Social media has become a place for various limitless interactions, including conflict interaction. One of the issues that can be studied using the concept of face negotiation theory is the case of Kristen Gray’s overstay, which was discussed for several days on Twitter. (2) when compared to Ting-Toomey's assumption, is there any change in face management in Indonesian and Black American individuals? (3) why did face management changes occur? Content Analysis is used as a primary method. There are several findings in this research: individualistic face management is shown by both conflicting actors, shifting in Indonesian’s netizen face management that analyzed using the role of social media, and absence of Black’s face management shifting is analyzed using community perspective.

Abstract

NCII stands for Non-Consensual Dissemination of Intimate Images. This term describes the dissemination of intimate content, whether in the form of photos or videos, which is carried out without the consent of the parties involved in the content. NCII is a problem that deserves serious attention in nowadays life. Even though indirectly there is a law to take action against NCII perpetrators, in reality legal protection alone is not enough to overcome NCII problems. It needs communication strategies and involvement from various community institutions in preventing the occurrence of NCII, because after all preventive measures would be much better. Communication includes strategic efforts through socialization, education, advocacy, and mentoring in order to increase awareness of the use of information technology, so as to avoid NCII, one of which is through increasing digital literacy. Therefore, through this conceptual article, the author tries to describe how the role of communication from institutions in society can prevent the occurrence of NCII, including the role of institutions and legal regulations, the role of educational institutions, the role of community organizations, the role of the mass media, and the role of individuals in using communication technology. The data collection comes from observing phenomena and studying literature in order to get relevant references. The conclusion of this article is that the NCII case is not the responsibility of just one person. Synergy between various elements of society is important in creating a safe environment from NCII's actions and supportive situation for victims.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to demonstrate how the concepts of monoculturalism are evident in the Nussa children's web series animations. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the research involved content analysis of five specific episodes from the Nussa Official YouTube channel. The analysis employed a semiotic approach to uncover both explicit and implicit meanings. The study's framework for monoculturalism is based on the concepts outlined in "Golden Truth" from the publication "The Danger of Monoculturalism in the XXI Century" and Indonesia's Broadcasting Law No. 32/2002, particularly Articles (2) and (36). These concepts highlight four key points: (1) The prevalence of a homogeneous society; (2) An inadequate portrayal of tolerance; (3) Insufficient diversity; and (4) A lack of communicative interaction and representation through cultural symbols. The findings reveal that the Nussa animated content does not adequately depict societal and cultural variety in each episode. Additionally, the Nussa production team fails to incorporate dialogues and symbols that reflect Indonesia's rich cultural diversity. In conclusion, it is recommended that future episodes of Nussa's animated web series should incorporate greater diversity.

Abstract

Background: The discourse on fitness is one of the prevalent discussions in contemporary society. The fitness discourse, as understood today, is rooted in scientific research and exerts influence over other discourses related to fitness. The most widely embraced notion of fitness by the general public revolves around health. Purpose: Researchers argue that social media has become a means of panopticism, where attributes such as physical activities and sportswear serve as representations of normalized body fitness. This study employs Foucault's arguments in observing the daily posts of social media users regarding body fitness discourses as a form of panopticism. Methods: The research embraces a post-positivist paradigm and employs a mixed methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative segment employs surveys, while the qualitative aspect utilizes in-depth interviews with three informants. Conclusion: The findings of this study illustrate how panopticism manifests in social media posts, encouraging individuals who utilize these platforms to partake in physical activities. Furthermore, the study uncovers how social media posts not only depict the existing reality but also facilitate a simulated reality. Implications: This research underscores how the discourse surrounding body fitness, disseminated through media practices, is perpetuated to bolster dominant groups within the cultural industry.
