Abstract

The elderly population is vulnerable to a decline in social interaction and quality of life due to physical, psychological, and social changes associated with the aging process. Maintaining social engagement is essential to support well-being and life satisfaction among older adults. This study used a descriptive quantitative design with a survey approach. The research was conducted in Pasinggangan Village, Banyumas Regency, involving 52 elderly respondents selected using random sampling based on the Slovin formula. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring social interaction and quality of life and analyzed using univariate descriptive statistics. The majority of respondents were aged 60–74 years (75%) and female (76.9%), with hypertension being the most common health condition (21.2%). Most elderly respondents demonstrated good social interaction (73.1%), while 23.1% had moderate interaction and 3.8% had poor interaction. Regarding quality of life, 82.7% had moderate quality of life, 15.4% good, and 1.9% poor. The findings indicate that most elderly individuals in Pasinggangan Village have relatively active social interaction and a moderately good quality of life. Strengthening social support and community engagement is essential to improve elderly well-being.

Abstract

The use of breast pumps plays a crucial role in supporting breastfeeding, especially for working mothers or those facing challenges with direct breastfeeding. However, the effectiveness of breast pump use and its impact on breast health in rural areas remains under-researched. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, involving in-depth interviews with 15 mothers who have used breast pumps. Thematic analysis was performed to identify key themes regarding the experiences of the participants. The results indicated that most mothers had positive experiences with breast pumps, reporting convenience and improved milk expression. However, challenges such as discomfort, lack of knowledge, and improper usage were identified. The study found that breast pump use improved breast health for many mothers, but improper use could lead to breast tissue damage. Breast pump use can be beneficial for supporting breastfeeding and improving breast health. However, it is essential to provide proper education and support to ensure its correct use. Programs aimed at enhancing breastfeeding knowledge and supporting breast pump use should be implemented in rural areas.

Abstract

The accuracy of pulse oximeters is critical for reliable health monitoring. The MAX30100 sensor is widely used in wearable devices to measure SpO2 and pulse rate. However, its accuracy needs to be assessed against reliable standard devices. The Contec MS100 simulator is used as a benchmark to evaluate the performance of such sensors. A descriptive quantitative study was conducted with a sample of 347 participants. Data were collected from both the MAX30100 sensor and the Contec MS100 simulator to measure SpO2 and pulse rate. The Bland-Altman method and Kruskal-Wallis test were used for statistical analysis to assess the accuracy and agreement between the two devices. The study found that the MAX30100 sensor provided reliable measurements for both SpO2 and pulse rate. The mean difference between the MAX30100 and Contec MS100 was 0.45% for SpO2 and 0.5 bpm for pulse rate. The Bland-Altman analysis showed acceptable limits of agreement for both parameters. However, minor discrepancies were observed. The study found that the MAX30100 sensor provided reliable measurements for both SpO2 and pulse rate. Abstract

The menstrual cycle plays an important role in women's reproductive health, yet many experience irregularities influenced by stress and poor sleep quality. Students, particularly female university students, often face high levels of stress due to academic pressures, which, along with inadequate sleep, contribute to menstrual cycle disturbances. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted with 347 female students. Data was collected through purposive sampling and analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test to assess the differences in stress and sleep quality levels with respect to menstrual cycle regularity. The study found that 61% of respondents with oligomenorrhea (irregular cycles) had moderate stress levels. A significant difference was observed between stress levels and menstrual cycle regularity (p = 0.000). Similarly, 33.4% of respondents with oligomenorrhea had poor sleep quality, and a statistically significant difference was found between sleep quality and menstrual cycle regularity (p = 0.000). Both stress and sleep quality are significantly associated with menstrual cycle irregularities in female students. Interventions aimed at reducing stress and improving sleep quality may help regulate menstrual cycles.

Abstract

Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), which utilize digital technology, have been implemented in several hospitals in Indonesia and offer advantages such as easier retrieval of patient data and medical history, improved time efficiency, greater effectiveness, and enhanced data security. This study aimed to describe the use of EMRs in outpatient services at JIH Purwokerto Hospital. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design using interview methods to collect data. The findings indicated that, in terms of task implementation, staff performance was considered good and effective in supporting the application of EMRs in outpatient services. From the program planning perspective, the EMR system had been successfully implemented and continuously developed with updated features. Regarding regulations and programs, the hospital had established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for electronic medical records as well as policies to ensure the confidentiality of medical record data. In terms of benefits, ideal conditions, and obstacles, the implementation of EMRs provided significant advantages for users; however, the ideal implementation had not been fully achieved due to several existing challenges.
