Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using barcode-based instructional media through the Canva application in improving students' learning outcomes on local wisdom material at SMA Negeri 1 Mojotengah. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach with the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) method. By utilizing interactive instructional media, students can access information more flexibly and actively engage in the learning process. The findings indicate that the implementation of barcode-based instructional media using Canva enhances students' understanding and appreciation of local wisdom while promoting more innovative and collaborative learning. Thus, this model effectively supports the Merdeka Belajar (Independent Learning) concept and can serve as an alternative in developing technology-based teaching methods.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model assisted by Google My Maps digital media on students' spatial thinking skills in learning geography on natural resource distribution material. The method used was quasi-experiment with post-test only control group design, involving two XI classes at SMAN 1 Jeruklegi, namely experimental class (using PjBL and Google My Maps) and control class (using conventional learning). Data were collected through multiple choice and essay tests that have been adjusted to the indicators of spatial thinking ability. The results showed that the average post-test score of the experimental group was higher (81.38) than the control group (73.33), with the majority of students in the experimental group in the "good" and "very good" categories (88.9%). This shows that the application of the PjBL model assisted by Google My Maps is effective in improving students' spatial thinking skills. The implications of this study recommend the use of project-based learning and digital technology as innovative teaching strategies in geography education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical literacy skills and Adversity Quotient (AQ) of students with the Climbers type. Mathematical literacy is an essential skill in modern education that enables students to understand and apply mathematical concepts in everyday activities. Meanwhile, Adversity Quotient represents a person's ability to face and overcome obstacles. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach involving 36 students from seventh grade at SMP Negeri 2 Mandiraja as research subjects. Data were collected through the Adversity Response Profile (ARP) questionnaire, written tests on mathematical literacy skills, and interviews with the research subjects. The findings indicate that Climbers type students possess high mathematical literacy skills, supported by a high Adversity Quotient. They are capable of formulating information, employing problem-solving strategies, and explaining the results obtained. The study concludes that Climbers type students have good mathematical literacy skills and suggests that further research be conducted to explore learning media that can support the learning process for Climbers type students.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is a crucial aspect of mathematics learning, yet it remains a significant challenge among students. While previous research has largely emphasized instructional approaches to enhance mathematical literacy, there is a lack of focus on the underlying difficulties faced by students, particularly in relation to self-regulated learning (SRL). This study aims to explore the problems in mathematical literacy encountered by vocational high school students at SMK Negeri 2 Bawang, Banjarnegara Regency, on exponential material, analyzed through their SRL levels. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study involved three student subjects representing high, medium, and low SRL categories. Data collection was conducted using a mathematical literacy test, an SRL questionnaire, and interviews. The results indicate that variations in SRL levels significantly influence the types of difficulties students experience. Students with low SRL face extensive challenges, including understanding problem contexts, constructing mathematical models, and interpreting results. Those with medium SRL can comprehend the problems but struggle with selecting appropriate solution strategies and accurately representing contextual situations in mathematical forms. Meanwhile, students with high SRL exhibit systematic and reflective thinking yet encounter obstacles in connecting mathematical results to real-life contexts. These findings underscore the role of SRL in shaping students' mathematical literacy challenges. Further research is recommended to investigate additional internal factors affecting mathematical literacy to develop more adaptive and targeted instructional strategies.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the mathematical creative thinking ability of Kesatrian Purwokerto High School students on the topic of trigonometry using the Discovery learning model and Probing-Prompting technique. The research design used true experimental design type post test only control design. The research sample was X TJKT 1 class of 37 students and X TJKT 2 class of 36 students and used cluster random sampling technique. Of the two classes taken TJKT 1 class as an experiment, TJKT 2 class as a control. The results showed: 1) There is an effect of Probing Prompting learning model on students' creative thinking skills, 2) There is an influence of the discovery learning model on students' thinking skills. The conclusion of this study shows that the ability to think creatively using the probing prompting technique is better than the class that uses the discovery learning model.

Abstract

Fuzzy thinking means the thinking process with confusion between understanding and not understanding. This research was conducted to find out the students' experiences of fuzzy thinking in mathematics communication in SMP Negeri 2 Banyumas. This was a descriptive qualitative research and the subjects were taken from the students of class 8 C using snowball technique and T.O.L (Think Out Loud) that fulfilled the criteria of fuzzy thinking either the correct one or the incorrect one. From the results, there were 2 students with correct fuzzy thinking and 4 students with incorrect fuzzy thinking. The data were collected using tests, interviews, and documentation then analyzed using Miles and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that: 1) the thinking process of the respondents with incorrect fuzzy thinking experienced a change. At first they were able to think correctly, but after the reflection, they were not able to explain correctly, so the answers did not reflect their understanding absolutely; 2)the thinking process of the respondents with correct fuzzy thinking experienced a change. At first they were not able to do the test correctly, but after the reflection, they were able to finish it correctly.

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are important in learning mathematics. However, many students have difficulty thinking creatively, especially in the subject of transformation geometry. Initial observations at Putra Harapan Boarding School Junior High School Purwokerto show that most grade IX students have difficulty in showing aspects of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration when solving transformation geometry problems. This study aims to analyze creative thinking problems in grade IX students in solving transformation geometry problems. The research method used was qualitative descriptive with the research subjects of three students selected based on the category of high, medium, and low initial ability with purposive sampling techniques. The research instruments were in the form of descriptive tests and semi-structured interviews. The data analysis technique uses triangulation. The results showed that students with high ability categories showed good creative performance formally, but experienced difficulties in the depth of conceptual thinking and originality of ideas. Students with moderate abilities have the potential for fluency and originality, but experience challenges in flexibility and elaboration of thinking. Students with low ability showed problems on all indicators of creative thinking. This study recommends the use of deep learning approaches to improve students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the difficulties of students' critical thinking skills. The research method used was qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through written tests and interviews. Written tests are used to find out students' difficulties in solving problems while interviews are used to dig deep into information to find out information related to problem solving. The subject of this study is grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah Larangan. The material used is a straight line equation. Data analysis was carried out by triangulation, which is comparing data from sources (written tests and interviews). The results of the study showed that: 1) high category students did not experience difficulties in solving problems, namely interpreting, analyzing, solving problems, and conducting evaluations, but students experienced difficulties in making inferences or drawing conclusions; 2) Medium category students do not experience difficulties in interpreting, analyzing, and solving problems, but students have difficulties in conducting evaluation and inference. 3) Low-category students have difficulty in solving problems because students have difficulties in interpreting, analyzing, solving problems, evaluating and drawing conclusions in solving problems. Based on the results of the study, it shows that students are not used to solving contextual problems so that students need to be accustomed to working on contextual problems so that they do not experience difficulties in critical thinking.
