theory of psychopathology or abnormal psychology from Gerald C. Davison. The method used in this study is a qualitative description in which the data will be grouped according to the formulation of the problem and then described systematically so that it is easy for readers to understand. The data in this study are quotes or dialogues that come from data sources, namely the novel entitled Kelab dalam Swalayan by Abi Ardianda. The stages of making this research begin with reading data sources, studying and reviewing data sources, and analyzing data according to the help of psychopathology theory. The results of this study obtained characters who have abnormal behavior, including: Sonja, Ibu, and Kamala. A. Jabbar. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with Roland Barthes's semiotic approach. <![CDATA[The research aims to design and test the validity and feasibility of Prezi-based learning media in improving short story text writing skills for grade XI high school students. Prezi media was chosen because it is considered effective in attracting students' interest and facilitating a more interactive classroom environment. It is expected that the use of this media can help students in developing writing skills, especially in creating short story texts. The research and development process follows the five stages in the Dick and Carry (ADDIE) model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through validation by media and material experts, as well as through student responses. Media testing was conducted in class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Bubulan. The results of data analysis showed that the Prezi media designed was considered good and feasible to use, based on the assessment of media experts, material experts, and student responses. The validation by media experts showed a feasibility of 75% with an average score of 3 in the media quality aspect, while the material expert validation showed a feasibility level of 85% with an average score of 3.4. Scientifically, this learning media is proven to be effective and can be applied in learning, especially in short story text writing skills]]>

<![CDATA[Representation of women in the Calon Arang novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. This study aims to reveal the differences between angel and monster in the novel Calon Arang Story by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. This research is in the form of descriptive qualitative with data sources in the form of the novel Calon Arang. This study uses data analysis methods. The results of the study found the differences between angels and monsters and the representation of women in the novel Calon Arang. Calon Arang in this novel is portrayed as creepy with an evil nature. Other figures are described as angels with perfect physical images. The portrayal of angels and monsters triggered by Braidoti illustrates that there is a patriarchal goal to perpetuate the beautiful standard of perfect physical form recognized by society.]]>

<![CDATA[The song Elegi Esuk Pagi by Ebiet G. Ade is a form of literary expression in music that has high aesthetic value. The lyrics of this song contain various stylistic elements that contribute to the beauty and deep meaning that the poet wants to convey. This study aims to identify and describe the use of language style in the lyrics of the song Elegi Esuk Pagi with a stylistic approach. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with reading, listening, and note-taking techniques. The reading technique is used to understand the entire lyrics of the song, the listening technique is carried out by listening to the song repeatedly to identify the emotional nuances and musicality that support the meaning of the lyrics, while the note-taking technique is applied to record and classify the types of language styles found in the lyrics of the song. The results of the study show that Ebiet G. Ade predominantly uses metaphorical language styles, pro toto parts, repetitions, and hyperbole. The use of this language style not only serves to beautify the lyrics, but also to express emotions and reinforce the message that you want to convey to the listener. Thus, this research contributes to understanding the depth of meaning and stylistic aspects in song lyrics as a form of literary work in the world of music]]>
